Trailers Arrive for Emotional Horror Films “Nocturna: Side A – The Great Old Man’s Night” and “Nocturna: Side B – Where the Elephants Go to Die”

Argentinian horror outing Nocturna: Side A – The Great Old Man’s Night is an incredible, emotional slice of fear-fare cinema that made my list of Top 10 Film Festival Horror Movies of 2021 and now the film is coming to DVD and Digital on January 18, along with its companion piece, Nocturna: Side B – Where the Elephants Go to Die. Check out the trailers below, along with information from the official press release. Breaking Glass Pictures is set to release Argentine writer-director Gonzalo Calzada’s (Resurrection, Lucifernia) double bill Nocturna: Side A – The Great Old Man’s Night and Nocturna: Side B – Where the Elephants Go to Die on DVD and Digital on January 18. “Nocturna: Side A – The Great Old Man’s Night” follows a nearly 100-year-old man who, on his final night on earth, fights for redemption from his life’s misdeeds. New Featurette Explores Jared Leto's 'Morbius'

‘Morbius’ Hit With Another Delay

Well, boils and ghouls, we’ve got some bad news. Just ahead of its theatrical release, Sony has delayed the release of Marvel’s Morbius (again). Last announced to be opening in theaters on January 28th, Morbius will now be landing in theaters this April. Deadline is reporting that “one factor motivating the push was Sony’s huge (continuing) success with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which established itself as the highest-grossing film of 2021,” bringing in $1.37 billion at box offices and will continue to show on screens meant for Morbius. Jared Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life. Tyrese Gibson stars as FBI agent Simon Stroud; Jared Harris (“The Terror”) plays Morbius’ mentor; Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”) plays the film’s villain Loxias Crown; and Adria Arjona

Blu-ray Review: Climate of the Hunter (2015)

Blu-ray Review: Climate of the Hunter (2015)

Two sisters, the timid, practical Elizabeth (Mary Buss) and artsy free spirit Alma (Ginger Gilmartin), reconnect with their friend, the suave and worldly writer Wesley (Ben Hall), after two decades apart. Over the course of many (bizarre ’70s era) meals (all announced in separate vignettes), the trio catch up… and we delve deeper and deeper into the triangle’s various psychoses while the atmosphere grows ever more like an extended fever dream where a normal relationship drama becomes something that grows completely into a psychotropic soap opera replete with a “love” triangle, strange offspring, and a whole mess of red wine. Let me sum things up a bit early and announce: “Holy fuck did I love Climate of the Hunter!” Set in a Neo-Romanticized Pseudo-Transylvania (all humble cabins sitting among leafless trees under slate grey skies) of sorts, director Mickey Reece (who also co-wrote the film along with John Selvidge) put a fiercely unique spin on the ol’ vampire biz… yup,

Horror Fuel.com’s Top 10 Film Festival Horror Movies of 2021

Horror Fuel.com’s Top 10 Film Festival Horror Movies of 2021

This year was an outstanding one for horror films making the film festival rounds, which is where I see most of my movies each year. Thankfully, many films are making it to wider release quicker than in the past — for example, my #1 film of 2021 is already available on VOD, and several of my honorable mentions are on streaming services or on DVD or Blu-ray. Keep the following films in mind because some of them just may be future favorites for you in 2022! 1. The Feast (Wales) Director Lee Haven Jones’ Welsh outing The Feast — a blend of folk, psychological, environmental, and supernatural horror — instantly became my favorite film of the year, regardless of genre, when I saw it as part of SXSW Online 2021 in March. In my Horror Fuel review, I said that The Feast is an “eerie slice of horror cinema that jangles the nerves and does a beautiful job of slowly

The 5 Scariest Things That Have Ever Happened In Movies

The 5 Scariest Things That Have Ever Happened In Movies

One thing’s for sure: There’s been no shortage of horror films over the years. Indeed, it’s extraordinary to think that the project widely regarded as the first-ever “horror” film was a three-minute short recorded in 1896! Le Manoir du Diable (or The House of the Devil as it was known across America) was crafted by George Méliès. And as Far Out Magazine alluded to looking into the film’s history, its reputation stems largely from its having the first scene depicting the transformation of a man into a bat –– the first vampire scene. Perhaps it’s not overly frightening to watch now, but it certainly highlights the power of a scene (as well as how far the horror genre has come in terms of special effects and blood-curdling storylines!). Thinking of the genre in these terms –– of iconic scary scenes, that is –– it’s awfully difficult to narrow things down. But we’ve put together a list of worthy moments that

Blu-ray Review: Retribution (1987)

Blu-ray Review: Retribution (1987)

Suicidal artist George Miller (Dennis Lipscomb, who gives the frowniest performance since Mark Frost in Brian Yuzna’s Faust: Love of the Damned) takes a swan dive off a tall building, but after a brief stay-over in The Who’s laser-light tunnel (previously utilized for fucking by Frank Langella in John Badham’s 1979 adaptation of that grand-pappy of all vampire whoppers, Dracula)… which is populated by a screaming, floating zombie head… our hero is revived and sent to stay in an institution. Once there he gets wellish (minus those nightmares where he’s a murderous lunatic) and soon returns to his apartment in the same shitty building he jumped off when this whole debacle began! So about those “nightmares”… George keeps getting involved with random people… and he makes them kill themselves with his newly-acquired glow-y green eyes and evil-ass voice… in-between attending a “welcome home” party in his honor where hookers and little people in fireman’s helmets cavort to records that were

The Top 10 Best Horror Shows Of 2021

The Top 10 Best Horror Shows Of 2021

10. Midnight Mass (review) One of the new series the streaming giant, Netflix, unleashed this year is “Midnight Mass” from brilliant filmmaker Mike Flanagan, whose winning relationship with Netflix has given us hit series such as “The Haunting of Hill House” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” In “Midnight Mass“, “The arrival of a charismatic young priest brings glorious miracles, ominous mysteries, and renewed religious fervor to a dying town desperate to believe.” While I did have issues with some of the elements of the show, mainly the ending, it belongs on this list due to the quality of the series and its incredible all-star cast. 9. Shadow and Bone Dark and supernatural, the series, an adaptation of the best-selling Grishaverse novels, is set in a war-torn world where Alina Starkov has just discovered a power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she
