Movie Review: Butterfly Kisses (2017)

Ol’ Gavin York finds a box of tapes in his in-laws house that purports to show two filmmakers investigating an urban legend that goes by the handle of Peeping Tom and lives in a tunnel where he moves ever closer as you blink (what’s a Weeping Angel?) until he is close enough to give you a “butterfly kiss”, the eyelash touching flutter thing dopes do when they are trying to be a “cute couple”. Well that duo mentioned above survive their initial encounter with the entity, but he is soon hunting them which makes them go insane. Movie Review: Family of Fear (2018)

Family of Fear focuses on a the family run haunt attraction Arx Mortis; a horror house USA Today rated as one of the best in the country…until it all fell to a steamin’ pile of not-so-sinister shit. To remedy that, these freaky folks go through quite an overhaul including; actor training, expanding the size of the attraction, and ending the cliques that made new recruits to the revoltin’ ranks feel un-welcome. Movie Review: Killer Kate! (2018)

Kate (Alexandra Feld) and Angie (Danielle Burgess) are estranged sisters that haven’t said a word to one another since Angie went to college and left Kate to care for their sick father. Movie Review: Queen Dracula (2017)

The long and short of Queen Dracula goes as follows: in a modern day twist on Bram Stoker’s classic, widower Jonathan Harker (Danny Zanelotti) travels to Transylvania and becomes under the spell of Queen Dracula…and imagine the surprise of Jon-boy’s daughters Lucy (Emily Miller) and Mina (Abigail G. Holmes) when they meet their potential new step-mother “D”; a real fang banger that’s out to put the bite on anyone that stands in her way! I’m not going to mince words…Queen Dracula is one of the most amateur productions I have put my eerie eyeballs on in a damn sight. Filmed on…I don’t rightly know…but I will tell you it has zero cinematography, lighting, professional (or in some cases even competent) acting or special effects (though Q.D.’s contact lenses are cool), this film is absolutely the equivalent of the S.O.V. material you would find on video store shelves in the late 1980’s…and you know what; fucking kudos to Writer/Director Curtis Everitt

Blu-ray Review: Prehysteria! (1993)

Museum curator Rico Sarno (Stephen Lee) enters a forbidden South American temple and finds a clutch of small dinosaur eggs, which he of course out right steals and heads back up North pronto. Meanwhile single father Frank Taylor (Brett Cullen) tries to keep his farm going by selling fossils to Sarno (as farmers do), and keeping his kids; Kelly Bundy with the slut-meter turned down to like one (okay, maybe two) Monica (Samantha Mills) and Elvis-obsessed Jerry (Austin O’Brien), who spends his days air guitarin’ and lip synching to some sort of rough approximation of an Elvis song whose main lyrics consist of “uh-huh” and “yeah”. One one such fossil selling excursion, the Taylor’s dog inadvertently takes a cooler containing the eggs, which soon hatch a brood of miniature dinosaurs that the kids keep a secret from their father (for a while anyway). Movie Review: President Evil (2018)

When I read the the title President Evil, I assumed this was going to be a flick about a zombie President…but from the opening credits I think we are in for some sort of Trump based parody of Halloween…because, yes…reasons…of course…okay… Anyway, our Trump surrogate “David” goes on a kill spree as a youth and gets locked up in a sanitarium. He soon escapes and…look; it’s Halloween with “The Donald”, just like I said…there’s countless “jokes” that reference the current disappointing shit storm our country has become…and all of it is instantly dated which only hurts the film’s re-watchability…I don’t even know how to review this thing… In the plus column; the cast is game for the satire at hand, and the fact that the filmmakers have a sense of social conscience, as well as an honest appreciation of Carpenter’s slasher classic is never in doubt…plus the film is shot and mixed well. Short Film Review: Trick r’ Treat (2018)

Trick r’ Treat begins with a woman (Julie Landriault) finding a stack of missing children flyers on the windshield of her car. Later that night she receives a visit from some ghostly trick r’ treaters (Johnny Elston, Ricky Elston, and Daniel Elston) who may not be what they seem! Running a compact minute and thirty seconds (two minutes with credits), Trick r’ Treat is an effective lil’ supernatural shocker. Writer/Director Andrew J.D. Robinson presents the piece with an economy of storytelling, and with some fun cinematic touches. The first act is presented in stark black and white giving it a Night of the Living Dead vibe, while the second have is presented in warm colors…it’s well done and gives the two disparate acts a unique flavor. Also well done are the visuals for the trick r’ treaters themselves…simple sheets and a bit of make-up adds up to a palpable sense of menace from these terror tykes! Bottom line, Trick r’

Blu-ray Review: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)

Dr. Miles J. Bennell (Kevin McCarthy) returns to his bucolic town after attending a medical convention to find the citizenry changed in subtle ways, such as a lack of genuine emotion and the fact that some folks claim their relatives are not whom they appear to be.
