Ahead of its world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival this month, the first trailer has arrived for Ghost Light, the story of an unfortunate Shakespearean acting troupe that unleashes the infamous curse of Macbeth with horrifying results. Directed by John Stimpson, the paranormal thriller stars Roger Bart (“Episodes;” “Graves;” “Revenge”), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride; Robin Hood Men in Tights; Saw), Tom Riley (“The Collection;” “Da Vinci’s Demons;” “Monroe”), Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale; “Wayward Pines;” “Sleepy Hollow”), Scott Adsit (“30 Rock;” Big Hero 6; “Veep”), Danielle Campbell (“The Originals;” “Famous in Love;”), and Carol Kane (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt;” Scrooged; “Gotham”). “Nothing is more sacred to true Shakespearian actors than “The Scottish Play,” which demands a deep reverence to always be exhibited both onstage and off during a performance, except the reverence from ennui-engulfed Tom Riley is a bit lacking, to say the least. He’s in love with the beautiful Liz Beth, wife of pompous ham Alex Pankhurst.

Movie Review: Blood Child (2017)

After we have the hoary ol’ chestnut of “based on a true story” flashed before our eerie eyeballs we catch up with Bill and Ashely “Ash” DiAngelo (Biden Hall and Alyx Melone respectively), a married couple livin’ high on the hog in Singapore with a baby on the way…well, until it isn’t. So after that disturbing, crimson splashed miscarriage, Ash sinks into an understandable deep depression. So what is a femme in a funk to do? Why carry out the ancient East Asian practice of raising a “ghost child” as one does, much to the eternal chagrin of Ash’s maid Siti (Cynthia Lee MacQuarrie). Long story short, Ash contacts a witch doctor whom specializes in trapping unborn dead fetuses. Before you can say “monumentally shitty idea”, the couple (along with Siti) returns home to Minnesota where they discover they are pregnant..and let’s just say that ghost tyke ain’t taking a cotton to being the big sis to any flesh and

Movie Review: The Bad Nun (2018)

After a hella long ass cold open we meet Aesha (Becca Hirani), a party dude with ‘tude (yeah so she’s female, whatever), and her mom who is having none of her booze soaked ways. So what does she do to make sure her daughter can get on the straight and narrow before she ships out to college? Why sending her off to a remote bed and breakfast so she can chill the fuck out of course. Sounds all fine and dandy…except the B&B was formerly a nunnery and before you can say “This film was re-titled to cash in on the Conjuring spin-off The Nun” an evil nun starts causing static…eventually. First Aesha is charged with looking in on the caretakers ailing daughter, and meets the French occupant of another property nearby who uses the main house for piss purposes. Why am I mentioning all this? I’m not sure really…Anyway, a nun appears, begins murdering people then begins showing up

Movie Review: Muse (2017)

Lit Prof. Samuel Salomon (now there’s a name that would make ol’ Stan Lee green with envy that he didn’t thunk of it first…oh, and he’s played by Elliot Cowan) is one grief stricken mother fucker. You see, a year ago his girlfriend bought the farm and he hasn’t been able to work since! Along with that major bummer, he keeps having nightmares of a mystery woman gettin’ hers at the hands of some arcane acolytes during one of your occult rituals that the kids dig so much these days. As fate and fright flick conventions would have it; the woman turns up dead in the really real world in the same manner of demise as peeped in our hero’s dream. Because common sense has never been an attribute of any protagonist in a horror film ever, Sammy visits the crime seen and encounters Rachel (Franka Potente); a lady that had the same damn nocturnal torment as S-dawg! The dynamic
