Blu-ray Review: Mean Man: The Story of Chris Holmes (2021)

Chris Holmes, the legendary guitarist on the first four studio releases from 1980’s shock-rockers W.A.S.P. (whom I bet more than one of you horror hounds out there were major fans of), and he of the vodka-drenched pool-set interview in Penelope Spheeris’ documentary The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years gets the solo spotlight in the latest Blu-ray release from Cleopatra (along with MVD Entertainment); Mean Man: The Story of Chris Holmes! Immediately we learn Chris is alive and well (a miracle in and of itself), married, living in Southern France, and touring with his latest band Mean Man (for which he performs vocal and guitar duty). As we follow the band on tour we get to see a great slice of “life on the road”… but of course stories are soon told of Holmes’ tumultuous days in W.A.S.P., and his near constant battles with frontman Blackie Lawless (who both screwed him over constantly, and got him on

CD Review: Killection Lordi (2020)

Lordi; those monsters of metal have entertained us hard rockin’ horror hounds for years… I mean these mother fuckers were created for us, by one of our own… and they are glorious ghouls one and all (and come the fuck on; how can you not adore a rippin’ guitar solo performed by a mummy)! Now, I know there are some of you out there who may not know just who, or more appropriately what, the fuck I am talking about, so here’s a lil’ visual aid… Friggin’ wild, right? Well let me tell ya, they play music as flat out awesome as they look… but after a myriad of albums containing creepy collections of cacophonous creations, Lordi may have topped themselves with their latest offering; Killection an alternate reality greatest hits from many decades the band never actually existed in… The key here cats n’ creeps is variety! Over the length of 15 terror tracks we get a heady mix

Ghost Hints New Frontman, Announces Tour

The metal band Ghost (sometimes known as Ghost BC) is known for their theatrical performance on and off the stage thanks to the mysterious priest-like lead singer Papa Emeritus. The band’s lore adds to the mystery of the characters in the band who are supposed to be part of a satanic order bringing the teachings of the devil to listeners. Fans of Ghost know this is a well-rehearsed act and that the band members are just characters as one of the band members that are known as Nameless Ghouls, stated in an interview once that when it comes to faith every member of the band has their own beliefs. Over the years Papa has been changed over three times, the only change in the name is that a number is put in the name; recently the band had Papa Emeritus III. Along with the change of Papa was a change in personality, Papa Emeritus III was considered to be the

Metal And Mayhem – Deathgasm 2: Goremegeddon Enters Early Production

Back in December we learned that a sequel was in the works for Deathgasm, one of 2015’s best and most creative horror films. We reported then that writer-director Jason Lei Howden posted a photo on Instagram of the finished script, stating that gorehounds will be in for a big treat. “There is literally more gore in the first ten minutes than the entire first #deathgasm.” Howden continued “If you kinda liked the first, this will make your head implode. If you thought the first Deathgasm was puerile, juvenille and dumb Goremageddon will melt your face off and force you to barricade yourself inside, safe with some Terrance Malik of Coldplay.” Now, Deathgasm: Goremegeddon has moved into the early stages of production. We can expect Goremegeddon to rock theaters sometime in 2017. For those of you who haven’t seen this heavy metal, head-splitting gore fest, I recommend that you do so immediately. The film follows a band who have unwittingly unleashed
