Creepshow, or as I like to call it; “The best mother fuckin’ horror anthology ever made…period.” You’ve seen it, I’ve sure as shit have seen it…and I know you probably love it as much as your’s cruelly! Blu-ray Review: Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)

You know how you release one of the most successful and iconic horror films of all time, sit around four years and snort a mountain of blow and say “Shit, we really should make a sequel to this thing…but I’ve never been a fan of screenplays or logic…aaaand action!”? Yeah, me either, but I’d bet demons to doughnuts that is pretty damn close to how Exorcist II: The Heretic came to be. We pick up the narrative with a now teen-age Regan (Linda Blair) seeing a new-age shrink on the regular, and it is at one such appointment that she says she has almost zero recollection of the events of the first film (which also mirrors the filmmakers as well). Meanwhile priest Philip Lamont (Richard Burton) is assigned to investigate the death of Father Merrin (Max Von Sydow) after the events of Regan’s exorcism. Soon their path’s cross and Lamont sits in on Regan’s sesh with her shrink’s happy helmet

Blu-ray Review: Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988)

A military convoy passes through a small town haulin’ barrels containing corpses pickled in that heady cocktail patented by the Darrow Chemical Company known as 2-4-5 Trioxin. Of course one of the creepy containers bounces it’s ass right out of the transport and is soon discovered by two juvenile delinquents and their unwilling new recruit Jesse (Michael Kenworthy) right next door to the town graveyard. And as is always the way, those pint-sized heathens just have to fuck with the barrel (after locking Jesse in a mausoleum) which results in both the bad kids getting Trioxin down their pie-holes (and into the air surrounding the cemetery), and the dead returning to horrifying and hungry life! This makes life difficult for some grave robbers (James Karen and Thom Mathews returning from the first installment albeit as different characters) who immediately become accosted by those zany (and I do mean zany…more on that below) zombies. Blu-ray Review: In The Mouth of Madness (1995)

Insurance investigator John Trent (Sam Neill) has found himself locked away in an insane asylum as the world turns to shit outside it’s walls. How in the hell did he end up here? Well, for starters he never should have taken on the case of investigating the disappearance of celebrated horror novelist and H.P. Lovecraft surrogate Sutter Cane (Jurgen Prochnow); a huge cash cow for Arcane publishing. Said investigation takes our no-nonsense hero, an Arcane employee Linda Styles (Julie Carmen), to the small New England town of Hobbs End…a central location in Cane’s fiction. Once there they discover that not only are the characters in Cane’s stories real, but Cane himself holds the town in a grip of eldritch evil, as what he writes comes to demonic life! ‘Ghost Stories’ Will Haunt Blu-ray And DVD This September

This September the horror anthology Ghost Stories will haunt Blu-ray and DVD. This frightening flick hails from directors Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman and stars Martin Freeman ( Sherlock, Black Panther). Professor Goodman (Andy Nyman, Black Death) has devoted his life to exposing phony psychics and fraudulent supernatural claims. His skepticism is tested, however, when he receives a case file on three chilling and inexplicable incidents: a night watchman (Paul Whitehouse, Corpse Bride) haunted by disturbing visions as he patrols an abandoned asylum; an edgy young man (Alex Lawther, Freak Show) involved in a hellish car accident deep in the woods; and a wealthy former banker (Martin Freeman) visited by the spirit of his unborn child. Blu-ray Review: Desolation (2017)

Abby (Jaimi Paige) and Sam (Toby Nichols), her teenaged Son, head out to the remote wilderness to scatter the remains of her husband with her best friend Jen (Alyshia Ochse) taggin’ along. Everything is pines n’ posies for our trio until a beardo-weirdo dubbed ‘The Hiker’ makes the scene and begins the ol’ stalk n’ slay business we laid down our shekels for after our heroes leave some wine bottles behind causing him to go rabid Woodsy. Desolation has some good things going for it. For starters, the tension remains razor sharp throughout much of the run time once The Hiker shows up…which of course is a major plus for a fright flick. ‘The Poughkeepsie Tapes’ Finally Seeing Release After 10 Years Of Controversy

After nearly a decade, the brutal, previously banned film The Poughkeepsie Tapes will finally see release. Pulled from release in 2008, the film earned a cult following. The gore-filled documentary-style film was directed by John Erick Dowdle who later went on to make Quarantine. The Poughkeepsie Tapes follows a group of police as they raid a home in New York, only to discover VHS tapes filled with snuff films made by an unknown serial killer. Each video features tortured victims, murder, and the disposal of victim’s mutilated corpses. The white masked killer dressed as a plague doctor appears in over 800 tapes that law enforcement must investigate. The film, loosely based on a real serial killer from Poughkeepsie along with other notorious killers. The brutal film has been pulled from release not once, but twice due to its content. Russian Superhero Film ‘Guardians’ Is Getting A US Release

Back last summer we shared the trailer, that can only be described as insane, for the Russian superhero film Guardians. Directed by Sarik Andreasyan, the action-filled film was released in its home country back in February. Now, it’s finally coming to the US via Shout Factory. The film, set during the Cold War, an organization called “Patriot” has created a superhero squad, which includes members of multiple soviet republics. For years, the heroes had to hide their identities, but in hard times they must show themselves again. Valeriya Shkirando, Anton Pampushnyy, Alina Lanina, Sanzhar Madiyev and Sebastien Sisak co-star. The film was executive produced by Lenny Levi, Maksim Oleynikov and Daniel Shapovalov. Get your copy of Guardians on Blu-ray and DVD on September 5, 2017.
