I always wanted a pet Dinosaur when I was a kid, I think that was a common wish by most youngsters. After seeing the “Jurassic Park” films over the years I think that changed my opinion but I can live that wild dream again in the business simulation video game, “Jurassic World Evolution”. Frontier Developments was kind enough to allow me early access to the game. The game is basically like your theme park simulation games except you are dealing with dinosaurs in the “Jurassic World” universe (meaning all hell will break loose). You take on the role of a park manager on the Las Cinco Muertes (the five deaths) island where you are building a new “Jurassic World” theme park and to help you along the way is Ian Malcolm offering his opinions and advice along with other characters from the films, and yes, Jeff Goldblum is playing Malcolm! I’m gonna come right out and lay some truth on you cats; The Last House on the Left was never one of my favorite Wes Craven fright flicks…but it has been well over a decade and a half since I last laid my eerie eyeballs upon it, so now that Arrow Video is unleashing a feature packed Blu-ray of ol’ Last House, let’s see if the ever shifting sands of time have mellowed my attitude towards this (admittedly classic) film… The Last House on the Left concerns the misadventures of young Mari Collingwood (Sandra Cassell) who heads out (after a bizarre conversation with her parents about her tits) to a concert by the wholesome sounding Bloodlust with her friend Phyllis Stone (Lucy Grantham)…a concert taking place in New York City…far away from her bucolic home. Like a lot of people, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of The Endless from filmmakers Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson. IWhile the synopsis peaked my interest, I was not prepared for what I was about to see. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but the film was so much more. Spoilers Ahead! The film begins with two brothers, played by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, struggling to keep a roof over their heads and still coping with escaping a cult ten years earlier. After Justin (Benson) tires of his brother’s complaining and talk of the cult, he decides that the best way to shut him up by paying the cult a visit. Aaron (Moorhead) is more than willing to return to the isolated cult where they spent their childhood. DontNod and Focus Home Interactive gave me the opportunity to play their horror game, “Vampyr”. The game is about Dr. Jonathan Reid, a prominent surgeon who specializes in blood transfusions who recently has become a vampire. Reid is back home in London after the Great War and the Spanish flu epidemic has started to spread and vampires are joining in on the killing. The game is in third-person giving you the chance to see around your environment perfectly. As you explore London, you are able to use a vampire vision mechanic that allows you to see blood trails that lead you to find clues as well as little rat morsels you can eat! You can find hideouts where you can upgrade Reid’s weapons as well as his perks. Starting at his cinema obsessed childhood and working it’s way into his existence as a true legend of exploitation cinema; King Cohen: The Wild World of Film Maker Larry Cohen is a fascinating look into the life and times of a comedian turned Director (and Writer…and Producer) responsible for some of the greatest titles our beloved horror biz has to offer, such as: The It’s Alive Trilogy, The Stuff, Q: The Winged Serpent, God Told Me To and many more! Over the course of an hour and forty seven minutes we take a break neck journey into just what it took to get Cohen’s legendary horror and Blaxploitation flicks to the silver screen including; filming cars driving down the sidewalks of New York City, simulated gun shots and film fights, daring stunts…all without planning, permits, or on lookers being clued in to the fact that a motion picture is being filmed. A deranged, shades sportin’, killer (David Wilkinson) on the lam walks right on into the home of a teen named Joey (Joseph Shaughnessy) like the mother fuckin’ cool breeze he is. While there he dons a Freddy Kruger mask and waits for J-man to get home…which when said event occurs leads to a full on WWE style brawl that nothing can stop (the sound effects alone are worth whatever you pay for this DVD)…not even the arrival of Joey’s friend (How do we know he’s our hero’s friend? Why he announces “Hey Joe, it’s me your best friend!” before he gets his throat slashed). Will Joey survive this epic confrontation? A woman with brain cancer (Margarethe von Stern…who also co-wrote the feature) enters a surreal version of the Egyptian underworld (this time comprised of bucolic fields, swamps, and gaudy rooms and industrial settings). She soon becomes obsessed with the mummification of deceased animals (at times overseen by a frog…could this be a manifestation of the fertility goddess Heqet? Not a stretch when you hear what happens to our terminal heroine next…) before being mummified herself by the god Anubis (this time represented by a man, naked from the waste down and adorned with a fetishistic mask that roughly resembles a canine countenance). Before long our protagonist encounters multiple versions of herself (or so they seem) as she attempts to reconcile her mortality and sense of self. The Day of the Purple Sun is more of an “experience” than a traditional motion picture. The film is comprised of aesthetics more than a standard narrative, and the end result challenges the viewer

The show followed the fictionalized account of the doomed Franklin Expedition based on the novel of the same name written by Dan Simmons, where the stranded English crew must face an unknown mythical beast in the arctic wasteland as well as each other. The series follows Captain Crozier (Jared Harris) who struggles with the freezing elements along with his inner demons (alcoholism). The story follows Angela, a former journalist student who’s trying to make a name for herself by investigating a strange newspaper that only reports positive news. She soon finds that the authors of the paper are the Four Horsemen who have retired and renounced their ways and wish to live quietly in England. The discovery soon sparks unwanted attention from a secretive society of monster hunters and a child who is the antichrist.
