Netflix Unveils New Logo and Title for Upcoming “Ghostbusters” Series

If you thought the ghost-busting business was strictly a 9-to-5 gig, Netflix is about to prove that the real monsters only come out after the sun goes down. Following a major reveal at Tribeca’s over the weekend, the streaming giant has officially dropped the title and neon-soaked logo for its upcoming animated series: “Ghostbusters: Night Shift.” The animated comedy-action series is officially locked in to clock onto Netflix worldwide in 2027. The Graveyard Shift Got Graphic According to Netflix’s official preview, “Night Shift”—a massive joint venture with Sony Pictures Animation—aims to be the definitive next chapter in the franchise’s decades-long, ghoul-catching legacy. The show promises to seamlessly blend the high-concept supernatural comedy and kinetic paranormal action that made the original films blockbusters. Movie Review: Picture of a Nymph (1987) – 88 Films Blu-ray

Seemingly mute Taoist ghost-buster in training Sap Yee (frequent Jackie Chan flick regular Biao Yuen, Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain) takes in a kindly scholar, Chui Hung-Chien (Lawrence Ng, Sex and Zen) after he inadvertently burns his pad to the ground fighting a ghost that takes the form of an old man with sentient hair! Eventually, Sappy’s curmudgeonly master Wu Men-Chu (Wu Ma, A Chinese Ghost Story… he also directed and co-wrote this film) returns home after a ghostly encounter with the bewitching King Ghost (Elizabeth Lee in her debut) and it’s umbrella wielding minions. Speaking of ol’ King G, a young princess named Mok Sau (Joey Wang, again with the A Chinese Ghost Story) has recently offed herself to avoid it’s clutches and has in turn become a ghost… a ghost that Chui falls in love with! Will our heroes be able to defeat King Ghost and friends and bring peace to Mok Sau… or will they soon

Shudder and IFC Snag Alex Goyette’s Barking Mad Debut ‘Breeder’

If you thought the world of competitive dog grooming was cutthroat, wait until you see what happens when the pedigree gets political. Independent Film Company and Shudder have officially teamed up to acquire the distribution rights for Breeder, the highly anticipated debut feature from writer-director Alex Goyette. The blockbuster deal locks down screens across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The film is set to unleash its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival tomorrow, June 6, before heading to theaters this fall. The Ultimate Student Loan Trap The narrative framework of Breeder takes the crushing reality of higher-education debt and drops it directly into a blender with high-concept body horror. The story follows a flat-broke college student who thinks he’s struck gold when an eccentric poodle breeder invites him out to her remote ranch under the guise of an incredibly generous research funding grant. Naturally, because this is a Shudder acquisition, there is a massive, stomach-churning

‘Antlers’ Scribe Henry Chaisson Unleashing Nightmare Fuel ‘Recluse’ at Tribeca

If your ideal horror movie features a decaying mansion, an audio recorder, and an unhealthy dose of generational trauma, you are in luck. Henry Chaisson—the wonderfully twisted writer behind Antlers and Apple TV’s “Servant“—is officially making his feature directorial debut. He’s gearing up to serve us the gothic horror-thriller Recluse. Variety reports that mega-producer Steven Schneider has officially come on board as an executive producer via his acclaimed genre label, Spooky Pictures. Along with the announcement, a chilling new look at the film has been released, setting the stage for its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next month. The Art of the Audio Jump Scare The narrative framework of Recluse sounds like a textbook recipe for a psychological breakdown. Joan (Sasha Frolova, The Empty Man) is a fiercely solitary audio engineer who spends her life hiding behind headphones. She’s our hero. She receives a sudden, ominous phone call from her ailing father. He’s an acclaimed, reclusive artist who,

‘Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light’ Adds Acting Legend Eric Roberts to its Roster

Move over, Halloween. Step aside, Friday the 13th. If you want to talk about true, unkillable cinematic endurance, you have to talk about the Witchcraft franchise. Launched in the glorious, neon-soaked direct-to-video boom of 1988, this enduring occult franchise has quietly spen four decades racking up sequels at a pace that puts mainstream studio slashers to shame. Now, the franchise is clawing its way back into the light for its astonishing eighteenth installment: Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light. And because no legendary genre revival is complete without an iconic screen presence. The production has officially recruited the hardest-working man in Hollywood: Oscar nominee Eric Roberts. This Isn’t Your Video Rental Store’s Witchcraft For decades, the Witchcraft name was synonymous with delightfully campy, low-budget late-night cable staples. Heavy on the supernatural melodrama, light on the existential dread. But the team behind The Lanterne of Light is staging a massive coup. Director Carissa Pierson and writer/star Andrew Pierson (A Soldier’s Descent) are

One of the Most Controversial Films Ever Made is Coming to Theaters: Cannibal Holocaust!

It is turning out to be a truly spectacular year for cinephiles. If you thought modern horror movies were testing your limits, the granddaddy of theatrical trauma is returning to the big screen to show the new kids how it’s done. The saintly lunatics at Grindhouse Releasing are bringing Ruggero Deodato’s legendary, ultra-notorious faux-documentary Cannibal Holocaust to theaters nationwide. Yes, you heard that right. And get this, it’s a brand-new, fully uncensored 4K restoration presented in its native 16mm. It’s the crispest, cleanest, and most agonizingly detailed look at the stomach-turning film you will ever get. The Movie So Realistic, the Director Got Arrested For the uninitiated or the blissfully unaware, the 1980 classic follows four arrogant young documentary filmmakers who head deep into the Amazon rainforest, only to suffer a brutal death at the hands of an indigenous tribe who decide they’re what’s for dinner. A Creepypasta Legend Comes to Life in the Horror Anthology 'The Summoning'

A Creepypasta Legend Comes to Life in the Horror Anthology ‘The Summoning’

What begins as a foolish schoolyard dare quickly mutates into a waking nightmare in The Summoning. The upcoming indie horror anthology is heavily inspired by the viral, internet-spawned lore of modern creepypastas. For fans of internet folklore, this release promises to deliver a refreshing descent into madness. Don’t Look in the Mirror The overarching narrative anchoring the anthology breathes terrifying new life into an infamous urban legend. The official synopsis lays out a tense, claustrophobic premise. A routine babysitting gig rapidly deteriorates into a fight for survival when three teenagers foolishly attempt to summon the malevolent entity known as Baby Blue. As the entity takes hold, the teens discover that their only hope of surviving the night lies in digging up a long-buried, dark past. Much like the classic playground terrors of Bloody Mary, The Summoning takes on the childhood thrill of tempting the paranormal. It infuses it with the visceral, high-stakes dread of contemporary supernatural thrillers. A Collaborative Vision

Game Review: 'WILL: Follow the Light'

Game Review: ‘WILL: Follow the Light’

When it comes to walking sims, they pretty much all fall victim to monotony. The stories tend to always be the same, little else is going on, and most of the games copy one another. Tomorrowhead Studio’s WILL: Follow the Light may have fallen into this, BUT, have done it a little differently. WILL: Follow the Light follows Will, a lighthouse keeper who is searching for his son after a landslide took out most of their hometown. After learning that his estranged father took his son out to sea to fish during the disaster, Will sets sail in search of them, where he confronts the loss of his wife, his childhood, and his fears of turning into his father. Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the controls, it’s mainly limited, but quick to learn, like most walking sims. I really enjoyed the game’s soundtrack, but I wish more of it played during the game, as it seems
