The upcoming sci-fi action-horror film The Awakening flips familiar military-horror tropes on their head. Well Go USA presents a heavily armed, elite military squad hunting an enemy target. Initially, this tactical unit penetrates deep into a dense Colombian jungle on a routine mission. Predictably, their straightforward operation quickly spirals into a gory, blood-soaked nightmare. Strangely, an ancient, curse-bearing primeval force awakens in the forest’s dark depths. Centuries earlier, a Spanish conquistador expedition faced the same terrifying, supernatural threat. As a result, both groups across distinct eras must battle relentless, primal terror to survive the woods.
To celebrate its upcoming release, the final trailer has arrived, which you can watch below.
A Tragic Legacy and Star Power
Furthermore, this intense feature boasts an impressive, immensely talented Latin American ensemble cast. Specifically, Claudio Cataño, Alejandro Buitrago, and Andres Londono lead the chaotic military charge—additionally, Héctor Sánchez, Andrea Olaya, Quique Sanmartín, and Jaisson Jeack co-star in the madness. Moreover, Carlos Mariño, Salvador Bridges, and Ricardo Leguizamo join the terrifying, bloody ordeal.
Tragically, legendary horror director Jaime Osorio Marquez passed away before completing the film. Thankfully, producer Federico Durán and director José Luis Rugeles heroically stepped in to honor his vision.
