THE PLAGUE DOCTOR Still Currently Seeking Backers At Indiegogo

Greetings my Little Monsters. I’m here right now to inform you all that the clock is winding down on Emanuele Mengotti’s campaign at Indiegogo, to fund his beautifully macabre film, set on the legendary Venetian island of Poveglia, The Plague Doctor. There are currently only four days remaining to contribute and help the producers reach their $25,000 goal so they may bring this nightmarish vision to life. The filmmaker’s synopsis of The Plague Doctor describes the film as, “The story of Mattia, a talented young doctor, takes place in Venice. He is summoned to care for an old writer, Riccardo, by his niece, Valentina. Before reaching Riccardo’s dwelling, Mattia passes by Poveglia, an ancient island in the Venetian Lagoon where several events related to the history and culture of the “Serenissima” took place. Once a quarantine site and then a mental hospital, the island is deeply engrained with dark legends of plague and madness. In Poveglia, the young doctor faces,

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Lin Shaye

Hello again, my Little Monsters. How lovely it is for you all to join me again on this Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday. As you can see the Woman of Horror we honor today is the wonderful Lin Shaye. This Detroit, MI native caught the acting bug when she attended the University of Michigan, where she was an Art Major. During her time there, Lin also appeared in as many dramatic productions as she could. After she completed her degree at Michigan, Lin moved to New York to enroll at Columbia University and also pursue an acting career on the stage. She would find roles off Broadway and OFF off Broadway, and would also earn herself a Master of Fine Arts in acting from Columbia. In 1975 Lin would start her career as a whore. WHOA, calm down. I’m not slut shaming or casting insults at her. Lin’s first listed credit was literally as a “whore” in the movie Hester

Movie Review: ASYLUM OF DARKNESS Is A Convoluted Tale Of Madness

Dwight Shroud has awakened to find himself in an asylum, but he doesn’t intend to stick around to find out how hospitable his hosts are. He is plagued by the horrific imagery that his madness projects upon everything and everyone he encounters during his confinement. During a session, Dwight subdues his doctor and makes his escape. As he tries to put distance between the asylum and himself, Dwight attempts to flag down an approaching car. The driver swerves and crash the car, in a fiery wreck. As Dwight tries to pull the badly burned driver from the car, and during the brief encounter each man assumes the other’s consciousness. TALL MEN Review

Tall Men has something of an interesting history behind it; originally released in 2004 as Customer 152, the 13 year old film is being given fresh legs with a new title, a new distributer, and a release on Netflix in May. It’s a shame thin, given the films journey to the silver screen, that it isn’t any better. A phycological horror featuring evil debt collectors and faceless men in suits almost a decade before Slenderman hit the scene, Tall Men has a lot of good elements, but a lack of cohesion ultimately stops the film from rising beyond the sum of its parts. Terrence Mackleby isn’t very good with money, to the tune of seven maxed out credit cards, $80,000 in debt, and a declaration of bankruptcy. However when he gets a mysterious credit card in the mail, with only four percent interest, old habits prove to die hard. It’s not long before Terrence finds owing a lot of money

More VOLUMES OF BLOOD To Come In Third Film Of PJ Starks’ Anthology Series

Quick question for all my Little Monsters out there. Who LOVES a good horror anthology? I know that I do. In fact on of my favorite recent anthologies is PJ Starks’ Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories, the second in a series of horror anthologies, made for horror fans BY horror fans. According to a post on Starks’ Facebook page, it looks like Volumes of Blood will add a third film, thus ending the series as a trilogy. Of course we all know that sometimes horror franchises don’t end when they say they will, and in this case I would NOT see it as a tragedy if they decided to move past three. Despite the fact that Volumes of Blood III is in the early development stages, I’m dying to know what Starks’ “killer” concept is. The original Volumes of Blood revolved around for students who meet at a library on Halloween night, intent on creating four new urban legends. The

Tick Tock – An Original Short Story Part: 1

TICK…the watch hand clicked each second away…TOCK…each second seemed slower than the prervious one…TICK…it had been two hours since they had left him…TOCK…it was the first time he had been alone for three months, maybe four…TICK…it was hard to remember…TOCK…the seconds were getting slower…TICK…maybe the watch needed to be wound…TOCK…where had he left it…TICK…he could never remember where he set it…TOCK…“it must be wound every day to keep working”…TICK…his father’s words echoed in his mind and he began to panic. His father hadn’t said what would happen if the watch was not wound…TOCK…would it stop working? Nothing could be worse than that…TICK…he searched frantically for it…TOCK… The watch was a golden pocket watch. It was just over three inches in diameter with a large knob on the top to wind it. The outside of the gleaming gold that the watch was made of held no images, no scratches, no etching, nothing that took away from the light that always seemed

Short Film Review: STILL Is A Frightfully Comical Zombie Tale

When walking through a local park or street market, one might encounter all manner of artists, performers or…well, performance artists. Mimes are likely the most popular choice to be relegated on the lowest rung of the performance artist ladder, but there is something even lower – the “living statue”. Because while mimes at least have the skill to make people believe they’re stuck in an invisible box, the “living statue’s” claim to fame is the ability to remain stationary for long periods of time. That’s nothing, because I’ve seen plenty of road construction workers do the same thing for better money. However, if you just happen to be dead center in the middle of of a zombie stampede, where they are attacking everyone or everything that moves, the ability to remain deathly still is a huge asset. So that’s where we find our main character, a “living Statue”, at the present. He is quite literally peering into the eyes of
