Feast Your Eyes On The Shining’s Overlook Hotel Gingerbread House

It’s a custom for families to build gingerbread houses during the holiday, but filmmakers Aaron and Austin Keeling took it a step further. They have recreated The Shining‘s Overlook Hotel and its grounds in an amazing four foot-long gingerbread house . The detail is amazing. The gingerbread house features multiple scenes from Stanley Kurbick’s 1980 film, based on Stephen King’s novel. The hotel is constructed out of gingerbread, icing, candy, fondant, lights, Rice Krispies and powdered sugar.

‘Salem’s Lot Sucks Like A Good Vampire Movie Should

Vampires Are Back “Barlow! He’s a vampire! He must be destroyed!” — David Soul, Salem’s Lot That’s a line of dialogue from the cheesy and absolutely fun 1979 mini series, ‘Salem’s Lot. While it comes nowhere near the elegance and terror of the Stephen King novel, it totally avoids the cynicism and emptiness of the 2004 remake with Rob Lowe and Donald Sutherland. When you have vampires, especially scary vampires, why is there a need for sexual predator fathers and teachers? This was not a subject of the book, so why did the 2004 remake need to add this dimension? It’s like the Amityville Horror films (which none, and I mean ZERO are good horror films) you have all these ghosts, why does the house have to explode or someone chases someone with an axe or commit incest? Aren’t the ghosts scary enough? At least the original 1979 B movie gave us a puking a nun and a wonderful hamfisted

The Gunslinger, First In The Dark Tower Series, To Star Matthew McConaughey

For a while now the franchise based on Stephen King’s novels has almost become a movie, a show, and back and forth, with no project actually seeing completion. We reported back in December of 2014 that the first ‘The Dark Tower’ Film was coming, but the cast and director has since changed. Now, once again, a ‘Dark Tower’ film series is in the works. The project is being directed by ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s’ Nikolaj Arcel, based on a script penned by Akiva Goldsman. The first film of the three film series will focus on King’s first book in the collection, ‘The Gunslinger’. Matthew McConaughey has been offered not one role in the film, but two to pick from. Word is he’s leaning more towards the darker role at the moment. ‘The Gunslinger’ is

‘IT’ Remake Finally Moving Forward

We reported earlier this year that a re-imagining of Stephen King’s classic ‘IT’ was in the works. Director Cary Fukunaga has since been replaced by Andy Muschietti (Mama). Variety offered an update earlier this week revealing that the first film in the new two-part series is set to begin filming next summer, one year later than originally planned. Will Poulter (We Are the Millers) had signed on to play Pennywise when Fukunaga was in charge, but it’s unclear at the moment if he will still play the creepy clown under Muschietti’s direction. There will be two films in place of King’s one. The first will focus on the group of kids from the original story, tormented by Pennywise. The second will follow the group as adults, returned to their home town, faced with Pennywise’s stalking once again.
