Help Bring The Hollywood Horror Museum To Life

There is currently a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the first educational nonprofit museum of it’s kind, The Hollywood Horror Museum. The museum would educate the public on the legacy of horror films, TV, makeup, art, and literature. The museum’s board includes a list of who’s who in horror, Clive Barker, Joe Dante, Tom Holland, Sean S. Cunningham, Victoria Price, Mick Garris, Jennifer Lynch, Tim Lucas, Jen and Sylvia Soska and Sara Karioff. “In March of 2015, when our Hollywood Science Fiction Museum was preparing for it’s 2016 exhibit, many Sci-Fi/Horror film props were offered to us including Alien and John Carpenter’s The Thing. It became apparent these gory props had no place in a science fiction museum that taught NASA space and real science through sci-fi, but since there is no nonprofit educational Horror Museum anywhere in the world that teaches filmmaking, special effects, makeup and the history of horror in films, TV, art and literature, we decided to

Paramount Has Ordered The Reboot Of ‘Pet Sematary’

The latest horror film to join the long list of remakes/reboots is the classic film, ‘Pet Sematary’. ’28 Weeks Later’ director Jaun Carlos Fresnadillo will be directing the reboot of ‘Pet Sematary’, which was based on the Stephen King novel by the same name. Jeff Buhler, who penned ‘The Midnight Meat Train’, wrote the script for the new version. The new version of the 1989 classic will focus more on the family’s emotional aspect of the story. Buhler has made the comments that this film will be very different than the classic, but will still retain certain events. Right now the reboot is in early preproduction and is waiting budget approval from Paramount, but they hope to start filming at the end of this year. Buhler My question to Paramount, why? ‘Pet Sematary’ is already the best it could possibly be. I hear romantic comedies could use some work, go reboot their movies and leave us horror fans alone to

The Mothers Of Horror

Today we celebrate the mothers that made us who we are. Let us take a look at the mothers who made our favorite horror characters who they are and moms who made some of our favorite horror movies awesome. Norma Bates : Mother to Norman Bates. Norma and Norman’s relationship was key to Hitchcock’s ‘Psycho’ (1960). Through out the original movie we see glimpses of Norma moving about and committing murder or did we? No, at the end of the movie we find out it was all Norman, played by Anthony Perkins, dressed as his mom. Norma has been dead for years and kept in the house in her chair. We also learn of the strange relationship between Norma and Norman. The question is, was the relationship that turned Norman into a twisted killer or was he just born that way? The New Pennywise Has Been Cast

Cary Fukunaga is directing the new remake of the classic horror movie ‘IT’. Both the original mini series and the new film are based on the book by Stephen King. ‘IT’ tells the story of a group of teens called ‘The Losers Club’. The group must band together to battle a creepy creature that appears as a killer clown named Pennywise. Decades later the group returns to town and must once again go head to head with the clown, played by Tim Curry. Fukunaga’s version will be split into two movies. In the first movie they will address the battle of the kids and the second will cover the fight by the adults. The man to play the part of Pennywise in the new film is Will Poulter. Poulter, up till now, has played mostly comedic and light hearted roles, like the one he played in ‘We Are the Millers’. In my personal opinion, I don’t think anyone could fill

An Interview With Horror Photographer Joshua Hoffine

Joshua Hoffine is one of the most prolific modern day horror photographers in the world, at least that’s my opinion. When he granted me an interview I had a serious fan girl moment. I love Horror and I love art, when you combine the two you get something amazing. About five years ago I came across a horror picture that was completely captivating, the title of the photo, “Hands”. A woman in a ball gown being pulled through the floor by a mass of hands. I had to know more about the artist. When I found Joshua Hoffine’s website, I was blown away. What I though was a painting was actually a photograph. Hoffine’s skill and talent are off the charts. He captures a scene and with a flair that is rare to find. ‘Hands’ KM “How old were you when you discovered your love for photography?” JH “I started making photographs shortly after graduating from college. I discovered a

Pennywise Is Coming To New York!

The reboot of the 1990 miniseries ‘IT’, based on the Stephen King novel by the same name, is finally entering the pre-production phase of filming. After a five year wait, ‘IT’ will begin filming this June in New York. The new version of ‘IT’ will be divided into two films and possibly a trilogy by director Cary Fukunaga. Writers Seth Grahame Smith, David Kajganich and Chase Palmer wrote the script for the new ‘IT’. Director Cary Fukunaga The biggest delay in filming has been trying to find a new Pennywise who can match Tim Curry’s performance as the killer clown (if that’s even possible). There is no word yet who has been cast as the new Pennywise or who else will star in ‘IT’. ‘It’ follows the story of a group of adults who have returned to their home town, where they were tormented as children by bullies and by visions of a killer clown named Pennywise. The seven kids

Author Interview: John L. Davis of American Revenant Series

I’m doing something a bit different this week. Rather than posting a book review, I’m sharing an interview I had the opportunity to do for Gores Truly with author John L. Davis of the American Revenant series. He agreed to chat with me regarding the American Revenant series, and offered to give us some insight into himself, his process, and what we can expect from this shining new author in the future. If you are unfamiliar with Davis’ work, you can find a review of his debut novel American Revenant: Hometown Exodus. The series is set in Hannibal, MO and features a community of people who band together to survive a zombie apocalypse. It is honestly one of the best zombie series’ I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a long time, and I would encourage you to check it out if you haven’t. American Revenant: Hometown Exodus and American Revenant: Settlers and Sorrow are both available for Kindle download.
