When you think Halloween you usually just think about costumes and candy, but have you ever heard the word Halloween and thought about comics? No? Well, I do. That’s because Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that they will be celebrating their 4th annual Halloween ComicFest at participating comic book stores by giving away Halloween and horror themed comic books for free. The Halloween ComicFest will take place this Halloween, Saturday October 31st 2105, and is a great way to introduce friends and family to the world of comics. Comic shops are already a great place to go for the latest in pop culture and comics but this event takes the comic shop experience

Show me The Money I read an article on Markus Persson, the billionaire developer of Minecraft and why the media says he hates being a billionaire: https://recode.net/2015/08/29/minecraft-billionaire-markus-persson-hates-being-a-billionaire/ Now I don’t know how much of this was taken out of context. I would think with that kind of expendable income, I could find a few things to at least occupy my time instead of whining to the media on how unhappy I am. Then again, I’m not a billionaire so there’s that. No doubt every jackass with a story is after you to give them money and that’s gotta be depressing. Everyone wants you, but they don’t, so yeah, it seems like a vicious circle for the person with money. And a pain in the ass. So my question to him and other people with money falling out of their assholes (and this has everything to do with Cynema, Ross Patterson and his two comedy films FDR American Baddass and Helen

The cult horror comic ‘Hack/Slash’ will be joining the ranks of ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Outcast’ and the horde of other comics being adapted for TV. Skip Woods, the man behind ‘Hitman’, will be penning the script for the new series as well as serving executive producer, along with Adrian Askarieh, Daniel Alter and Geoffrey Yim. ‘Hack/Slash’ was created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli. The comic series centers on the emotionally damaged young woman, Cassie Hack. Cassie, along with Vlad, her massive companion and protector, travel the country hunting killers, think Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. There is also word that ‘Hack/Slash’ will also be getting a film in 2018. There is no word yet who will star in the series or the film or when the series will premier.

American Revenant: The Monster in Man by John L. Davis IV is the newest addition to the American Revenant series and is available on Kindle Unlimited and for purchase through Amazon. When I had the chance to read the third installment in this doomsday prepping approach to the zombie apocalypse, I couldn’t say no! Especially since this installment promised to be the most intense volume, yet. Book Description: The third installment in the “American Revenant” series follows a community of doomsday prepping families through the devastation of the zombie apocalypse. The survivors have already lost much in their search for a safe haven. In the midst of the devastation, they have begun to realize just how much they have left to lose. John Lepper, film producer, writer, special effects makeup artist and horror fan, is now working on a comic titled ‘We Kill The Dead’. There is something very special about this comic, it will hold the record for most cameos by characters in horror films, supernatural characters to be exact. Not only will the comic have a ton of familiar characters, it will also have a few new ones as well. Unlike in some comic cameos, Lepper has permission to use the characters he’s featuring. And there are a lot of them, 22 to be exact. The list includes Reeker from ‘No Man’s Land’, Thorn from the film ‘Slasher House’, Dollman (Methodic), Mary Mattock (Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet), Verden Fell (FrightWorld), Jonah (Jonah Lives), Jack-O (Jack-O), Evil Highlander (Redwood Massacre), Stitches (Stitches), BBK (Gutterballs) and Black Night from the film ‘Dead of Knight’, just to name a few. Alterna Comics has just announced that a new three issue mini-series called Corktown will debut in the Spring of 2016. The comic was co-created by Mario Candelaria, Scott Ewen, and Dave Ganjamie. Candelaria will serve as the writer. Ewen will do the line work and Ganjamie is providing the tones and shading; as well as, colors for the covers. It is about the ghost of a recently deceased Detroit PD detective who is trying to destroy a blood thirsty killer that happens to be her own reanimated corpse. It was described as “a twist on vampires and ghosts set in the gloriously tragic backdrop of a Detroit winter.” I am already excited about this comic and can’t wait for it to debut. While we wait for Corktown to debut, check out Alterna Comics’ website, Twitter, and Facebook page for more news and comic announcements as they celebrate their 10th anniversary.

She Walks In Shadows edited by Silvia Moreno-Garcia & Paula R. Stiles is very different from many of the books I’ve reviewed for Zombie Apocalypse Defense Force, before. It’s an anthology put out by an independent press which aspires to tell the stories of female authors whose works relate to or take place in the universe established by H.P. Lovecraft. Any horror fan worth their salt is familiar with Lovecraft’s work, so seeing the premise was enough to get me interested. The kind folks at Innsmouth Free Press were kind enough to send a copy of the book my way to review, and I am eager to share my thoughts with all of you.
