The television adaption of Stephen King’s 1980 novella The Mist has now gotten the go-ahead. Straight-to-series orders have been given from Spike TV, according to Deadline.
The network ordered the pilot from Dimension Television for the series back in February and it sounds like they like what they’ve seen. The script for The Mist will be written by Christian Torpe, who will also serve as executive producer.
The series will use both King’s novel and the 2007 film as inspiration. It will tell an original story about a mist, filled with otherworldly terrors, that takes over a small town. Tensions between neighbors escalates as the creatures in the mist draw closer, but they must find a way to band together to survive.
The 2007 film adaption was written and directed by Frank Darabont and stars Thomas Jane, Laurie Holden, Sam Witwer and Melissa McBride. It was both terrifying and heart breaking. I look forward to seeing Spike TV’s version of the story.
