DVD Review: Hosts (2020)

Ahh, the ho-ho-holidays, a time of gift givin’, merry makin’, and eating tons of fucking food. Speaking of which, that is precisely what’s on the agenda for Jack (Neal Ward) and Lucy (Samantha Loxley); a sickeningly in-love young couple who are set to have a nice meal with their neighbors Michael (Frank Jakeman), Cassie (Jennifer K. Preston), and their offspring; Eric (Lee Hunter), Lauren (Nadia Lamin) and Ben (Buddy Skelton). There is a slight hiccup in the night’s plans however as our young heroes find themselves possessed by an unknown entity just before they head out for their dinner date… and let me tell you; these shiny-eyed psychopaths really, and I mean really know how to ruin a dinner party in spectacular fashion! Movie Review: Toys of Terror (2020)

David (Dayo Ade) and Hannah (Kyana Teresa) trick their family into participating in flipping a dilapidated Victorian mansion located deep within the wicked woods of Washington under the guise of that hoary ol’ chestnut; Christmas fuckin’ fun. This goes over like a fart in church with their eldest child Alicia (Verity Marks), but her younger siblings find a cache of creepy ol’ toys in an old playroom; so they are happier than pigs in the proverbial shit. Of course those eponymous terror toys are up to all manner of supernatural shenanigans; and before you can steal a kiss under the merry mistletoe, our heroes are up to their asses in diabolical danger that threatens to make them residents in that arcane abode for this Christmas and all of those yet to come! Movie Review: The Mothman Legacy (2020)

Serving as a sequel to 2017’s Mothman doc; The Mothman of Point Pleasant (which I reviewed right here), The Mothman Legacy continues filmmaker Seth Breedlove’s deep-dive into the wicked winged world of this creepy cryptid! After a quick recap of Mothman-related events that culminated in the collapse of the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, West Virginia we delve back into the strange goings-on in that sleepy town and we learn that the lasting effects of the eerie encounters with that creepy creature still resonate throughout the town. Also present is evidence that the paranormal upheaval continues on, and has manifested in ways hitherto undocumented… even in regards to arguably the most famous figure in the entire affair, author John Keel, who’s 1975 novel, The Mothman Prophecies brought the events of Mothman’s reign of terror to the attention of the masses (and was turned into a film in 2002 starring Richard Gere). Movie Review: Bullets of Justice (2019)

I really don’t want to review Bullets of Justice. What I do want to do is watch Bullets of Justice… again, and again… Why? Because Bullets of Justice is one of the most downright bat-shit insane fucking films I’ve ever set my mother fuckin’ eerie eyeballs upon! In the aftermath of a third world war, civilization lies in ruins. What few humans survive are sterile and hunted ruthlessly by Muzzles; human/pig hybrids that were created to be super soldiers, but instead became psychos who crave human flesh. Ben (Morgan Krantz) gets the shit-hot idea to go camping for a three day weekend after calling it quits with his main squeeze. Well that idea goes tits-up with the quickness, as upon his arrival to that fateful forest, our boy Benny discovers a hearing impaired woman named Shan (Maya Stojan) locked in the trunk of a car… and the dude responsible doesn’t take kindly to intrusions on his kidnapping biz. Blu-ray Review: Cold Light of Day (1989)

Presenting the murder biz of one Cranley Gardens serial killer, named Denis Nielsen in real life but having the handle of Jorden March (Bob Flag, sporting one hell of a wig) here in a move that just screams “We ain’t payin’ shit to use this asshole’s real name”, and his hapless (seriously, this dude just kills people… he doesn’t really know why he does it, the cops never really figure it out, and besides a drop of childhood trauma the film never really seems to give a damn either) journey through a wicked wonderland of diabolical dismemberment.
