Neill Blomkamp Kicks Off Crowd Funding For ‘Firebase’ Feature Film

Last year, Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) debuted a series of short sci-fi-horror films. One of the films, Firebase, was then chosen by Blomkamp, based on fans’ reactions, to become the first feature film from Oats Studios. Firebase took us inside the hell that was the Vietnam War. Not only do U.S. soldiers come face to face with the enemy, they must face the River God, a creature with the power to raise the dead. Set during the Vietnam war, FIREBASE follows American soldier Hines through an ever deepening web of science fiction madness. Today, the crowdfunding campaign kicked off for the full-length feature of Firebase, but it’s not your run of the mill campaign. Blomkamp is setting out to make films outside of Hollywood that would give him unrestrained creativity. The campaign won’t be offering any perks other than seeing Blomkamp’s creations come to life. Blomkamp explains, “We want to build a 21st century studio that is funded directly

New Terminator Gets Delayed

Tim Miller’s (Deadpool) untitled Terminator film, which serves as a direct sequel to Terminator 2, has been delayed. The reason has not been confirmed, but it may have something to do with star Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent heart surgery, which he seems to be recovering from nicely. In fact, after waking up from surgery his first words were “I’m back!”. I think Cameron and Miller came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie,” Schwarzenegger recently told Business Insider. “What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters.” Blade Runner 2049 actress Mackenzie Davis recently scored a leading role in the film and will co-star alongside Linda Hamilton who will be reprising her role as Sarah Conner. ‘The Meg’ Surfaces In New Image

Next week, the trailer for Jon Turteltaub’s The Meg will swim in and we can’t wait! Ahead of the trailer comes a fresh new image of the beast itself, shared by EW, giving us a look at just how big the monster is. Oh, this is going to be good! In the film, based on novel series by Steve Alten, “A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same

An Update On New Line’s ‘Friday The 13th’ Reboot

Just as production was set to begin on a new Friday the 13th reboot from director Breck Eisner (The Crazies), the brakes were hit. Not much has been said about the situation, until now. Rights to the franchise are set to revert back to New Line sometime next year. But a lawsuit from the original film’s writer Victor Miller (interview) may cause problems for the studio. ArrowInTheHead.com recently talked with Platinum Dunes producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller about the situation. One of the biggest heartbreaks of the last couple years was that we were about to make that movie and it fell apart. That still hurts,” Fuller said. “The fans reach out to us; Andrew doesn’t really engage because he’s not on Twitter, but I am and I hear from the fans and that’s all they ask about. We get asked about that more than anything else.” He continued. “Fans think it’s so simple, that if we want to
