University Finds 7,000 Bodies On Campus Grounds During Construction

Imagine, if you will, discovering that you have been walking, working, living on a property then discovering that you have been doing all of that with 7,000 bodies buried under your feet. Sounds like the setting of a horror film doesn’t it? It is not. That’s exactly what happened to the people who live and work on the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus. In 2013, when construction began on a road running through UMMC 66 coffins were uncovered. In 2014 during the building of a parking just east of the dental school, a crew using underground radar found 1,000 more bodies. Now, they are estimating 7,000 or more bodies are buried on the campus. So, where did the bodies come from? Mississippi’s first mental institution, built in 1855, once stood where the collage is now. The 7,000 coffins belong to the patients who did not survive their stay in the insane asylum. Their remains are spread over 20 acres

On The Anniversary Of Serial Killer H. H. Holmes’ Death They Are Digging Him Up

One of the most notorious serial killers to ever walk the streets of America was Herman Webster Mudgett, but you know him as Henry H. Holmes. Born on May 16, 1861, H. H. Holmes built a grand hotel, often referred to as “The Murder Castle”, which operated during the World’s Fair. The hotel was built and designed with murder in mind. The hotel had hidden body shoots, and rooms that appeared normal, but were actually gas chambers. There was even a crematorium built into the basement so that he could dispose of bodies and evidence. Holmes would kill guests, clean and bleach their bones, then sell their skeletons to medical schools and doctors. When police began to investigate the missing people, last seen checking into the hotel, Holmes fled. The hotel was then burned to the ground thanks to an unknown arsonist. Holmes was captured in 1895 and soon confessed to killing nine. However, officials believed that the real body

Aileen Wuornos: The True Story Of A Serial Killer

Monsters do exist. They are not the nightmares in our dreams, the ghouls under our beds, or the specters in our closets. Monsters are real people, and they are terrifying. One monster who lived on the earth is none other than Aileen Wuornos. Yes, I know that this monster prologue is based on the fact that there is a movie about her called Monster (and the movie if fantastic!), but the fact still remains that she was a vile, angry woman. As with many murderers and monsters, the argument is there for if they were born evil or created evil by their circumstances. And, if created, how justified were they? I am not going or answer that question. But I hope to at least provide the information for you to create opinions and arguments. Wuornos never met her father, as he was incarcerated at the time of her birth on February 9, 1956. He was convicted of sex crimes against

Review: John Borowski’s Serial Killer Culture TV Is A Great Time Killer

“Serial killers are everywhere! Well, perhaps not in our neighborhood, but on our television screens, at the movie theatres, and in rows and rows of books at our local Borders or Barnes and Noble Booksellers.” – Pat Brown Serial killers have held a place in popular culture for some time. They and their fictional counterparts can be found in mainstream movies, books, television shows, and music. And by way of sensationalism, these real life monsters reached a somewhat mythical status, that makes them not unlike the boogeyman. In John Borowski’s documentary film, Serial Killer Culture, the viewer is provided a glimpse of a subculture that also focuses on these same true life killers from a more real and visceral artistic, historic, and cultural perspective. While I enjoyed John’s documentary, I could see he had only scratched the surface and I hoped at least a second installment was in the works. On March 1st, John continued forth on the journey he

The world has obviously changed drastically since the 1800s, but during that time in Australia there was what is called baby farming. These two monsters were a match made in Hell. John Makin was born on February 14, 1845 and Sarah was born August 15 of the same year. The couple were wed on August 27, 1871. Sarah had been married before and brought one child into the marriage and then had another daughter with John.
