IT Begins Filming This Summer

Earlier this year Cary Fukunaga exited the remake of 1990’s IT, based on the novel by Stephen King. Andres Mauschietti (Mama) has now stepped in to direct. Filming is set to begin in Toronto and will run from June 27th to September 6th, according to the Canadian paper 24 Hours. After years of rumors and problems it seems this time the first installment of IT, penned by Gary Doberman, really is coming. A second IT film featuring the same characters (as adults) will come later. IT is very close to the source material in one way but very different if you look at it as a literary piece of work.” Producer Roy Lee says. “We’re taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults that could potentially then be cut together like the novel. But it’s gonna be a really fun way

Image Of Apparition Captured At The Stanley Hotel

The Children’s Museum of Houston Texas’ publicist, Henry Yau, is getting a taste of internet fame. It has nothing to do with the Children’s Museum, but stems from a photo he recently took inside the Stanley Hotel. In the photo a ghostly figure is captured standing at the top of the hotel’s grand staircase. Yau posted the photo on instagram (ares415) and it quickly went viral. In an interview with Click2Houston.com Yau stated that he did not take the photo in the dark and that he did not realize what was in the photo until the next day. The Stanley Hotel, made famous by Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film adaption of Stephen King’s The Shining, is located in Estes Park, Colorado. It not only embraces its title as one of the most haunted locations in the U.S., it celebrates it and even holds ghost tours. The Stanley’s official website includes a history section that mentions two particular ghosts that haunt its

An Interview With Award Winning Horror Author Owl Goingback

I spent much of last night talking with a very charming, intelligent, and funny horror author by the name of Owl Goingback. Owl is not only a witty multi award winning author, and speaker, he is also a paranormal investigator, who sometimes helps families and businesses deal with things that go bump in the night. You may have guessed by his name that he is Native American, and you would be right. Goingback is half Cherokee and half Choctaw, yes like the song. Every novel he writes is infused with the legends and teachings of Native Americans along with terrifying creatures and killers. He also tours and lectures on the subject. You might find Goingback at one of the horror conventions or a Pow Wow, where both his sons compete as dancers, in and around Florida. I talk to a lot of people in the horror industry, but I’ve found it rare to meet someone with such love and zest

He Who Walks Behind The Rows Has Returned – A New Children Of The Corn Sequel Currently Filming

There are few things creepier than kids in horror films. One of the most popular franchises featuring evil kids is Children of the Corn. And a new sequel, the tenth film of the franchise, is filming as we speak. Joel Soisson (Children of the Corn: Genesis) penned the new script and John Gulager (Feast, Piranha 3DD) is in the director’s chair. Little else is known about the project at this point. Dimension Films has not revealed if the new Children of the Corn will be direct to DVD like many if its predecessors or who has been cast. Many believe that Dimension is rushing to make the film due to the fact that if a new film of a franchise isn’t made every six years, they will loose the rights to the franchise. But I guess we will find out soon enough. The original Children of the Corn premiered on March 9, 1984 and centered on a couple trapped in

Casting Has Begun For Pet Sematary’s Reboot

In 1989, Mary Lambert created a horror classic when she directed the movie adaption of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary. This past July we reported that Pet Sematary was boarding the remake train. The project is now moving forward with 28 Weeks Later director Carlos Fresnadillo at the helm, working off of a script he co-wrote with Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train). During an interview with Dread Central Buhler gave an update about the status on their reboot. “They are currently out to cast, and they are going for some bigger names, so it’s taking some time.” He did not mention any names, but it does sound as if they’re going big.” Last year Buhler told Dread Central that “The characters in this script make some tragic decisions. There are still the supernatural aspects of the book, with the pet cemetery and the burial ground from which things come back from the dead, but the real horror is, what do

Spike Has Ordered The Pilot For The Series Adaption Of The Mist

Last year we reported that a television series from Dimension Television was in the works based on Stephen King’s The Mist. Now, we can report that Spike has officially ordered the pilot from acclaimed writer Christian Torpe. The series will use both King’s novel and the 2007 film as inspiration. The series will tell an original story about a mist, filled with otherworldly terrors, that takes over a small town. Tensions between neighbors escalates as the creatures in the mist draw closer, but they must find a way to band together to survive. The 2007 film was written and directed by Frank Darabont and stars Thomas Jane, Laurie Holden, Sam Witwer and Melissa McBride. It was both terrifying and heart breaking. I’m curious to see how it translates as series.
