Movie Review: THE RIZEN Delivers Sci-Fi Horror With Vintage Style

A decade has passed since the Allies achieved victory over the Axis Powers in World War II, but now a new arms race beginning to take shape. NATO and Allied Forces come together in a joint effort to win or at the very least stay ahead of said arms race. Taking a cue from Hitler’s playbook, these combined forces delve into the occult. With little or no true understanding of the otherworldly power they seek to utilize, there could literally be hell to pay for their meddling. And with Pandora’s Box now open, so to speak, the world faces a greater threat than it has ever known. This is where Frances comes in. She is an enigmatic woman, who awakens in a bunker complex, with no prior memory as to who she is or why she is there. Yet Another TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Reboot Gets a Release Date

I love The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. There’s a good chance you love The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In fact, I’d guess it would be pretty hard to find a horror fan that doesn’t love, or at least respect, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Now all that being said, do we really need another reboot? Well the good folks over at Lionsgate apparently think so, because were getting reboot number four! As far as the poster goes I will say I hate the feeling of wet socks, although I’m still not sure a puddle and skinny shins were the right direction to take. The plot itself, set to follow a teenage Leatherface breaking out of an asylum and kidnapping a nurse, doesn’t excite me either. While part of me wonders a little if his masks ever get adolescent acne, mostly it’s just boring. After all, isn’t that what a hulking, cousin fucking cannibal in a skin mask needs; and in-depth examination of what

Spawn Teased for Upcoming DC Fighting Game Injustice 2

Superman might have his hands full in the soon to be released Injustice 2, as the Prince of Hell himself, Spawn, has been teased by Ed Boon. Boon revealed they had the rights to Spawn a whole two years ago, but the demon never emerged as a fighter in the then current Mortal Kombat x (a bloody shame too, given what those fatalities might have looked like. Now however, a cryptic tweet has some fans wondering if Spawn could be released as one of the 9 dlc fighters promised for Injustice 2. Could the Bat Out of Hell be a reference to Spawn? Fans can only hope so.

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Barbara Crampton

Well my little Monsters, what started out as a difficult decision as to which wonderful Woman of Horror I should focus on quickly became a no brainier. Based on her resume, Barbara Crampton was a more than obvious choice. Barbara turned out to be a belated Christmas gift for her parents, being born on December 27th of 1958 on Long Island, New York. She grew up in Vermont, and would spend her summers trekking across the country with her father, who was employed by a traveling carnival. Barbara caught the acting bug young and started acting in school plays in the 7th grade. Her love for the art continued to grow as she studied acting at Rutland Senior High School before going on to Vermont’s Castleton State College where she would earn a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts. Following graduation, Barbara made her way to New York, where she would appear as Cordelia in The American Theater for Actors’ production

Movie Review: CHUPACABRA TERRITORY Is Territory Best Undiscovered

The Chupacabra (that’s “goat sucker” to you and me, Rusty) has been a cryptozoological legend for decades with some of the first reported attacks occurring in Puerto Rico in the spring of 1995. Since then, there have been dozens of sightings of this cryptid creature. It’s that king of curiosity that will motivate a group of four friends to journey out in search of the elusive sanguine sucker. They meet with resistance, as a park ranger initially tries to shoo them away from their intended destination. But they will not be denied and find their way back into the off limits wilderness area. Along the way they encounter another group of folks, as well as a creepy gas masked biologist. But will they discover their intended quarry – the chupacabra? And if they do, will they live to tell the tale or at least have the footage to prove it? Found footage has become an increasingly popular method of movie

Ridley Scott Has Spoken On The Fate Of Neill Blomkamp’s ALIEN 5

In 1979 Ridley Scott deftly merged the genres of horror and science fiction with his legendary film, Alien. Then 57 years later, Ellen Ripley would face off against the xenomorph threat again – and this time she’d have backup. OK it was actually only 7 years later that Jim Cameron, would continue on where Scott had left off with his sequel, Aliens. And although it’s more of a sci-fi action thriller and less horror, it has a definite place in the franchise and is a classic in its own right. Then there was Alien 3, the fork in the road so to speak. This third installment was left in the hands of rookie director, David Fincher, despite the fact that they didn’t really seem to trust him enough to direct it according to his vision. Fincher cited incessant studio intrusion as the biggest reason he not only couldn’t make the film he wanted, butr was also why he walked off

Movie Review – Unspeakable Horrors:The Plan 9 Conspiracy Is A Zany And Campy Mockumentary

In 1956, Edward D. Wood Jr. began production on a film called Grave Robbers from Space. And even though it had been screened privately at the Carlton Theatre in Los Angeles in March 0f 1957, it wouldn’t be released until July of 1959 under it’s new title, Plan 9 from Outer Space. Over the years it has clawed its way to becoming a cult classic while still being saddled with the dubious honor(?) of being the worst film ever made. Of course over the years it has faced tough competition from films that threaten to overthrow the film from its throne of utter mediocrity. Such films vying for the lowest rung are Ishtar, Gigli, From Justin to Kelly, Grease 2, Glitter and Troll 2. The list could seriously go on and on, but these are these movies are knocking hard at the doors and windows trying to grab that crown. Now what was it that made Plan 9 so bad?

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Caroline Williams

If today is Wednesday, that can mean only one thing my Little Monsters…well, it can mean other things too. But you all know what I’m getting at; it’s that day when we shed a little light on yet another wonderful Woman of Horror. And as you have already seen today our lucky lady (or are we the lucky ones, huh, huh?) is Caroline Williams. Caroline is a product of Texas, and was born in Rusk County on the Eastern side of the state. Her first part, albeit a small one, was as a pageant contestant in Michael Ritchie’s satirical pageant comedy from 1975, Smile. But it would be a full ten years before Caroline would return to the big screen, co-starring alongside Ed Harris and Amy Madigan in the film, Alamo Bay. Over the next year she would appear in four more films, but there was one in particular that would establish Caroline as an iconic Woman of Horror. In
