(Watch) Two Horror Icons Go Head To Head In Fan Film ‘Michael VS Jason: Evil Emerges’

While the battle over Friday the 13th between the film’s writer Victor Miller and the director Sean Cunningham, fans of the franchise won’t be getting a sequel for a while. Luckily, Jason Vorhees is still alive and well in the world of fan films. Earlier this month the YouTube channel Radical Talent released a movie horror fans have been itching to see, Michael vs Jason: Evil Emerges. The 30-minute long film is a family affair with Luke Pedder writing and directing, John Pedder playing Michael Myers, and Joshua Pedder co-starring as Jason Vorhees. To date, the fan film has racked nearly 8 million views. That is huge! Michael vs Jason: Evil Emerges also stars Christopher Goldup, Jaxon Green, and Michael Holmes. Enjoy!

A New Series And Much More In Development For Leatherface!

Last October Lionsgate unleashed Leatherface, a prequel to Tobe Hooper’s classic The Chainsaw Massacre. Now, news has come that a new series based on the original and more films for the franchise are now in the works over at Legendary Pictures. While that news is very exciting on its own, Bloody-Disgusting is speculating that a new shared universe may happen. How? Legendary is close to signing a new distribution deal with Warner Bros., who happens to be the parent company of New Line Cinema, who is over the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. While the rights to Friday the 13th are currently involved in a lawsuit, if nothing comes of it the rights will return to, you guessed it, New Line in 2019. That could possibly put Leatherface, Freddy, and Jason in the same vicinity. A show, more films, and a shared universe? Yes, please. Would you like to see more of Leatherface? New “Friday the 13th: The Game” Update Makes Jason Even Deadlier

There were a lot of complaints that Jason Vorhee’s was too powerful when Friday the 13th: The Game first came out. He could teleport, throw knives, and chase down teenagers at inhuman speeds. But as people got better at the game, Jason gradually lost his edge. A team of eight good counselors can absolutely dominate Jason, whooping his ass in ways the big momma’s boy would never be beat in the movies. The good people at Gun Media have felt us gamers pains though, addressing the problem in a post on Reddit. “We’ve seen your reports; our Jason characters aren’t scary. We’ve seen the videos of counselors running circles around Jason and smacking him upside the head, repeatedly, while he quietly resigns himself to his fate. Director Nick Hunt Talks ‘Safe Place’ & ‘The Dark Heart Of Jason Voorhees’

Filmmaker Nick Hunt has several projects on his plate, including his film Safe Place, his anthology film Wander Tales, and his documentary ‘The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees: The Making Of the Final Friday‘. ‘Friday The 13th’ Game Gets Expanded

So, by now hopefully everyone has heard of the ‘Friday The 13th’ game for PS4 and Xbox One. And…you have probably heard that, despite being a really cool idea for a game, it has more bugs than ‘Arachnophobia’. Fortunately, the developers are working hard to fix all of the issues while expanding the game. Just announced is a Part 4 map and a new version of Jason (with brand new kills…that’s really why you play the game anyway, isn’t it? There’s no shame in that.) Also, added to this map (and rumoured to be added to already existing maps) is a rain element that makes Chrystal Lake even more haunting. Hopefully they get this game figured out and keep adding new elements to it.

Expect more from your entertainment. Don’t be spoon fed. Whether film, literature, music, even video gaming…refuse to be dumbed down. As I move over the half way point in post production for “Death House” I’ve had time to reflect on the film and wonder how it will be received. The latest news on yet another “Friday the 13th” installment is it will be an origins story. I guess my question is…was there ever that much there in the first place to warrant an origin backstory? Doesn’t it defeat the point of making a simple slasher film to entertain, scare and titillate? Do we really need an origins story whether on Pamela Vorhees or Jason or how Camp Crystal Lake was founded? The Millennial Generation and after are said to be too literal. They need everything spelled out for them. They have all the information they need on their phones. Why think? Why extrapolate? Hell, why even dream? School is taught

No one’s gonna see this crap!” — Actress Betsy Palmer aka Pamela Vorhees The late, esteemed critic, Roger Ebert, coined the phrase “Dead Teenager Movie” and I have stated several times that Jaws 2 arguably gets technical credit as the first one. While teenagers in peril was a long standing theme and used over and over again, it’s the sequel to Spielberg’s game changing shark movie that lined them up one after another for the monster to pick off. Jaws 2 gave the designer sheen to killing off teens. It wasn’t a grainy “B Movie” that played part of a double bill at the drive in. This was wide screen Panavision and a 50 million budget. Jason’s Back in Friday the 13th The Game

And no. It’s not a remaster of the original 1989 side scroller for the NES. It’s an all new multiplayer survival horror where it pits 7 players against 1. That’s right, you have an opportunity to play as the machete wielding Jason against 7 other players who are just trying to have a good time. The game is being developed by Gun Media and has been launched on Kickstarter. It’s looking for $700,000 in funding – already reaching half that with just 28 days left to go. If achieved, this game will freaking rock. Seriously. Not only will you get to play as Jason, but it will all happen within a rich 80’s themed environment. To top it off, they have brought in Kane Hodder in to do mo-cap for Jason, Tom Savini to help enrich the world of Crystal Lake, and Harry Manfredini to score the game – which makes sense considering he’s done the score for the original

An Open Letter to New Line “Cynema”: Take A Stab At Something Different

To: New Line Cinema From: B Harrison Smith Re: Friday the 13th: Tommy Jarvis vs. Jason Vorhees Make Tommy vs. Jason. You’re sitting a goldmine. I am told the rights to Friday the 13th are a mess. Paramount owns some, you own some. Some are parceled out to TV while the films retain others and the characters. I’ve heard one tale that both studios share custody over the franchise like a divorced couple. I have no idea if this is true. What I do know is that the ownership of rights has become so convoluted that no one seems to have a definitive answer. The legal octopus is strangling you from making another killing and I’m willing to bet it could be straightened out. At the risk of shooting myself in the foot and giving away my thoughts for someone to steal, here is a proposal to get Jason out of development hell. I attended two meetings in Los Angeles
