The last three Universal Horror Collections brought to us courtesy of those devious n’ delightful devils over at Scream Factory have been a creepy cornucopia of fright flick fun (Don’t believe me? Head here and here and here to read my thoughts for your own sinister self!)! Let’s see if Volume 4 lives up to it’s predecessors! Starting things off we have 1937’s Night Key: David Mallory (Boris Karloff) is the old-as-balls inventor of a real peach of a new burglar alarm… in fact it’s so great that a real asshole of a businessman ends up taking our nearly blind hero for a ride and steals the profits from the device. Nicolas Pesce takes us on a bleak and violent journey through the lives of several people in his reboot of The Grudge. This time set in the U.S., The Grudge follows a woman working in Tokyo at the original house as she brings home the curse to her family and her home. We watch as several people enter the home not knowing its terrible secret over several years, beginning in 2004. A cop and single mother, who has just moved to town following her husband’s death sets out to uncover the secret of the house and the multiple deaths that are connected to it. There are a lot of characters in this movie, each in a sad situation. The main cast is huge and includes Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, Lin Shaye, Frankie Faison, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Lorna Weaver, William SadlerZoe Fish, David Lawernce Brown, John J. Rock Pocket Games and Funcom have allowed me to play their Lovecraft inspired first-person horror game, Moons of Madness for the Xbox One. Moons of Madness has already been released on PC and received high praise by many before finally being released onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today. In Moons of Madness, you take on the role of Shane Newhart, a lowly engineer with a level 1 security clearance working on a station on Mars. After waking from a nightmare and having to get back to work maintaining the facility, things start to go weird…and very wrong and somehow Shane’s past is involved. Onto the game itself: Moons of Madness is heavily narrative-driven and you’re along for the ride, very much like the “Layers of Fear” games, Narcosis, and Observer, where players have to solve puzzles to continue the narration and may have to run away from danger rather than fighting it. Miriam (The Love Witch‘s Dani Lennon) is having a shit-ass go of things lately; she’s stuck in some sort of bizarre game she can’t escape controlled by the super-villain costume attired Gamemaster (Deadpool’s main squeeze Morena Baccarin), a being tasked with making the “game” satisfying to it’s violence-lovin’ audience! To that end, Miriam is taken back in time to a meeting with her evil father (genre legend Ray Wise); a disgraced politician who’s children revealed his wrongdoings costing him a job as the Vice Prez of the U.S. of A.! So what does he do? Why traps his offspring in a never-ending existence of traps and torture populated by his henchman (as one naturally would). I was not prepared when I pressed play and sat down to watch Malgorzata Szumowska’s The Other Lamb. From the get-go, I had a feeling of overwhelming dread as I watched the Sheppard interact with wives and children. You see, his biological daughters are also his future wives (*shudders). His favorite daughter is Selah (Raffey Cassidy), who we watch go from being a child to t a young woman who finds her own strength as she comes to see the truth about her father. I will give you a warning, there are a lot of truly disturbing things in this film including several scenes of animal sacrifice, but the most disturbing is the incest that is present from beginning to end. The only monsters depicted here are the characters themselves, reminding us of the cruelty possible within a family. The Other Lamb is not your common horror film but definitely qualifies for the genre. I’ve seen thousands of horror films

The long and the short of the upcoming fright flick Morbid Colors goes as follows: a duo of freaky foster sisters set of an a quest to put the stalk n’ slay on a rich-as-balls socialite. Seems like a rather standard trip down our beloved Revenge Road, but the filmmakers have included one hell of a terror twist here cats n’ creeps; it seems the older sister is of the fang-bang set, and these ghoulish girls believe that Richie Rich mentioned previous is the vampire what done it! Along with that nifty preternatural premise up yonder, writer/director Matthew Packman has created a suitably cold and dreary world for this arcane action to go down in. Filled with leather jackets, slate-grey skies, underground metal bands, eyes hidden behind sunglasses, and an environment that is as bleak as the story set in it, this is one hell of a low-budget flick, and the careful choices of visuals and mythology sell the picture

Jimmy Bones(Snoop Dogg) was one bad-ass mother fucker in the ’70s; a true gangster’s gangster that ultimately was betrayed by a friend and met his demise in a deal gone south. Flash forward to the ‘mazing future year 2001, and Bones’ ol’ crib is purchased by a group of young entrepreneurs who hope to turn it into a nightclub. This causes the spirit of Bones to rise, and he immediately sets his sights on getting powerful enough to enact his supernatural revenge plot on those that did his ass oh-so wrong back in the disco days… and woe be to any mother fucker that gets in his way! I’m not here to mince words with you cats n’ creeps, so let me just say that Bones is a huge amount of frightful fun! Nearly twelve hours ago I waited downloaded the Resident Evil 3 Demo and gave it a shot and I was impressed! The demo is roughly 20 minutes long but definitely shows you what you’re going to get yourself into when the full game comes out! Judging by the events in the Demo, this playthrough is taking place somewhere in the middle of the storyline As Jill is brought in to meet Carlos’s commanding officer who unlike in the original Resident Evil 3, is not completely incapacitated. The demo shows a bit of everything that you will encounter in the main game like puzzle solving, reading documents, crafting health and ammo, and of course combat. If you’re wondering, yes its true Nemesis is in the demo as well and he can really kick your ass! After completing the demo I was treated with a new trailer for the game that showed a bit more of what we will be seeing in

If you are of a certain age (read: old as all fuckity-fuck), then you doubtless grew-up with the fabulous freaky Munster family courtesy of mid-morning re-runs on TV. As a kid I loved every hauntingly hilarious minute of their sensational show… but said show wasn’t enough to contain the ghoulish goings-on, so in 1966 a fearsome feature film was created… and this time the Munsters came at ya in creepy color for the first time! Munster, Go Home! (the film in question, ‘natch) sees the family’s patriarch, the Frankenstein monster surrogate Herman (Fred Gwynne), inheriting an ancestral family home down jolly ol’ England way! So the whole grizzly gang: the aforementioned Herman, his vamp wife Lily (Yvonne De Carlo), her father/Dracula stand-in Grandpa (Al Lewis), and his werewolf son Eddie (Butch Patrick)… along with their perefctly normal niece (who’s appearance is monstrous to them) hope on a boat and set sail across the putrid pond!
