Blu-ray Review: Don’t Grow Up (2015)

In a sparsely populated youth center on a remote island, a group of scruffy young tear-aways get their delinquent on when they discover the facilities supervisor has disappeared. thing remarkably don’t go full Lord of the Flies, mostly because our young antagonists soon learn that every adult in the surrounding area has turned into a rabid zombie like being overnight. Now our heroes must survive the (minor) onslaught and pray they don’t age into monsterhood too soon! Straight up, if you go into Don’t Grow Up expecting a full on zombie holocaust you are going to be severely disappointed. Rather, this flick is a rather somber coming of age drama, acted by an admittedly talented troupe of young thespians. That’s not to say their aren’t a few well done effects sequences here and there, they are just more punctuation on the troubles these kids already have in their lives. Adding to the plus column, the film is well shot with

Movie Review: The Aftermath is a Dark Yet Infinitely Fun Sci-Fi Romp!

The crew of the spacecraft Nautilus returns to Earth after a prolonged mission to find the planet isn’t exactly as they remembered it due to the ravages of a nuclear war. Now in the eponymous Aftermath, evil gangs led by the ruthless Cutter (played with scenery chewing gusto by genre legend Sid Haig) are rounding up women and murdering (in spectacularly gory fashion) any man that crosses their path…and wouldn’t ya know it, our heroes are men (and have the patchy beards to prove it). That would be bad enough for our erstwhile astronauts, but they also have to contend with roving bands of mutants and violent radioactive storms. Can our heroes, along with a handful of survivors, endure the wasteland and end Cutter’s reign? Boasting out-of-left-field gore effects, hammy postulating on man’s place in the universe, a future devoid of bras, hilariously unnecessary narration, pew pew lasers, and great appearances by beloved members in good standing of the horror

Movie Review: Threads is the Most Disturbing Film I Have Ever Seen…

I’m gonna kick this review of Threads off by telling you up front that this film isn’t a fright flick per se; but it is definitely one of the most horrifying films you will ever lay your putrid peepers on…and I just know that when you hear “made for TV in the 1980’s” you’ll immediately roll your eyes and say “How hardcore could this film be?”. Just trust me, you are in for a mega bumpy time in front of the ol’ tube tonight… The long and short of Threads goes as follows: the residents of working-class Sheffield, England have a major crisis on their hands, namely someone went right ahead and dropped a nuke in their backyard. What follows is a gritty representation of what would happen if such an event took place including such fun lovin’ hits as; radiation sickness, the complete unraveling of civilization as the years pass, nuclear winter, puke, spontaneous urination, burning corpses…and so very

‘Rogue Warrior: Robot Fighter’ Is An Absolute Win

Finally, finally, finally I was able to watch the Neil Johnson written and directed film ‘Rogue Warrior: Robot Fighter’. I have been anticipating seeing the movie for a long time, and (if you follow my twitter) have obviously been eager to write this review. I just want to start off by saying that I really enjoyed this movie. The movie has been presented as a whole bunch of things… a little ‘Mad Max’, a little bit ‘Terminator’, a little bit ‘Star Wars’, science fiction, drama, action…and a slew of other things. Well, it delivers on them all. From intergalactic battles in space, to making me laugh, to heart wrenching scenes. We are truly taken on this journey with the protagonist Sienna through pinnacle points in her life when she has to deal with not only her own journey to figure out who she is, but also to destroy the artificial intelligence that is killing humans. I am not going to
