Syfy’s Sharknado franchise has become a summertime tradition. Each year the movies get crazier and this year is no different. Sharknado: The Fourth Awakens went above and beyond to introduced us to different types of ‘Nados and an insane number of cameos. In fact, no franchise in history has ever come close to the number of cameos featured in the Sharknado films. It appears Sharknado 5, directed by Anthony C. Ferrante and written by Scotty Mullen, will be going global.
Titled Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, the film’s cameos include Tony Hawk, Olivia Newton-John, Chloe Lattanzi, Fabio, Clay Aiken, Bret Michaels, Charo, Gilbert Gottfried, Margaret Cho, Al Roker, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Greg Louganis, Tom Daley, Gus Kenworthy, Jeff Rossen, Porsha Williams, Tiffany “New York” Pollard, Chris Kattan, Cat Greenleaf, Ross Mullan and Dan Fogler. Cassie Scerbo, Masiela Lusha and Cody Linley will be reprising their roles.
In the film, the mission gets personal for Fin (Ian Ziering) and his bionic wife April (Tara Reid) when their young son gets trapped in a ‘nado and transported all over the world. From London to Rio, Tokyo, Rome, Amsterdam and beyond, our globetrotting heroes will seek assistance from highly-skilled squad of royals, scholars, and Olympians, enlisting famous faces from the news, entertainment, and sports in their most epic battle yet.
Baton down the hatches, Sharknado 5: Global Swarming will premiere on the Syfy channel on August 6, 2017.
