Game Review: ‘Separate Ways’ DLC

Fans of the Resident Evil 4 remake can look forward to more action today with the release of the DLC titled Separate Ways which features the mysterious Ada Wong and her activities during the events of the game’s main story. I want to thank CAPCOM for helping out with making this review possible!

In Separate Ways, players take on the role of Ada Wong as she’s on a secret mission in the Spanish countryside home to the Los Iluminados cult.

For returning players, the controls are the same as in the main story except for a couple of new unique mechanics. Just like I said in my review of the main story, when it comes to sound, headphones are a must! The sound design is great, the soundtrack gets your heart pumping, and Lily Gao’s performance fits with the character of Ada. Gao’s performance of Ada took her from being a flirty mystery eye-candy to what Ada truly is: a super spy femme fatal.

I’m not going to dive too deep into the story itself for this DLC, let’s just say players are in for an awesome ride and a whole new story that satisfyingly ties up loose ends from the main playthrough. In short, if you love the main story of Resident Evil 4, then you’re going to enjoy playing Separate Ways as there are challenges to complete to unlock awesome unlockables, and never-before-seen places to explore. Along with the new places come more unique challenges that only Ada can handle.

Overall, I’ve found Separate Ways enjoyable to play, as I remember playing it on the PS2 and was happy to see that CAPCOM brought it back in the remake. On my scale of 1-10, Separate Ways keep the momentum of Resident Evil 4 going with it’s well-deserved 10!
