Looking for some action this weekend? Get your mind out of the gutter; I’m talking about fist-flying, ass-whooping action. Peacock’s got you covered! Gear up for a high-octane revenge thriller with Monkey Man, the directorial debut of Academy Award-nominated actor Dev Patel! Produced by horror mastermind Jordan Peele, this film marks Patel’s double duty as director and star, portraying Kid, the story’s central character.
Drawing inspiration from the powerful Hindu deity Hanuman, Monkey Man presents Kid, a young man hardened by a harsh reality. By night, he fights anonymously in a brutal underground club, his face hidden by a gorilla mask. His body bears the scars of countless battles, a constant reminder of his struggles. However, beneath the surface burns a raging fire ignited by the tragic loss of his mother and the oppressive system that keeps him down.
Years of suppressed rage finally erupt. Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the corrupt elite, the very people who orchestrated his suffering. His scarred hands, a symbol of his past, become instruments of vengeance as he embarks on a relentless quest for justice.
Monkey Man promises to be an edge-of-your-seat experience. Patel’s original story, co-written with Paul Angunawela and John Collee, delivers a captivating narrative. Expect breathtaking fight choreography and heart-pounding chase sequences, all meticulously directed by Patel himself.
The film features a stellar international cast, including Sharlto Copley (“District 9”), Pitobash (“Million Dollar Arm”), and rising stars like Sikandar Kher and Sobhita Dhulipala.
Behind the camera, the movie benefits from a powerhouse team. Academy Award-winner Jordan Peele joins forces with producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, veterans of the John Wick franchise.
