Fans of Stephen King, we have great news! Mike Flanagan‘s adaptation of Doctor Sleep, the sequel to King’s The Shining, is coming to theaters early! Originally set to open in theaters next year, Doctor Sleep will instead arrive on November 8, 2019, from Warner Bros.

Ewan McGregor stars as adult Danny Torrance with Alex Essoe playing the role of  Wendy Torrance. Carl Lumby, Kyliegh Curran, Bruce Greenwood, Rebecca Ferguson, Alyn Lind, and Jocelin Donahue also star. Jacob Tremblay plays the role of young Danny.

Flanagan rewrote Akiva Goldsman’s adaptation of King’s 2013 novel which picks up with Danny in his 40s who is struggling with the same demons of anger and alcoholism that plagued his father.

In the film, “On highways across America, a tribe of people called the True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless—mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance knows, and spunky twelve-year-old Abra Stone learns, the True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the steam that children with the shining produce when they are slowly tortured to death.”

King adaptations are going to be big this year with multiple movies like the  Pet Sematary rebootJoyland, the sequel to 2017’s blockbuster IT, and series like HBO’s “The Outsider,“ and CBS’ “The Stand” in different phases of production.
