Visions, Vices, and Voices: David Howard Thornton Speaks in Michael Pickle’s The Dead Place’

High school is usually a nightmare of social hierarchy and exams, but for Isaac, the horror is a lot more literal. Writer/director Michael Pickle makes his feature debut with The Dead Place, an indie supernatural thriller that aims to prove some ghosts are harder to shake than a bad reputation. The film makes its digital debut on the BloodStreamTV streaming service on June 1, 2026, followed by a wide TVOD release on August 5. A Very Crowded Headspace Isaac (Idris Veliu) is a high school senior with a serious boundary issue: he can’t stop seeing dead people. Naturally, this makes him the campus outcast and creates a “fun” level of friction at the dinner table. His only ally is Katharine (Lexi Graves), a paranormal enthusiast who is determined to help him navigate his spectral sightings. However, things take a sharp turn into the demonic when the “New Kid” arrives. This mysterious stranger isn’t just looking for the cafeteria—he’s pushing Isaac

Earth to Colby (Canada, 2026) Official Synopsis An aspiring vlogger discovers a notebook detailing hidden portals in her hometown, leading her on a journey to discover the city’s supernatural history. After paranormal vlogger Colby vanishes, a documentary crew digs through her content and recovered footage to uncover the truth. What they find is her growing obsession with a strange coil-bound book and the escalating hauntings that followed. As Colby searches for a sign from her late father, friends and family reveal the chilling descent that led to her disappearance. Review Director/cowriter/cinematographer/editor Rino Mioc serves up an intriguing high strangeness faux documentary with Earth to Colby. Saylor McPherson gives a thoroughly engaging star performance as Colby, a young woman so fascinated with the paranormal that she centers her life around her vlog on the topic, despite the skepticism of her best friend Derrick (Casey Coston) and her mother Denise (Anne Hawthorne, McPherson’s real-life mother). Mioc, who cowrote the screenplay with Stephanie

Movie Review: The Ugly (1997) – Unearthed Films Blu-ray

One rainy eve, Dr. Karen Schumaker (Rebecca Hobbs) arrives at a dilapidated high-security mental institution to begin her assessment of serial killer Simon Cartwright (Paolo Rotondo)… and what an institution it is, ruled over by orderlies that look and act like thugs and watched over by the strange Dr. Marlowe (Roy Ward) who’s odd demeanor, outre fashion sense, and opulent koi pond-surrounded office make him a real stand out among the peeling paint and exposed wires of his stompin’ grounds. Anyway, our heroine goes on a journey through Simon’s troubled past… a past that includes an absolute aversion to being picked on, an abusive mother, and a high body count… which truth be told aren’t unreasonable things to encounter in a serial killer’s past… but what really begins to make Karen’s ears stand up is Simon’s insistence that some outside force whispers in his ears to do all that murder biz! Writer/Director Scott Reynolds delivers a stylish thriller (with a

Disco is officially dead, but the occult is thriving. Studio 54 legend Rockin’ Ronnie is trading glitter for gore. He has joined the cast of Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light. This found-footage installment aims to revitalize the iconic series. It swaps flashy stunts for a grounded, atmospheric dread. Ronnie joins a cast featuring horror veteran Andrew Pierson. Pierson previously appeared in Return of the Living Dead: Trash’s Revenge. The lineup also includes the talented Kristina Lafser. Both actors made waves in the film A Soldier’s Descent. The story dives into North Carolina’s deepest shadows. A paranormal team investigates the legend of “The Children of the Hollow.” This pagan cult is rooted in dark, local folklore. Their camera lenses capture things that should stay hidden. Seeking answers soon leads the crew into lethal territory. Movie Review: Exorcismo: Defying A Dictator & Raising Hell In Post-Franco Spain Boxset – Severin

After the Franco dictatorship ended ‘round about the mid ‘70s, Spanish cinema found themselves with a new freedom, through which filmmakers could now express themselves via tales of sin n’ Satan (and death… lots of it) all over that silver screen! Recently, Severin boxed up a selection of those fearless flicks (and a doc to bring us all up to speed on the genre)… so why not dip our terror toes into Exorcismo: Defying A Dictator & Raising Hell In Post-Franco Spain! Things kick off with that aforementioned documentary, Exorcismo: The Transgressive Legacy of Clasificada ‘S’ from Director Alberto Sedano. Exorcismo takes the viewer on a journey through just what we can expect from the features contained in this box-set (bet you couldn’t have guessed that one), and gives us both a historical understanding of the heavily censoring of filmmakers work under the regime of Francisco Franco, as well as the unbridled freedom they received after Franco’s death in 1975,

POV Horror Movie ‘Black Daruma’ Unleashes A Killer Doll

Playhouse directors, the Watts brothers, return with Black Daruma, a horror film shot in POV that injects dark humor into the doll subgenre with an inventive twist. Black Daruma follows Ryan, a down-on-his-luck man in his 30s. He seeks a life change and purchases a Japanese lucky “Daruma” doll. However, the doll brings anything but good fortune, twisting Ryan’s life into a hilarious and horrifying mess. Fionn Watts, one of the directors, describes the film as a playful yet sinister blend of “Gremlins” and “Paranormal Activity.” “We shot the entire film from the doll’s perspective,” he explains. “The audience becomes the doll, witnessing the unfolding chaos firsthand.” Filmed in just eight days, Black Daruma draws inspiration from the found footage genre and character-driven horror like Creep and Be My Cat. Co-director Toby Watts elaborates, “The disorienting POV keeps the audience guessing. We aimed for a bizarre and voyeuristic experience, highlighting the implosion of masculinity.” Fionn adds a surprising detail: “The
