Movie Review : WolfCop (2015)

Lou Garou (Leo Fafard) is a lazy alcoholic and a poor excuse for a cop, that is until he is transformed into an ass kicking werewolf, with a taste for justice. One night while out on a call to break up a party out in the woods, Lou is hit from behind. He wakes in the morning with flashes of the night before , a murdered politician and a strange ceremony. ‘WolfCop’ is cleaning up the city’s dirt-bags and leaving a trail of bodies behind. After being seduced by a beautiful bartender (Sarah Lind), he finds himself in serious trouble, but it’s hard to keep a good wolf down. Amy Matysio (‘Just Friends’) plays the role of uptight Officer Tina. Lou’s friend Willie, who’s a little “off”, is played by Jonathan Cherry. Cherry had rolls in both ‘Final Destination 2’ and 2003’s ‘House of the Dead’. Lowell Dean wrote and directed this horror-comedy masterpiece. ‘WolfCop’ was gory, cheesy, over the

My Review of Lust of The Dead (Yeah, it’s exactly what you think it is)

Hello fellow zombie apocalypse survivor wannabes, this is my first time providing content for the ZADF. I was recently contacted by a friend and asked if I would like to do the occasional review of foreign horror films for this site. Since the only thing I like better than sharing my opinion, is sharing my opinion over the internet (significantly less face-punching this way). I readily agreed. Only one problem. What would I review? You see, for my first outing I wasn’t assigned a specific film. It was left up to me to choose one. Being that the site is called Zombie Apocalypse Defense Force, I decided that my first review should definitely be a zombie movie. So, I started browsing Netflix for a selection. Oddly enough, Netflix had a recommendation all lined up for me. Due to my past viewing preferences, it seemed to think I would enjoy a Japanese “horror” film called Lust of The Dead. Apparently, if

Movie Review : Found (2014)

Marty’s just a regular kid. He’s into horror movies, he’s writing a graphic novel with his best friend and his favorite hang out is an abandoned haunted house. Oh, and his big brother, Steve (Ethan Philbeck) is a gas mask wearing serial killer, who keeps heads in a bowling bag in his closet. Their parents, played by Phyllis Munro and Louie Lawless, are clueless as to what’s going on in their own house. When Marty (Gavin Brown) gets beaten up at school, Steve decides to take care of the bully his way. Marty’s world is about to change forever. Along with Todd Rigney, the author of the 2004 novel by the same name, Scott Schirmer co-wrote the script and directed ‘Found’. Let me get this out of the way, I do NOT condone the racist subject matter in ‘Found’ in any way. That being said, the movie has some good aspects. The story between the two brothers was touching, in

Movie Review : Final Prayer (2014)

A team, sent by the Vatican, arrives in a small town to authenticate, or dispel, the supernatural activity claims of a church. As the three men begin their investigation into the events things quickly go from bad to worse. What the team discovers is bigger than they could ever have imagined. ‘Final Prayer’ stars Gordon Kennedy (Red Faction:Origins) as Deacon, the veteran investigator. Aiden McArdle (Me and Orson Welles) plays Mark, the new tech guy. Father Gray, the priest in charge, is played by Robin Hill (Kill List). ‘Final Prayer’ was written and directed Elliot Goldner. ‘Final Prayer’ accomplished what most movies can’t, spooking me. The movie was well executed, the effects were simple yet effective and the twist at the end is something we haven’t seen before. ‘Final Prayer’ was surprising, which is rare these days. I actually caught my self hiding my face behind my dog a time or two. I haven’t experienced that feeling in a long

Movie Review : Dracula Untold (2014)

In ‘Dracula Untold’ we see a new side of the Dracula legend that ties in the history of the real Vlad “The Impaler”. The movie delves into the beginning of Dracula’s story, when he was a man trying to protect his family and people against the Turks that he knows will invade. He refuses to meet their demands of one thousand boys as tribute for their army, when at the last moment of the meeting Mehmed also demands Vlad’s son to take to raise. Vlad has lived a peaceful life for ten years but the legendary fighter will never allow the Turks to take the boys or his son. Vlad must make a choice between losing it all or becoming a monster. Movie Review : ‘Ouija’

We have all heard of the Ouija board, most of us have toyed with one. In the backs of our minds there was always the question, What if it isn’t just a game? ‘Ouija’ explores the possibility that the board really can communicate with the other side and what can go wrong. Debbie, played by Shelly Hennig (Teen Wolf), broke the first rule of using a Ouija board, never play alone. She opened a door and something came through. When Debbie suddenly commits suicide, her friends struggle to understand why. Debbie’s best friend Laine (Olivia Cooke) stumbles across an old Ouija board in Debbie’s room and is reminded of how they would play with a board as kids. Laine gathers four of her and Debbie’s friends together to try to reach out to Debbie in the spirit world. The friends gather around a dark table in Debbie’s empty house and they the say the words to open the lines of

Movie Review: Annabelle (2014)

A young couple wakes to the screams of their neighbors in the middle of the night. When the husband rushes to their aid he finds the older couple savagely murdered. Mia runs into her home to call the police. Suddenly she is attacked by the neighbor’s estranged daughter and her boyfriend, both who are involved with a cult. The police arrive just in time to save the couples’ lives. Life for the young couple just keeps getting worse. Mia is plagued by supernatural events, which are all tied to a very creepy doll and mostly taking place while her husband is away working long hours. The entity will not give in until it gets what it wants, a soul. This supernatural thriller has a great cast. Annabelle Wallis (X-Men First Class) plays Mia, the mother of the child who seems to be the target of a dark entity. The father of the child is played by ‘The Wolf Of Wall

Movie Review: The Taking Of Deborah Logan (2014)

A group of documentary filmmakers visit the home of Deborah Logan and her daughter to make a film about the effects of Alzheimer’s. Deborah is experiencing the later affects of the disease, or so they thought. Soon the filmmakers begin to notice odd things captured on the video tapes. It is not long before it is clear to them that something more sinister is at work. Jill Larson plays the role of Deborah Logan and she does an incredible job. Larson was a regular on ‘All My Children’ and also starred in the movie ‘Shutter Island’ (2010). The role of Sarah, Deborah’s dedicated daughter, was played by Anne Ramsey (‘Dexter’). The documentary filmmakers were played by Michelle Ang (‘Outrageous Fortune’) , Jeremy DeCarlos (‘Ben 10’) and Brett Gentile (‘We’re The Millers’). The Taking Of Deborah Logan was written by Gavin Heffernan and Adam Robitel. Writer/director Adam Robitel (X-Men) really did a great job on this movie. This movie hits from
