Movie Review: ‘Corbin Nash’ Is The Best Vampire Film We’ve Seen In Years

When I first heard about Ben Jagger’s Corbin Nash, which he wrote with Dean Jagger, I assumed that it would be a decent little action-vampire movie. I was wrong. Corbin Nash was actually fantastic. In fact, it is the best vampire movie I’ve seen in years. In the beginning, Corbin Nash (Dean Jagger), a tough no-nonsense detective, learns from two family friends (Rutger Hauer, Bruce Davison) a long-hidden truth, that his murdered parents were vampire hunters. Nash digs into the mass missing person case he and his partner Frank (Chris Pardal (interview)) are working. When Corbin and Frank think they have spotted two kidnappers (Corey Feldman, Richard Wagner) they learn that not only are the two men kidnappers, they’re vampires. During the fight, the two detectives are knocked out. While Frank is left behind, Corbin wakes up to find himself trapped among other victims and is forced to fight to survive. After a fight, he’s left for dead on the

Killer Robots, Drug Cartels, And Danny Trejo: Review Of ‘Cartel 2045’

Chris Le’s film Cartel 2045 takes us to the year 2045 where the drug war in Mexico has reached new heights of brutality as one of the drug cartels acquired a new weapon to strike fear in rivals and the United States, combat robots. The robots were used by the US military till an incident in Iran made them illegal. Now the company that made the robots have sold them to a Mexican drug cartel headed by Angel Malvado played by Danny Trejo (Machete, Machete Kills). Former Marine Carson Wright, played by Brad Schmidt (The Birth of a Nation, Here and Now, House of Lies) who was responsible for the incident in Iran due to a “faulty” chip that’s implanted in his head that allowed him to control combat droids, is sent to Juarez, Mexico to meet up with a special forces team sent in to rescue an engineer played by Chris Perskey (Bagboy, Hot Bot, Artifice) who’s being held

Review Of ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’ On Xbox One

In August of 2017 indie-game developer Ninja Theory released on PlayStation 4 and PC, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The game was so popular on PS4 and PC it earned high praises from both critics and players alike as well as winning nine awards! With this success, Ninja Theory expanded the game’s potential and will release it on Xbox One on April 11th, 2018! I’ve been granted the honor by Ninja Theory to review it before it hit’s selves. All I can say now is you need to get this game! The game is heavily influenced by ancient Celtic culture along with Norse mythology, that’s enough right there to make you throw your wallets at the screen right now. The game revolves not just on the culture and mythology but on our heroine Senua’s mental health, Ninja Theory worked closely with mental health experts to make this part of the experience as real as possible, this is where the game is unique.

Spoiler Free First Impression Of AMC’s ‘The Terror’

With its waining popularity, it’s safe to say that The Walking Dead now has competition, The Terror, the new series based on the novel written by Dan Simmons of the same name. The book, as well as the new series, is a fictionalized account of the infamous Franklin’s Lost Expedition The show’s two-hour premiere with the episodes Go for Broke and Gore. The series is being produced by Scott Free Productions which explains the better production quality over AMC’s other series, The Walking Dead. I’m keeping my impressions spoiler free because I feel that if anyone’s interested in watching this show should do so and judge for themselves, with that here’s my first impression. First off, some are criticizing the premiere as being a bit “slow” but any sailor will tell you, it’s the calm before the storm. The key thing this show is doing is telling a story of the two ships The Terror and Erebus stuck in the

The Webtoon ‘Melvina’s Therapy’ Is Just What The Doctor Ordered

Webtoons.com is a fun site where comic authors can showcase their works to readers. I’ve been a reader on the site for a while and have found some really nice comics that tend to be the “slice of life” comedic variety but recently I’ve discovered a darker comic that I could not stop reading as soon as I started, Melvina’s Therapy by A. Rasen. The Webtoon is about a Psychiatrist name Melvina who helps her clients unlock their deepest emotional trauma to “help” them; yes I used quotations there because in truth she’s using her patients to achieve a nefarious goal of using their torment as nourishment for herself. The overall plot is dark and mysterious with each chapter having their own twisted plot. The stories remind me of some of the really good horror manga’s I’ve read in the past. The art is fantastic and what I really love about this comic is the attention to detail. A. Rasen

‘P.T.’ Changing The Way Games Scare Gamers

Back in August of 2014 players on PlayStation 4 got the chance to play the first ever playable trailer that was known simply as P.T., a first-person horror game like no other. The game ends revealing that this playable trailer was for (at the time) the upcoming game Silent Hills a new installment in the game series, sadly production of the game was canceled. Along with the cancelation came the removal of P.T. from PlayStation Store rendering already downloaded copies of the game unplayable, a move that’s still heavily criticized. Some can argue that P.T. was not the first game to dome something like this, the no combat, first-person horror experience. It’s true, four years prior to P.T. gamers were scared by Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a survival horror game where players explore a dark castle while trying to avoid the creatures that stalk its corridors with no means to protect themselves. A month after Amnesia was released; Alien: Isolation

Seeing ‘The Evil Within 2’ Insanity In First-Person Style

Almost two weeks ago it was announced that The Evil Within 2 was getting a free update that would allow players to play the game in a first-person style view. For those who are not familiar with the overall premise of the story, here’s a bit of a breakdown. The Evil Within games are a cross between Silent Hill and The Matrix where you play as Sebastian Castellanos who in the first game was a police detective while in the sequel is now “former” detective. Sebastian is in a virtual world that was made possible by a machine called STEM, the machine operates with a “core”, a human acting as a battery, the first game it was a man named Ruvik, the inventor of STEM and a sadistic psychopath who’s twisted mind affected the world inside STEM turning some of those who were plugged into the world to turn into zombie-like creatures. In The Evil Within 2 Sebastian learns his

Annihilation Review: Lovecraft Done Right

There’s a sense of unease all throughout Annihilation, the latest film from Ex Machina director Alex Garland. The strange color palette, booming techno-esque score, and oddly detached performances from the actors add up to a film that is immensely strange, beautiful, and utterly alienating. Few films have really nailed down what made Lovecraft’s monsters so powerful; not just that they were skyscraper sized, tentacled freaks, but that they were completely and utterly inhuman, unimaginable, beyond comprehension. Now since Annihilation is a film, and those generally have to be viewed with your eyes, the spectacle is made a little more sensible. But just a little. Almost every aspect of Garland’s masterpiece remains amazingly alien. The monsters and menaces of Annihilation are a result of a following star, smashing into the Florida Everglades, and infecting the land with an odd rainbow glow. Recalling Lovecraft’s seminal tale, The Colour Out Of Space, The Shimmer, as this forsaken land is coined, warps everything in it’s

Sound, Sex, And The Devil: ‘American Satan’ Is Simply A Triumph

As I sat down to watch American Satan I had the misconception that the film I was about to watch would be about music, I was wrong. What I watched unravel on the screen was much, much more. In the beginning, we see a rock band, “The Relentless”, come together, Johnny (Andy Biersack), Lily (Jesse Sullivan), Vic (Booboo Stewart), Leo (Ben Bruce), and Ricky (John Bradley), their manager. Playing their first big show at the Whiskey, they take the stage and see a packed house, that is until people’s social media notifications begin to pop up, notifying the crowd that Metallica is playing down the street. As the bar empties the band sees Elias, the record exec (Mark Boone Junior) one of the members met earlier in the day. As he walks out the band lays down their instruments and leaves. Just when they are at their lowest they meet the Devil himself, played by Malcolm McDowell. After they agree

Growing Up Sucks: Review Of ‘Don’t Grow Up’

We all had or still have that fear of growing up, where we have to abandon the little things that entertained us as children, see the world differently, and overall just changing into someone different than who we once were. In Thierry Poiraud’s 2015 horror drama film Don’t Grow Up or as it’s called in Europe Alone (Don’t Grow Up), makes the idea of growing up a death sentence on a fictional island where a strange virus only affects the adults, turning them into ravenousness killers. Warning: lots and lots of Spoilers ahead! Don’t want the story spoiled? Scroll down to the final picture. The story revolves around a group of teens who live in a home for children. Bastian (Fergus Riordan) who tried committing suicide as a result of blaming himself for his little sister’s death, Liam (McKell David) a brash individual who always brags about how rich his father is all the while being neglectful to his girlfriend
