Netflix continues to release glimpses of their upcoming series at Geek Week, such as Tim Burton’s “Wednesday.” The streaming giant has also just announced the premiere date and given us our first look at the new “The Sandman” series, based on the comic books of Neil Gaiman.
The highly anticipated series is described as “A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend are seamlessly interwoven; the Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.”
The cast includes Tom Sturridge as Drea, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Charles dance as Rodrick Burgess, and Asim Chaudry as Abel.
Gaiman will be serving as executive producer and co-writer for the series. Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman, Grey’s Anatomy) will serve as executive producer and showrunner, with David S. Goyer also executive producing. Goyer and Heinberg are co-writing the series with Gaiman.
“The Sandman” is set to premiere on August 5, 2022.
