One of the genre films on my must-see 2026 watch list is Victorian Psycho. If you’re like me, you will be excited to learn that tickets have just gone on sale ahead of its theatrical debut. But that’s not all; the new final trailer has now arrived, giving viewers a taste of the horrors to come, and it looks fantastic, bloody, and brutal.
Any time Maika Monroe is starring in a horror film, we know we’re in for an absolute, skin-crawling masterpiece. After her roles in Longlegs and It Follows, she’s back to give you nightmares once again in this 19th-century-set film.
Brutal and Bloody
Adapted directly from the acclaimed novel by author Virginia Feito herself, the film casts Monroe as Winifred, an eccentric governess. She arrives at a remote, gloomy gothic estate to care for a wealthy family’s children.
Naturally, it doesn’t take long for the manor’s staff and residents to notice that something is deeply, terribly wrong. Beneath Winifred’s delicate, polite exterior lies a dark and bloody secret. She isn’t just a quiet teacher, though. She is a ruthless, cold-blooded 19th-century serial killer.
A Masterclass Genre Ensemble
Directed by Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) and produced by Longlegs producer Dan Kagan, the period nightmare boasts an absolute powerhouse cast alongside Monroe. That includes Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The Pit), and Evie Templeton (Wednesday Season 2). Ruth Wilson (Luther, His Dark Materials), Amy De Bhrún (Vikings), and Jacobi Jupe (Hamnet) co-star.
Prepare for Carnage
With an undisputed horror-royalty lead, a stacked supporting cast, and a razor-sharp script that turns the classic “gothic governess” trope on its head, Victorian Psycho should be at the top of your must-see list too. Luckily, you don’t have to wait long. Victorian Psycho, rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong bloody violence and brief sexual material,” hits theaters on November 13. Do yourself a favor and get your tickets now.
