Logo Revealed For “Are You Afraid Of The Dark” Feature Film

Last year we reported that IT remake writer Gary Dauberman was writing the script for Paramount’s feature film adaption of the ’90s TV series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” That news was followed by Paramount announcing a 201 release date for the movie. This week at CinemaCon Paramount unveiled an official logo letting fans know that the film is still coming. “The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scary ones. We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honor the darker, scarier tone of the show, which was really groundbreaking for Nickelodeon at the time. I hope the Midnight Society approves,” Dauberman, who produces with Matt Kaplan, recently told THR. The original series followed a group of teenagers who call themselves The Midnight Society. Each week one member of the club would tell a scary story to their friends. Are You Afraid of the Dark will arrive on October 11, 2019.

Showing Of Suspiria (2018) At CinemaCon Sends Twitter Into A Frenzy

We’ve been waiting for a while to hear more about Oscar-nominated director Luca Guadagnino ‘s new version of Dario Argento’s Suspiria. Yesterday, crowds at CinemaCon finally got a look and it sent people on Twitter into a frenzy. Ummm I am traumatized after seeing a scene from "Suspiria" in which Dakota Johnson controls the body of another woman as she dances. The woman's body literally cracks in half. She is like, torn apart. Spitting, urinating, bleeding. It's… A lot. #CinemaCon — Amy Kaufman (@AmyKinLA) April 26, 2018 First clip from Suspiria invokes a dancer being thrown around like a rag doll telekinetically in a mirrored rehearsal space, bones breaking, becoming a contorted mess. Very gruesome and hard to watch. This film will make most people feel uneasy. #CinemaCon — /Film (@slashfilm) April 26, 2018 Dakota Johnson stars alongside Chloe Grace-Moretz, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Angela Winkler, Sylvie Testud, Malgosia Bela, Jessica Harper, and Lutz Ebersdorf. Movie Review: Evolution of Evil (2017)

After a truly impressive opening of a car winding through secluded mountain roads viewed from above (think Kubrick, but doubtless shot utilizing a drone for a mere fraction of the cost of a helicopter…but damn does it look great), the story proper of Evolution of Evil gets underway; to wit: a young couple (maybe they are just friends…damned if I could tell), named Christopher and Lori for those of you keeping score at home, treks out to the middle of nowhere to get away from it all, and everything is artisanal beer and bratwurst until the silence of the night is split by distant gunshots. Well the following morning things go from pleasant to poopy as Chris is abducted (I know, right?!!) by some seriously fucked up woodsmen and subjected to all manner of rape and abuse (again, right?!!). Meanwhile Lori wanders the woods in a daze before being picked up by one of our batshit antagonists. What follows is

Former Police Officer Charged As The Golden State Serial Killer

From 1978 to 1986, the Golden State Killer (aka The East Area Rapist) took the lives of 12 people and raped 46 women in California. He often tied up men and forced them to watch their companions being raped before he killed them. The Golden State Killer’s murders and rapes were not linked until 2000. He remained nameless and free until Wednesday when a task force of local law enforcement and federal investigators announced that they had finally arrested a suspect. Tuesday afternoon Joseph James DeAngelo Jr. was taken into custody at his Sacramento home and charged with eight counts of murder. All of Wednesday and today authorities have continued to search home and property for clues. Scott Jones, the Sacramento County Sheriff, stated that the task force had been keeping surveillance of the 72-year-old man and retrieved his DNA from a discarded item. The DNA matched samples left at crime scenes. One of the disturbing aspects of the case

Movie Review: The Grave Caller (2017)

A young writer named Sam Talbot (Nathaniel Grauwelman) and his wife Veronica (Vanessa Cuccia) head out to a cabin in the sticks where he hopes to learn a lil’ somethin’ about the family tree…or the dark roots from which it grew. Finding his uncle’s diary, Sam learns that his alcoholic ancestor (Jacob Crickenberger) went a bit screwy after he witnessed his wife murdered by a psycho in a bunny mask (I loved this visual by the by)…or did he…I don’t really know, and neither will you (which is a plus if you ask me). Anyway, how will the sins of the past effect the present? I’m not telling…and I’m not even sure if I could! On the plus side, there are some beautiful visuals on display here (in particular in the surreal dream sequences), and the acting (in particular from Vanessa Cuccia as Veronica, and Jacob Crickenberger as the beleaguered Samuel were real stand outs) is mostly solid… The Grave
