P.D. Alleva’s ‘Golem’ Is A Trip Into Darkness That You Won’t Recover From – Book Review

Plot “The devil is in the details” according to author P.D. Alleva in his novel Golem. This phenomenal book starts off with a phenomenal plot. A detective story, a horrific nightmare, a thriller, a view into the occult, and the spiraling of insanity all rolled up onto one package called Golem. As newly-badged Detective John Ashton digs deeper into a very public missing child case, he digs up much more than he bargained for and much more than even he believes. This novel is a journey into the darkest and most vile parts of horror and personally, I couldn’t put it down. As the the story races forward, the plot that Alleva reveals gets more and more intriguing as the devils in the dark swallow everything. Characters There are not a ton of characters in this novel (nor does there need to be) and the characters there are, are very memorable. Alleva stays away from from overused cliches while creating

Hex Arcana Set To Revive Cult Horrors With Retro Paperback Collection

Last year, Scottish film company Hex Studios announced its new publishing wing Hex Arcana, and released hardback short story anthology ‘The Book of Beastly Creatures’. Next on the Hex Arcana agenda; revive the pulp horror paperback. Their first offering in the collection is a new edition of Sarban’s classic alt-history horror ‘The Sound of His Horn’. First published in 1952, the much-loved novel imagines a nightmare world where the Nazis won the war, and people are hunted for sport. The retro edition is inspired by the cult horror paperbacks of the 70s and 80s, and features an original, hand-painted cover by legendary artist of the era, Lisa Falkenstern. Premiere Date Announced For New Series “Hellbound” From The Director Of ‘Train To Busan”

Netflix has just announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated Korean supernatural series, “Hellbound”, from the director of Train to Busan. In the series, a detective, a lawyer, and a journalist set out to investigate the link between a mysterious cult leader and beings who have descended to earth to condemn people to hell. The series centers on the strange events which are tied to the rise of a religious sect called New Truth. Yoo Ah-in (Burning, #Alive) plays the leader of the cult, Jung Jin-soo, while Yang Ik-june (Breathless) plays a widowed detective Jin Kyung-hoon, and Park Jung-min (Time to Hunt) stars as the journalist. A First Look Trailer Is Here For Netflix & Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman”

After a long wait, the first glimpse at the upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s “The Sandman” is finally here. The footage was released during this weekend’s TADUM event. Much of the footage depicts Dream’s imprisonment along with a group trying to capture Death. Elvira “Comes Out Of The Coffin” As LBGTQ+ In New Book

Following last week’s announcement about the upcoming Shudder special Elvira’s 40th Anniversary, Very Scary, Very Special Special, and today’s release of Cassandra Peterson’s (Elvira) new book “Yours Cruelly, Elvira,” the “Mistress of the Dark” has officially come out of the coffin, announcing that she has been in a relationship for the past nineteen years with her partner, Teresa “T” Wierson. That’s right, the famous horror host is LBGTQ+. The two met at the Hollywood Gold’s Gym where Peterson was visiting with her boyfriend at the time. Peterson and “T” met in the ladies’ room that day and a friendship was born. After Peterson ended her marriage to musician turned manager Mark Pierson, the friendship with “T” evolved and after a while, the two realized they were in love. Emily Deschanel Starring In Netflix’s Upcoming Series “Devil In Ohio”

“Bones” actress Emily Deschanel is set to star in Netflix’s upcoming limited series “Devil in Ohio,” based on the true story-inspired book of the same name by Daria Polation (interview). The cast also includes Sam Jaeger as Peter, Gerardo Celasco as Detective Lopez, Madeleine Arthur as Mae, Xaria Dotson as Jules, Alisha Newton as Helen, and Naomi Tan as Dani. In the series, when hospital psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis shelters a mysterious cult escapee, her world is turned upside down as the strange girl’s arrival threatens to tear her own family apart. The series, which features eight forty-five-minute episodes, is currently in production in Vancouver. Polatin adapted her novel and serves as both showrunner and executive producer. Rachel Miller of Haven Entertainment will also executive produce along with Andrew Wilder. Ian Hay will serve as producer. A ‘Marvel Zombies’ Movie Is Finally On Its Way

Following a recent episode of “What If…” on Disney Plus, there is a rumor that the MCU is making a live-action movie based on the Marvel Zombies. Even though we’ve heard this before, the rumor seems to be somewhat credible seeing that Mark Miller (Kick-Ass, Kingsman), the comic book creator who first brought the story to life, recently released an email newsletter teasing that a live-action film is on its way. …also (if my sources are correct) a little live-action Marvel Zombies further down the line, but you never heard that from me. The comic “Marvel Zombies” first debuted in 2005 and was a five-issue limited series set in an alternate universe where the world’s superhero population has been infected with a virus that turned them into zombies. While writing Ultimate Fantastic Four, Mark Millar decided to introduce an alternate Earth populated by zombies in a “Crossover” featured in issues #21-23.
