Short Film Review: Soundbite (2018)

A woman (Taylor Murphy-Sinclair) sits a computer and enters a website comprised of a single image of a skull. Seems mundane enough, until the creepy commands start issuing forth… Running a brisk four minutes and change; Soundbite is a nice lil’ bite sized nugget of video violence with a sprinkling of techo terror (or is it supernatural shenanigans to blame? You boils n’ ghouls will have to decide for yourselves when you slap your eerie eyeballs on he flick after these wicked words…). Co-writer (along with Brantley J. Brown)/Director Michael Coulombe delivers a simple, basically one sentence concept with a stylish flair that makes the whole affair satisfying even without anything in the way of character development, dialog (minus one key phrase), or even explanation as to what is going on. Another interesting visual choice is a reliance on warm earth tones, rather than the orange and blue/hot pink electric blue that many of today’s fright flicks seem to be

James McAvoy Goes Full Beast Mode In New ‘Glass’ TV Spot

James McAvoy goes in full on beast mode in the TV spot for M. Night Shyamalan‘s Unbreakable/Split sequel Glass. McAvoy‘s character Kevin, who has more than two dozen personalities including “The Beast” who kidnapped Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy) in Split, appears to be the instrument that Mr. Glass will use to cause chaos. Along with McAvoy, the film brings together David (Bruce Willis), Elijah aka Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) from the first film of the trilogy, Unbreakable. ”American Horror Story” actress Sarah Paulson stars as Dr. Ellie Staple who is exploring the three men’s so-called superhero delusions. Glass opens in US and UK theaters on January 18, 2019.

Supernatural Thriller ‘The Little Stranger’ Arrives In The US This Month

Thanksgiving is approaching and today we have something to be thankful for, director Lenny Abrahamson‘s The Little Stranger is set to arrive in the US later this month. Ruth Wilson (The Affair), Domhnall Gleeson (American Made), Will Poulter (Maze Runner: Death Cure), Charlotte Rampling (Red Sparrow), Josh Dylan (Mamma Mia!), and Anna Madeley (The Crown) star in The Little Stranger that may be one of the best genre films of the year. The supernatural thriller tells the story of Dr. Faraday, the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants – mother, son, and daughter – are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life.

Fright-Rags Digs Up Pet Sematary, Night Of The Living Dead, and Die Hard Collections

Fright-Rags has explored sour ground to unearth new merchandise from Pet Sematary, Night of the Living Dead, and Die Hard. Dead is better with Fright-Rags‘ Pet Sematary collection. From little Gage and Church the cat to Victor Pascow and Zelda, all of the nightmarish imagery from the 1989 Stephen King adaptation is represented on four new T-shirts. Fright-Rags continues its Night of the Living Dead 50th anniversary celebration with a new shirt, two enamel pins, and a pair of socks from George A. Romero’s seminal classic. Lakeshore Entertainment Releasing Soundtrack Of Blumhouse’s Tech-Driven Horror ‘CAM’

The only thing better than a great film is a great film with an incredible soundtrack. News has come that Lakeshore Entertainment is set to release the soundtrack for Blumhouse’s technology-driven horror film CAM as it premieres on Netflix. Directed by Daniel Goldhaber, the Oscar-winning producer of Get Out, comes the film set in the world of webcam porn. It follows Alice (Madeline Brewer), an ambitious camgirl, who wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself. As this copy begins to push the boundaries of Alice’s internet identity, the control that Alice has over her life, and the men in it, vanishes. While she struggles to regain what she’s lost, she slowly finds herself drawn back to her show and to the mysterious person who has taken her place. Slappy’s Back Again In The AR Game ‘Slappy’s Haunted Christmas’

Krikey has launched its second Augmented Reality mobile game of their three-part “Goosebumps 2” Slappy series; the first one was released in October. This time Slappy the ventriloquist dummy is back in a Christmas themed multiplayer AR game, “Slappy’s Haunted Christmas”. Players must open Christmas presents with a tap of the screen in order to find the Goosebumps manuscript before Slappy does. The presents are not as pleasant as they may seem as some contain jump scares! Blumhouse And Amazon Teaming Up For Eight Exclusive Films

Blumhouse has continued to impress with their genre projects including their one episode a month holiday horror-themed anthology series “Into the Dark“. We’ve learned that the genre powerhouse is now gearing up to do something similar with Amazon Prime. Deadline is reporting that Amazon Studios has closed an exclusive production deal with Blumhouse Television for a series of eight features films that will be somehow connected. We are delighted Amazon is entrusting Blumhouse to deliver its signature thrills and chills to its global audience through this deal,” said Jason Blum. “This is a great opportunity for Blumhouse Television to empower underrepresented filmmakers offering a fresh take on the dark genres loved by fans the world over.” We will let you know when we learn more. The trailer has landed for indie creature feature Beasts of the Field from director Chase Dudley and writer Brentt Slabchuck. Starring Gregory Blair, Amber Dawn Fox, Ashley Nunes , Savannah Shaffer , Tory Beckham, Patrick Alred, and Keith Nicholson, the film centers on a delusional cryptozoologist and a psychopathic television presenter lead an amateur expedition into wild forests in hopes of finding the legendary Thunderbird, which they believe is the ancestor of a prehistoric Pteranodon.
