Fit To Be Tied? Stephen King and Netflix Have Got You Covered

As is the way with many Stephen King fans, I sit awaiting the big screen adaptations of IT and The Dark Tower with feverish anticipation. However, my Little Monsters, we mustn’t allow ourselves become too distracted by large menacing clowns or allow that dark tower cast too large a shadow over other King adaptations that are coming to smaller screens. One such adaptation is for his 1992 novel, Gerald’s Game, which will be released exclusively on Netflix sometime this year. This adaptation was directed by Mike Flanagan, based on a script he wrote with Jeff Howard. The movie stars Bruce Greenwood, as Gerald Burlingame and Carla Gugino, as Jessie Burlingame , and features a supporting cast that includes Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, Carel Struycken, and Chiara Aurelia. Gerald’s Game tell the story of Gerald and Jessie Burlingame who, on a warm October Day, decide to take a trip to their summer home. Their love life having become, shall we say

Hear Robert Englund Voice an Iconic Batman Character in Injustice 2

If you want to add some credibility to your fighting game character, having Freddy Krueger voice him isn’t a bad way to do it. And on that happy note, Netherrealm Studio’s has decided to throw horror fans a bone, with the iconic Batman villain Scarecrow being voiced by the one and only Robert England in their upcoming DC fighting game, Injustice 2. Shown here in a new trailer, titled It‘s Good To Be Bad, Scarecrow might fight with a bladed chain rather than a clawed glove, but Fred’s penchant for nightmares and horrifying alternate realities is kept intact. While the trailer doesn’t show a whole lot of Scarecrow, England’s unmistakable voice rings through; and with unique opening dialogue for every combatant, Rob will be getting a lot to jabber on about. And no, while this isn’t quite as awesome as Freddy Krueger vs Batman, it might just be the next best thing.

Short Film Review: AMERICAN REVENANT Is A Tale Of Mayhem In Missouri

The place is Hannibal, Missouri. The time, shortly after humanity has been stuffed into a hand basket and sent off to hell. A little thing we recognize from popular culture, known as the zombie apocalypse, looks to have finally plunged the world into chaos. The goal for anyone left standing – survival. Well… perhaps not JUST standing, but anyone left standing while also living and breathing. But as one may suspect, the living are just as big a threat during such a catastrophic event as the living. Two different story lines illustrate how some of residents of this Missouri town intend to remain amongst the living during this societal downfall. One features a group of survivors have hatched out a plan to move on in hopes of finding someplace safer to re-settle. But in order to gain safer passage potential threats must be redirected out of their way. In the other story, a mother and her young daughter find themselves

Five Nights at Freddy’s Film to Be Released from Blumhouse

If four games in two years wasn’t enough, fans of acid trip Chuck E. Cheese Franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s now have a film to look forward too, with none other than Blumhouse producing. While the Freddy film rights were purchased by Warner Bros. years ago, this is the first real step of progress we’ve seen in production, with game creator Scott Cawthorn tweeting out this image. A chair and a logo; so not much to go on, but hey, its a start. There’s more than enough creepy imagery in the Five Nights Series to fill out a film, and while I’m sure Blumhouse will end up using CGI, the idea of actual animatronic monsters makes the horror geek in me drool. Let’s just hope there isn’t as many jump scares in the movie as there are in the game; I don’t need any more heart palpitations than I already got.

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Katharine Isabelle

Welcome back, my Little Monsters. It’s Wednesday again, and of course you all know what that means. It’s time to shine a spotlight on another one of our wonderful Women of Horror. Who’s today’s talented lady? You’ve already read it in the title, but just for the hell of it, I’ll type it again. Today’s talented lady is Katharine Isabelle (flutters eyelashes and swoons). Ms. Isabelle, born Katharine Isobel Murray, hails from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In 1989, an 8-year-old Katie Murray kicked off her acting career, appearing in five movies (one made-for-TV) and an episode of MacGyver. In 1991, she began going by the name Katharine Isabelle, thus edging much closer towards her current moniker. Her journey towards the macabre began with roles on television shows like Ray Bradbury Theater, Goosebumps, and The X-Files. She would make her first film appearance in the horror genre, as Lindsay Clark in the 1998 film, Disturbing Behavior. And while this role did

Movie Review: THE EYES OF MY MOTHER Is A Beautifully Disturbing Tale Of Mortality And Humanity

Francisca is a young woman with a peculiar understanding of death. As a girl, she lived with her parents in a secluded country home. As part of her daily lessons, her mother, formerly a surgeon in Portugal, taught her about anatomy and how to be unaffected by death. One day an unexpected visitor would fracture their peaceful and serene country existence. While Francisca’s father is away the stranger murders her mother, but is then subdued by her father when he arrives home moments too late to save his wife. The stranger is neither killed by her father nor arrested by local authorities, and is instead held captive in their barn. Francisca’s mother is interred, unceremoniously, to a grave in the nearby woods. And while neither Francisca nor her father show any emotion throughout this ordeal, it’s not to say they aren’t somehow deeply affected by the experience. For years Francisca lives with only two companions: he father and Charlie, the
