One of his most recent projects is that of the horror film At Granny’s House, which he wrote, directed, produced and stars in. He plays the role of Ted Steiner, the love interest of Rebecca, played by Rachel Alig. Bill Oberst Jr. co-stars. Les took us inside the film, along with others, and revealed some really interesting stuff. Horror Fuel: “Your film ‘At Granny’s House’ will soon be out. I would love it if you would tell our readers a bit about it.” Les Mahoney: “‘At Granny’s House’ is a Hitchcockian that I wrote and Directed. The idea came from my mother-in-law’s home in eastern Colorado near Kansas. My wife and

Movie Review: Hunting Lands (2018)

Poor Frank (Marshall Cook), all he wanted to do is get away from everyone and everything and begin an exciting new life freezing his ever-loving balls off in the cool, cool Michigan wilderness (in the dead of winter no less). Seems simple enough, except some first rate a-hole decides to dump a body practically in the backyard of his new home. Upon dragging the tarp wrapped corpse home, Frank discovers that there is still life left in the ol’ girl, Maggie (Keyna Reynolds) by name, after all…well barely, and decides to find out who the man is that left her for dead and why. The two finally meet at a bar, and Frank invites the man, whom he discovers is named Lance (Joe Raffa), to hunt on his land. What follows is one of the most tense series of events I’ve ever set my eerie eyeballs upon! Nearly devoid of dialog, featuring a cool, de-saturated color pallet, and relying on

Cannes Film Festival “Best Actress” award winner Diane Kruger (Inglorious Basterds) stars in the thriller In the Fade set to be released this month. Movie Review: Prodigy (2018)

On the skids psychologist James Fonda (Richard Neil…who we recently interviewed right here) is called in to one of your garden variety top secret government facilities by an old classmate named Olivia (Jolene Andersen) to assist in examining Ellie (Savannah Liles) a whip smart telekinetic girl. Of course those that run the facility want to carve Ellie up like a Christmas goose to see what makes her so damn special. Making excellent use of a small cast and only a handful of locations (4 by my count, with interiors used to clinical and claustrophobic perfection), Prodigy is an impressive low budget sci-fi thriller. Neil and Liles deliver strong performances, their relationship grows believably, and the plight of young Ellie is an engaging one (if a bit derivative of King’s Firestarter here and there…minus the fire of course), and contains both strong emotional content, well-done visual effects to illustrate our young protagonists psychic powers, and a mounting tension as her fate looks

Prodigy’s Richard Neil Talks Acting & Supernatural Powers In An Interview

Richard Neil, best known for his work as Aratak in the best-selling video game ‘Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds’ and for such films and TV series as “Veronica Mars” and “Eli Stone”, stars in the upcoming supernatural thriller Prodigy, a film about a psychologist who engages a dangerous, young genius in a battle of wits — unaware of the supernatural power the girl possesses, or that her life hangs in the balance. Neil was kind enough to take us inside Prodigy and answer a few of my questions about both the film and his career. Horror Fuel: “: How did your work in theater prepare you for your acting career?” Richard Neil: “Well, for me, it’s getting over yourself, and trying to conquer one’s nerves. Relaxation and staying present really is the secret. Being “in the moment” as they say, not anticipating what is to come. Even though you’ve rehearsed it a thousand times, doing whatever it takes to
