Hold onto your butts, Mignola fans, because we are headed back to the Lands Unknown! Fresh off the massive success of Bowling with Corpses—which was basically the “it” book of 2025 and is already flying through its fourth printing—legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is keeping the momentum going. Dark Horse Books just announced a brand-new graphic novel written and drawn by the master himself: Uri Tupka and the Gods!

The Quest for the Divine (and a Talking Cat?)

This new adventure follows Uri Tupka, a former Doctor of Theology turned total heretic. He’s on a desperate, globetrotting mission to prove that ancient, powerful gods were the ones who truly shaped the world.

Of course, in a Mignola book, “searching for the truth” really means “narrowly escaping death.” Along the way, Uri is going to square off against mythical beasts and dragons, bandits, pirates, and witches. There’s also a tomb of unspeakable horror, a Queen of the Vegetables (yes, you read that right), and let’s not forget, a talking cat.

Straight from the Creator

Mignola isn’t just dipping his toes in—he’s diving headfirst into this shared universe he co-created with Ben Stenbeck. He’s even handling the art duties, with his long-time partner-in-crime, Dave Stewart, on colors.

“This is some of the most fun I’ve ever had drawing comics,” Mignola says. “The more I wander around in this world, the more I want to see… I feel that so far I’m still just scratching at the surface of this thing.”

The best part? This is just the beginning. Uri Tupka and the Gods is the first of a two-book arc, and Mignola is already hard at work on the sequel, Uri Tupka and the Devils.

Why You Should Be Hyped

Number one, it’s from Migonal. Let’s be honest, he’s amazing. There’s also the fantastic art. If you loved the folklore-inspired vibes of Bowling with Corpses, this expands that map significantly. We are thrown into a world that feels both ancient and brand new.

Mark your calendars for Dark Horse’s release of Uri Tupka and the Gods on March 25, 2026, because this is going to be big!
