Movie Review: ‘Sator’ (2021)

Jordan Graham’s new supernatural horror Sator is heading towards its release. I got a chance to watch it early and I thought I’d share my thoughts with you. In Sator, Graham’s family, including his grandmother, have claimed to have long had contact with a mysterious presence by the name of Sator. After the sudden loss of his mother, Adam has become a recluse and retreats deep into the forest to his family’s cabin. When he’s not hunting, he sits in the dark cabin along with his trusty dog and listens to the tapes of his grandmother talking to Sator while consumed by the trances she frequently falls into. Gabriel Nicholson stars as Adam, who is best described as the silent type, hell, he barely says anything at all. I’m sure his lack of lines was meant to make him come across as sort of stoic, but it only makes him feel distant and cold. The other main character is Adam’s

Movie Review: ‘Freaky’ Is One Hell Of A Fun Flick!

When a movie gets a huge advertising campaign or a ton of attention on social media, I often find myself let down after I actually get to watch it. But that’s not the case with writer-director Christopher Landon’s (Happy Death Day, the Paranormal Activity franchise) Freaky. In the movie, high schooler Millie Kessler (Kathryn Newton) is just trying to survive the cruel halls of Blissfield High and the evil of the popular crowd. But when she becomes the newest target of “The Butcher” (Vince Vaughn), the infamous serial killer who stalks her town, her lack of popularity becomes the least of her worries. Part horror, part comedy, Freaky gets so much right. Newton plays the perfect balance of kind and quirky and is truly relatable. You really feel for her, but when her soul gets swapped with the killers, you can clearly see the change even in subtle ways, like her wardrobe and the looks she gives. Vince Vaughn kills

Chloé Zhao Sinks Her Fangs Into Universal’s New Dracula Movie

Nomadland director Chloé Zhao is giving Universal’s classic blood-sucking monster Dracula new life, a new movie that will be a futuristic sci-fi western, Variety reports. Zhao will be writing, directing, and producing it. I’ve always been fascinated by vampires and the concept of the Other they embody,” Zhao said in a release. “I’m very excited to work with Donna [Langley], Peter [Cramer] and the team at Universal to reimagine such a beloved character.” Zhao states. A heist goes horribly wrong in the action-packed crime thriller Pixie, directed by Barnaby Thompson and starring Olivia Cooke and Alec Baldwin. A First Look At The Noir Psychological Thriller ‘Find Her’

Today, we’ve got the first look at writer-director Nick McCallum‘s noir psychological thriller Find Her which has been filming in both Basile, Louisianna and Destin, Florida. In the film, Isaiah Slade, a mysterious ex-cop with an addiction to uppers, arrives in a small town searching for answers to a murdered ranch owner and his still-missing daughter. Slowly it becomes clear that he has his own personal agenda to finding the truth. The cast includes Richard Gunn (Clemency), Stelio Savante (Infidel), Rebecca Lines (The Violent Heart), Anais Lilit (“The Walking Dead: Red Machete”), Randal Gonzalez (Greenland), John Daniel Gates, Mary Drew Ahrens, John James (Axcellerator), and G. Marvel’s ‘Blade’ Has Found Its Writer!

Stacey Osei-Kuffour‘s name should sound familiar, she’s the writer of HBO’s “Watchmen” series and she has just signed on to pen the script for Marvel’s new Blade movie and will hold the title of the first black female scribe to write a Marvel movie, THR reports. The film was first announced at 2019’s Comic-Con and been searching for a writer since. Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali (Green Book) is set to star as the “daywalker” Blade, who was originally played by Wesley Snipes. The character made its first appearance in 1973’s comic Tomb of Dracula No. 10 and has since become a cult favorite. Blade was born part vampire after his pregnant mother bitten by a vampire while he was still in the womb. Besides writing for “Watchmen,” Oslei-Kuffour earned Emmy nominations for her work on Hulu’s comedy series “Pen15.” She also served as part of the writing team for Amazon’s hit Nazi-hunting series “Hunters” that stars Al Pacino.
