The lady was the only member of her family to survive the Holocaust. The antique dealer found an interesting small locked cabinet. The woman’s grand daughter warned the man that is was indeed a ‘Dibbuk’ box and contained an evil spirit. He purchased the box anyway. He soon discovered that the woman’s warnings were real. The History Of The Ouija Board

There’s no time like the present for a quick history lesson. Almost every one of us have used a Ouija board at least once in our lives. More than likely the first experience you had with a board was at a sleep over asking silly questions like “Who will I marry?” or “Is Elvis really dead?”. At some point you probably got spooked and swore to never use one again, I know I did. Then there are those who seek answers and communications with those beyond in a more serious note. The word Ouija alone conjures fear and mystery. The Ouija has been widely used for almost 125 years. Talking boards have always been popular among practitioners of many religions, especially Spiritualists. The boards gained popularity during the 19th century thanks to the Fox sisters of New York. They supposedly began communicating with an entity that went by the name “Mr. Splitfoot” in 1884. The Fox sisters became celebrities in

Movie Review: Mercy (2014) Starring Chandler Riggs

The producers that brought us “The Purge” and “Paranormal Activity”, have brought us “Mercy”. This supernatural film revolves around George, a young boy with the ability to see what most can’t, spirits. When George’s beloved Grandmother falls ill from a stroke he, his brother and his mom move to the Grandmother’s house in the country to take care of her. The stroke is the least of his family’s problems. When you make a deal with a demon bad things tend to happen. Grandma is not who she once was. Shirley Knight The interaction between George’s character and the character of his Grandmother played by Shirley Knight (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) made the movie kind of sweet but creepy at the same time. The characters have a very strange and twisted family dynamic. The 150 year old house they are living in is the same one that their grandfather committed suicide in, by taking an ax to his own head. I

Each week I will delve into a sub genre of horror and provide a list of 15 horror movies that are a must see. This week, we will begin with the sub genre that spooks me the most, Supernatural horror. -The Exorcist (1973) A young girl suffers from demonic possession. Two priests set out to exorcise her demons in a battle for her soul. The Exorcist is one of the most important horror movies ever made! If you watch it, beware, you will never be able to eat split pea soup again. -The Shining (1980) The Shining is based on the novel by Stephen King of the same name, which was fantastic! Jack takes a job as a care taker for a remote resort (bad idea). Jack’s wife and son join him as they settle in at the closed resort for a long hard
