Tony Todd Returning For Jordan Peele’s “Spiritual Sequel” To Candyman

Months after it was announced that Jordan Peele will be making the “spiritual sequel” to Candyman with Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II set to star, fans are still concerned that Tony Todd, who made the character Candyman iconic, wouldn’t be reprising his role as the supernatural killer. Fans can relax, Todd is returning! While at Nickel City Con in New York, Todd revealed his return and had this to say: Out of the blue I got a phone call from Jordan Peele. We’re still waiting for the contract, but the way he explained it to me was that it’s gonna be applause-worthy moments. That’s his words. No matter what happens with that, it’s gonna just put renewed attention on the original. With Nia DaCosta in the director’s chair, for the film. He spoke about the confusion and the horror community’s reaction when Abdul-Mateen‘s casting was announced. Well, it’s been slightly misreported,” DaCosta said. “I can’t say what’s happening in the

Well, it’s been slightly misreported,” DaCosta said. “I can’t say what’s happening in the film because we want it to be a surprise, but he’s not replacing Tony Todd. That’s been reported, and I was just like, ‘I don’t know what to say about this. This is not right.” At the moment we have no clue what’s going to happen in the film, but we’re glad to hear that Tony Todd has not been replaced. So that leaves the question of who will Yahya Abdul-Mateen II play? Here’s what we do know: Teyonah Parris

Candyman Reboot Announces First Star And Release Date

Jordan Peele, whose “Twilight Zone” revival is set to premiere this April, has begun working on his reboot of the 1992 horror classic Candyman. In fact, the first star has just been announced. LaKeith Stanfield, who appeared in Peele’s hit Get Out, is set to star as Anthony, “a socially pronounced artist in Chicago who researches the urban legend of Candyman. After investigating the killer’s last known whereabouts, strange killings begin to occur.” There is no word yet if Tony Todd, the man who brought the iconic character Candyman to life in the original franchise, will reprise his role. I have a feeling that if he doesn’t fans won’t be happy. You can’t just replace an icon. Peele’s revamped version of Candyman is set to open in theaters on June 12, 2020. Here’s a look back at the original film’s trailer.
