After a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 virus, Athens, Greece’s Horrorant Film Festival is set to welcome audiences back to its shiver-inducing in-person cinema experience. This May, the fest will serve up 63 delightfully dark features and shorts. Following is the official press announcement. During its first 6 years of life, Horrorant Film Festival has been acknowledged as one of Europe’s most up’n’coming genre fests, and the ever-growing and hungry for exciting cinematic experiences for which fans respond more and more enthusiastically. Unfortunately, that was when Covid-19 hit and everything froze up. For two years, entertainment was considered almost banned and movie theaters paid a hard price. The “easy” solution of online screenings was never an option for us, due to our belief that movies belong in the cinemas. RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, and Shudder, AMC Networks’ streaming service for horror, thriller, and the supernatural have acquired the North American rights to the horror film, Allegoria ahead of its world premiere at Panic Fest. In Allegoria, a group of artists’ lives become unwittingly entangled as their obsessions and insecurities manifest monsters, demons, and death. Written by Spider One, who also makes his directorial debut, the film stars Krsy Fox (Frank), Adam Busch (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), and Bryce Johnson (“Pretty Little Liars”), and Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween). “Collaborating with emerging filmmakers/artists like Spider One is a top priority for us,” said Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer of RLJE Films. “We couldn’t be more proud to debut his first film. Anouk Whissell, Yoann-Karl Whissell, and François Simard, the brilliant filmmaking team that brought you Turbo Kid and the incredible thriller Summer of 84, are back and this time they are raising the dead in horror-comedy, We Are Zombies. “The offbeat comedic plot follows three slackers looking to earn some easy money who must fight an evil mega-corporation to save their kidnapped grandmother.” Variety reports. Alexander Nachi (“Clash”), Megan Peta Hill (“Riverdale”), and Derek Johns (Moonfall) star in the movie produced by Christal Film Productions, Full House, Maneki Films, and Sparkling, in association with Kinology. Henstridge and Hearst join previously announced cast members AnnaLynne McCord (Excision), Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”), and Stelio Savante (Infidel). Directed by Tommy Stovall (Room for Rent, starring Lin Shaye, interview), the film follows “a hapless psychoanalyst who is tasked with determining a woman’s fitness to stand trial after she commits an unspeakable crime. Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of Orphan: First Kill starring Isabelle Fuhrman. The movie is not the project that Fuhrman will be starring in. Deadline is reporting that the talented actress is also set to star in the upcoming cat-and-mouse thriller Unit 234. In the film, “Laurie Saltair (Fuhrman) discovers the comatose man, Clayton, in Unit 234 of her family’s storage facility, while working the night shift alone. What transpires is a thrill ride of a cat-and-mouse game for Laurie and Clayton to survive the night.” Directed by Andy Tennant, who is making his horror debut, and known for films such as Fool’s Gold, Sweet Home Alabama, and Hitch, the movie was written by Derek Steiner. .
