Game Review: ‘Vaporum’ Delivers What It Promises

Fatboy Games and Merge Games were kind enough to give me the opportunity to try their new dungeon crawler game, Vaporum. This first-person game takes the elements of old school dungeon crawling games but revamped them with a Steampunk twist. You play as a man who woke up in front of a tall metal structure in the middle of the ocean. With no memories of who he is he feels that the building is familiar. Going inside you quickly realize there’s something about this place that’s wrong. The movement of the game harks back to how old dungeon crawlers worked, to moves a square at a time as if you’re on a game board. It took some getting used to but I found no problem with it but if you’re someone that might not like it, don’t worry, there’s an option to make the movements smoother. Combat is pretty standard when it comes to RPG’s, you use your weapon and

‘Terminator’ Meets ‘Red Dawn’: Game Review Of ‘Generation Zero’

Avalanche Studios and THQ Nordic were kind enough to allow me a chance to play their post-apocalyptic robotic nightmare set in 1980s Sweden, Generation Zero. Crank up your favorite 80s jam, fix your mullet, and acid wash those jeans along with that denim jacket! First, I should say I’m probably not playing the game the way it was meant to be played…solo. You can play online with up to three other players but it’s a breath of fresh air that you have that option. Before you get started you have to create your character with their “starting off” look as you will find clothing and accessories throughout the game (some of which have abilities like fire resistance), your options for starting outfit are rebel, punk, greaser, hip-hop, nerd, popular, and military. I went military because why not. It’s an open world in this game and boy is it big, there are so many places to go, so much loot to

‘Moons Of Madness’ Gets New Release Date

Previously, I’ve talked about a new first-person horror game titled Moons of Madness, a space exploration game with a Lovecraft twist. A lot has changed since I last shared about the game, mainly the release date changed, but for the better. Rocket Pocket Games has teamed up with Funcom and have set the game’s release around the Halloween season this year! Along with a new release date comes new information about the game. As previously mentioned you play as Shane Newhart, a technician working at a secret research base stationed on Mars. Your job is just tech work and making sure the lights don’t go out and having low-security clearance prevents you from knowing the real reason for the station’s presence on Mars. Soon Shane will begin to see and hear things that aren’t there…or are they? He’ll discover that he’s alone at the station…or is he? Cosmic horrors the likes of which Lovecraft wrote about will make its presence

Killer Robots Are Coming In ‘Generation Zero’

Avalanche Studios and THQ Nordic will be taking us to Sweden in the 1980s in Generation Zero, a first-person shooter that pits you against killer robots. Squad up with three friends or go on by yourself, the game features an open world with a daylight cycle and unpredictable weather. On the fly you will have to pick your battles and how to or not to fight them. The sandbox combat mechanic allows you to fight how you want to as you explore the world and discover the truth behind this mysterious rise of machines. Enemies big and small are constantly stalking around the landscape with the sole purpose to kill humans on sight. What makes these AI enemies in this game interesting is that any damage you cause one of them is permanent, meaning if you damaged one robot and ran away; you will see that particular character model again with the damage even if it’s been days since you

Psychological-Horror Game ‘Someday You’ll Return’ Coming Fall 2019

What could be described as a lovechild between Outlast 2, Firewatch, Resident Evil 7, and Vanishing of Ethan Carter; comes a whole new psychological-horror adventure game, Someday You’ll Return. The game comes from the 2-man indie developer team out of Brno, CBE Software. This first-person experience follows Daniel as he searches the Moravian forests for his runaway daughter Stela. It’s a mystery as to why Stela chose these woods that Daniel swore he would never return to, which adds to the mystery of WHY does he not want to go back there. Daniel will encounter locals and supernatural forces that will help fill in the blanks of his past and answer why Stela is always running away from home. The game is horror but has a strong narrative-driven exploration element as the open world (a forest) is full of trails that can be explored using Daniel’s tracking skills and rock-climbing ability. There’s also a crafting mechanic where you can create

New Story Trailer For ‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’ And Pre-Order

Keeping the hype going, Focus Home Interactive and Asobo Studios have announced that their upcoming game, A Plague Tale: Innocence is available for Pre-order now. Along with the announcement comes a new story trailer showing the heartache that’s to come in the game’s story. The trailer shows how tranquil life was for the game’s heroes, the De Rune siblings Amicia and Hugo, before the hell that is the black plague came knocking on their doorstep. This time the trailer has a distinct focus on the Inquisitors than the plague rats. A Plague Tale: Innocence will be coming out May 14th for all gaming platforms. The game combines action, adventure, and stealth as well as using your environment to your advantage as you traverse the plague-ridden landscape in order to escape the outbreak, and solve the mystery of Hugo’s puzzling illness and why the Inquisitors want him.

Who Or What’s Killing ‘Fortnite’?

Back in July of 2017, Epic Games released a multiplayer game that seemed unique at the time, Fortnite. The third-person shooter has players teaming up with friends as they fight off waves of zombies and gather supplies to build up fortifications in order to protect their objective. The game soon changed into what we now know as today as Fortnite: Battle Royal. In this version, 100 players enter a play area with nothing; they gather supplies, build cover, outrun a health-draining storm, all the while trying to be the last one alive. In a fortnight (pun intended) the game’s popularity blew up especially with kids (under the age of 18). The game’s bright colors, animations, lack of violence (no blood or gore), humor, and the fact alone that it’s FREE, attracted many players around the world. So why is its popularity declining? The game became really popular when Youtubers and (Twitch) streamers started playing it. This is possibly where the

‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’ Rats Versus The Real Plague Rats

Focus Home Interactive has released their third and final episode of their web series showing behind the scenes of the making of their upcoming game, A Plague Tale: Innocence. The final episode titled “Children of the Plague” focuses more on the game’s main antagonists, the hoard of plague-infested rats. The developers at Asobo Studio used their own software to create the hoard of vermin where at times there will be about 5000 rats on the screen, along with being programmed with a “hive mind”, each virtual rat will have its own artificial intelligence and behavior. Spectacularly creepy! Rats for generations have been blamed for the Second Pandemic (Black Death) and have been depicted for a long time as being ravenous hoards attacking at will. Though the idea and imagery of a moving mountain of sleek fur, wormy tails, and deafening squeaks gnawing away at you instill fear and disgust, our own fears give these little dudes a little too much

Psychological Thriller Game, ‘Those Who Remain’, Coming Soon

Camel 101 knows that a majority of people are afraid of the dark and will be exploiting the hell out of that in their upcoming game Those Who Remain. This first-person psychological thriller will put players in the role of Edward Turner, on the outside Edward is your average Joe but beneath his normal exterior is a troubled past which comes forth after arriving in the town of Dormont. The town of Dormont is enshrouded in darkness, caused by a curse, and all the surviving townsfolk are trapped. The darkness is the enemy as it houses monsters that kill those who wandered the blackness for too long. Edward’s only salvation, stay in the light. Players must explore through the dark town and solve puzzles that will unlock more of Edward’s past, as well as means of staying alive but not everything is as it seems. You’ll have to travel between two worlds, the real and the mirrored, and traverse through

A Remake Done Right: Video Game Review Of ‘Resident Evil 2’

I remember playing Resident Evil 2 on the N64 a lot; in fact, it was the first “Resident Evil” game I’ve ever played that got me hooked onto the series. Fast forward to now, you could only imagine the honor I felt when CAPCOM gave me the opportunity to play the remake of this classic and what I can say is this: If you liked the original, then you’ll love this! Don’t worry this is spoiler free! First thing I noticed right away playing this game, its dark, not figuratively, literally and that makes it amazing as it adds to the tension. Speaking of tension, usually, a soundtrack helps break it but the lack of one playing as you explore your surroundings makes it terrifying! I suggest playing this game with headphones as all the stops were pulled to creep you out with 3D surround sound, every creak of wood, the structural groan from wind, and distant sounds of flesh-crazed
