Take A Ride Down ‘Lost Gully Road’ In It’s First Teaser

For fans of a horror down under, Lost Gully Road, the new Austrailan Supernatural Thriller from Johnny Ghost director Donna McRae might be just what it takes to scratch that Aussie itch, with the first teaser dropping onto Youtube. And teaser is the right word for it, because this little trailer doesn’t tell you jack shit about the movie. Not that going into a movie knowing jack shit about it is necessarily a bad thing. Nothing ruins a good twisty movie like spoiling the hell out of it in the marketing. From the press release, Lost Gully Road “tells the story of Lucy, a directionless young woman who travels to a secluded cottage in the forest to wait for her sister. With no television and little communication with the outside world she spends her days alone and drinking to pass the time. That is, until her unexpected host decides to keep her company…” Wow, spending days alone and drinking to

Movie Review: ‘Devil’s Domain’ Is Devoid Of Any Real Fire

High school…it can be absolute hell, and Lisa Pomson is a young woman who can vouch for the veracity of that statement. She’s a smart, sweet and pretty, but also quite timid. Aside from that, Lisa is just your average bulimic, sexually conflicted cutter, whose parents don’t understand her teenage plight. And while the daily verbal barbs and jabs her classmates inflict upon her have become commonplace, in this digital world we live in, social media platforms have become tools by which cyber bullies can wage incredibly malicious and cruel attacks on their victims. So when an embarrassing video of her makes its way into the hands of her tormentors, it takes little time for it to make the rounds at her school. The incessant teasing that results is enough to push her to the brink of suicide, that is until a mysterious stranger reaches out to Lisa online pull her back from the edge. Lisa’s “savior” is a blonde

‘It Comes At Night’ Review: Derivative Dystopia

While Get Out still has my vote for best horror film of the year so far, It Comes At Night get’s a more dubious accolade; most misleading marketing. Most of the movie is set during the day, the titular It is refers to a few nightmares experienced by one of the characters, and the doors slamming shut on their own and monsters seemingly hiding in the shadows aren’t in the film at all. As opposed to the similar titled It Follows S. T. D monster (is the D for demon?) there is no tangible threat referring to the films title. Sure, there are some extended nightmare scenes but to me thats kind of stretching it. No, instead this is one of those horror movies where the monster is actually us all along, men driven to madness through desperation and fear. Great, that’s fine, that’s dandy, but then please don’t fucking try and sell it to me as a monster flick.

Universal Studios Adds Exciting New Titles To Its Dark Universe

I am more than thrilled to be able to announce that Universal Studios has added more titles to their upcoming ‘Dark Universe’ collection. Through my life I have always been drawn to the truly tragic characters in horror…the monsters who were almost forced to become that way due to their situation – or were simply misunderstood. The top three on my monster/villain list are Frankenstein’s Monster, Quasimodo, and The Phantom of the Opera. In fact, I drew so many pictures and read so many stories about these three tragic characters that my parents legitimately started to worry. We already know that Javier Barden will be playing Frankenstein’s Monster, but I cannot hide my excitement at the announcement of ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ being added to the ground-breaking collection of redone horror films. Both have been played to perfection by the legendary Lon Chaney and his silent performances will be tough to beat, but

Movie Review: ‘Gremlin’ Is A Film That Struggles To Get Outside Of The Box

When you give a loved one a gift it can come in all shapes and sizes, and in all manner of containers – like a box. Granted, when said box changes hands, almost everyone on the giving end hopes it won’t be re-gifted…except when it comes to this particular box. It’s a dilemma that Jimmy faces when he finds himself re-gifting this particular box to his mother, Mary. But this situation becomes somewhat more grave when he learns that his mother has guests: her granddaughter Julie Thatcher, her granddaughter’s husband Adam, and their two children, Anna and Charlie. Jimmy passes the box along to his mother with one simple caveat: she MUST give the box to someone she truly love sand the recipient must do the same, and so on down the line. Unfortunately for Mary, she doesn’t begin what should have been a long line of successive hand offs, thus causing her own demise at the “hands” of the

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Neve Campbell

Welcome back my Little Monsters. If it’s Wednesday, you all know it’s time to show a little love to one of our wonderful Women of Horror. This week’s lovely and talented lady, Neve Campbell, is a twofold scream queen…I shouldn’t have to explain what that means. Neve is a product of our neighbors to the north, having been born in Guelph, Ontario. One could say that the desire to perform was in her blood from the start. Her father was a high school drama teacher and her grandparents on both sides were involved in the theater. Neve’s first love was dance, and after seeing a performance of The Nutcracker at the age of six, she enrolled at Erinvale School of Dance to pursue her love of ballet. She would eventually study at the National Ballet School of Canada, where she would perform in Sleeping Beauty and the ballet that initially got her hooked, The Nutcracker. Unfortunately, Neve endured numerous injuries

New Alien Horror Movie ‘Fighting the Sky’ Releases Trailers

Two very different trailers give glimpses into Conrad Faraj and David Matthew Cummings film ‘Fighting the Sky’. A movie about aliens, the first trailer give a feeling of hope and excitement with careful wariness about the future; the second trailer is straight up horror. My guess is that the searchers look for UFO’s (first trailer) and it goes drastically wrong (second trailer). “A group of young ufologists explore a series of apocalyptic sounds emerging from the sky. For years, all around the world, people have heard and recorded a thundering sound that emits from the sky without any origin or explanation. Even the scientists are stumped, folks, and the strange part is the media is ignoring it. Something is going on, and that something will be explored in Fighting The Sky.” Starring Angela Cole, Roger Conners, Matthew Ward, Nicole Ann Hicks, Alison Headrick, Jinette Faraj, Judith Faraj, Brianna Burke, Bailey Weaver, Logan Roberts, Ed Conrad, Larry Cahill. Right now, the

‘Endemic’ Mixes Modern Zombies With Classic Roleplaying

Dungeons and Dragons is host to some of the most creative monsters in popular fiction, but one thing it’s never addressed is a full on apocalyptic epidemic. Or an Endemic as a new zombie themed RPG coins it. From creator and visionary Lance Yoshioka, Endemic is a dynamic table top role playing game, with zombie survival horror, combat systems, rules for zombification, and all the undead fun D&D Heads have ever wanted. Me and a few friends played a few rounds of Endemic together, and while it was a dense game to get into (the rulebook is 256 pages, with everything from Armor Durability to if a Snow Plow could outrun a zombie), we had a lot of fun. The thing that set Endemic apart for me was the focus on survival; unlike many traditional RPG’s, where your quests take you on hunts for treasure and glory, your only goal here is to not get your face bitten off, rather
