The World of Art Has Lost A Legend In Bernie Wrightson

Hello my Little Monsters. Today I greet you with a heavy heart, since the art world has lost a legendary member of its ranks, Bernie Wrightson. Bernie had retired in January of this year, citing health issues he had experienced following brain surgery. Sadly, earlier today he lost his battle with brain cancer. Bernie got his start as an illustrator for The Baltimore Sun, but it was a chance meeting with his one of his major artistic influences (and one of my personal favorites), Frank Frizetta, that inspired him to delve into comic book art. Bernie’s first endeavor for DC Comics was creating the art for a story in the March/April 1968 issue of House of Mystery (No. 179), entitled “The Man Who Murdered Himself”. Three years later Bernie would team with writer Len Wein to create arguably hist most famous creation Swamp Thing for the July 1971 issue of DC’s House of Secrets (No. 92). Bernie had done the

An Interview With John Woodruff The Director Of Animal Among Us

One thing we don’t get enough of these days are real monster movies, director John Woodruff is looking to change that with Animal Among Us. He aims to deliver a real horror film by a horror fan, for horror fans. John sat down with me for an interview and to explain why Animal Among Us is a film people don’t want to miss. Animal Among Us is a story about a monster… Fifteen years ago, two teenage girls were murdered at Merrymaker Campgrounds. The case was filed an animal attack, the camp was condemned and the killer never found – but something horrific still waits in those woods. Horror Fuel: “When did you know that you wanted to be a filmmaker?” JW: “Good question. It was kind of an evolution. The first time I can remember a film really appealing to me was in a theater when my parents took me to see Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Part Two Of The IT Remake Ready To Begin Production

Part one of the new reboot of Stephen King’s IT is scheduled to open in theaters on September 8th of this year. Even with the release date still months away, director Andy Muschietti is ready to begin working on the second installment. While making the next installment before the results are in from part 1’s box office sales is a rare thing in Hollywood, Muschietti is wasting no time, with filming set to begin on March 17th. Both installments were penned by Gary Dauberman and Chase Palmer. The first film centers on a group of teens, referred to as the “Losers Club”. On a daily basis they face bullies and now a monster that takes the shape of a demented clown known as Pennywise, has arrived in their sleepy little town of Derry Maine. The second will involve the “Losers Club” who have come back to town as adults and must once again face Pennywise. Bill Skarsgard stars as Pennywise,

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Jen and Sylvia, The Soska Sisters

As we all know, my Little Monsters, February only has 28 days or 29 when we happen to be in a leap year. And while Women in Horror Month officially ended yesterday, I’m going to buck the trend and add one more day…Just because I feel like it. Frankly I believe that the talented women in horror, or women in general for that matter, should be recognized and celebrated EVERY day of every month. So without further ado, lets get this show on the road. The horror genre got it’s hooks into Jen and Sylvia at a very young age, and the movie responsible – Poltergeist. The precocious pair would also tear through Stephen King novels as quickly as they could get their eager little hands on them. And much like the rest of us genre fans, in the heyday of VHS and video stores, the impressionable pair would take pleasure in perusing the horror section of their local video

Plot Unveiled For Season 2 Of Stranger Things

Earlier this week the first images from Season two of Netflix’s hit original series ‘Stranger Things’ surfaced. Today, the plot has been unveiled, via EW. Season two of ‘Stranger Things’ picks up almost a year from the events of season one, on Halloween (with the boys dressed as the Ghostbusters). Will has reunited with his friends after being stuck in the “Upside Down”. But Will is not well. Remember that slug looking thing he coughed up in the finale? He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down – the questions is whether they’re real or not,” Co-creator Matt Duffer stated. “So it seems like he’s having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder.” While his mom (Winona Ryder) is trying to make things stable for her sons, she is now dating Bob (Sean Astin), an old high school classmate. She is trying to mask a lot,” Ryder said. “I think she’s made this choice with Bob because she wants

We may have a trailer to watch within the next day or so for the newest adaption of Stephen King’s IT. This assumption comes after IT producer Barbara Muschietti, dropped a series of post on Instagram featuring photos from the set of the film featuring Jaeden Wesley, Chosen Jacobs, Jack D. Grazer, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Wyatt Oleff, Sophia Lillis and Finn Wolfhard in character as the Losers clan (fans of the Stephen King adaption and novel would know I’m referring to the Loser Club, a club formed by the characters as a way of joining together all misfits). [Related: Take A Walk Through Derry With These New Shots From The IT Remake] Below you’ll find a series of screen-shots I took from Muschietti’s Instagram page featuring the actors and their assigned roles in hashtag. The posting of these photos, which were done daily for about a week, suggest production is doing a countdown to some big reveal. Like the 1990

Pet Sematary Documentary ‘Unearthed & Untold’ Arrives On Digital HD

We have been following the development of John Campiano and Justin White’s horror documentary ‘Unearthed & Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary‘ for a while now. The Documentary features interviews with Director Mary Lambert and the entire cast; including Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby, Miko Hughes, Brad Greenquist, Susan Blommaert, the Berdahl Twins and many more. The film also features never-before-seen footage from the sets in Maine, interviews with key crew, the town’s people and will be packed full of bonus features, including a fan appreciation sizzle reel, a personal interview with the documentary filmmakers and much, much more. When we first set out for Maine nearly six years ago we thought, at most, we would take some photographs of the filming locations from Stephen King’s Pet Sematary and post them to social media. But upon that very first visit we knew that we had stumbled upon something special — stories, people, and places that had been barely documented for the
