Shepka Productions, in collaboration with Flickering Myth, has unveiled its latest offering in the realm of gothic horror: The Baby in the Basket. This chilling film is set against the turbulent backdrop of World War II, specifically in 1944. It unfolds within the isolated walls of St. Augustine’s, a remote convent nestled on a Scottish island. The tranquility of the nuns’ lives is shattered one stormy night when a cloaked figure mysteriously leaves a baby in a basket on their doorstep. Then vanishes into the darkness.

Under Sister Agnes’s guidance, the nuns reluctantly agree to care for the infant until the storm subsides. However, as increasingly unsettling events begin within the convent, Sister Agnes becomes convinced that the child is not what it appears to be. This terrifying realization throws her into a battle against her sanity. She struggles with the true nature of the evil that may have entered their sanctuary.

The Baby in the Basket boasts a talented cast. Amber Doig-Thorne, known for her role in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, leads the ensemble. Michaela Longden (How to Kill Monsters), ElleO’Haraa (Cara), and Lisa Riesner (No Dogs Allowed) also star. Nathan Shepka (Dead Before They Wake) joins the cast alongside veteran British actors Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Maryamd’Aboo (The Living Daylights), and Paul Barber (The Full Monty).

Nathan Shepka and Andy Crane co-direct the film. Tom Jolliffe Cinderella’ss Revenge, Renegades) wrote the screenplay. Shepka Productions, Flickering Myth, and Hidden Ridge Productions are the production companies, in association with Jolliffe Productions and Nerdly UK.

The Baby in the Basket is available today on Digital and DVD. You can watch it tonight on Apple TV, Prime Video, or HMV.
