MTV’s SCREAM: Happy Birthday To Me’ Channeled CARRIE

I can still hear Brooke’s Scream! Last night SCREAM: Happy Birthday To Me aired. Which by the way is named after an 80’s-90’s horror film, as well as this whole season so far. Anyway. This episode brought the traditional SCREAM party to the surface but it didn’t end in bloodbath, at least not in the conscious world. After the killer [impersonating Jake], put a bottle of spiked liquor on Emma’s doorstep for Keiran’s surprise birthday party, things got ghostly..and well stabby [give me a break its midnight]. So the episode opened with a dream from Emma of her and Keiran fooling around [;)] and then the killer coming in and sticking his/her knife threw Keiran’s chest. But it’s all a dream so lover boy is still kicking. Anyway during this [in the conscious world] Audry finds a gash on her leg from the bottle opener she found in her car from the killer which he/she used to murder Eddie [the

Road to Death House Part 2

I’ve attended a lot of Hollywood meetings. Creative. Business. Social. In every one of these, ideas and projects get thrown around. People get excited. Plans are made. I usually wait until the very end to ask the most important question. If it is not mentioned up front, you kind of have your answer, but it’s a game in the end to see if you’re as smart as you think you are. That question is: Is the financing in place? You get either leaden silence as if you committed some grave social faux pas, or you get the “well, we are talking to so and so…” Translated: there is no money. Don’t believe the Hollywood fables of making a film for $15,000 and making $400 million. With all legends there is a grain of truth, but like an oyster makes a pearl, it’s slathered with layers of mucus and shit. No, your $7000 movie is not going to make a million.

Monster Fest’ Poster Puts Wires Through Your Head

Australian’s premier festival dubbed Monster Fest is returning for its sixth edition this Fall at Lido Cinemas, Melbourne, Australia. A poster has been dropped for the festival illustrated by Canadian artist Matt Ryan Tobin and seemingly is inspired by Twilight Zone but with a modern day twist. The print edition of the poster will be unveiled at Monster Fest, Australia’s premier festival of “cult, horror and the fantastic” November 24-27. From the press release: “We fell in love with Matt’s alternative posters for *Suspiria*, *Halloween III*, *Nightcrawler* and more,” says Festival Director Kier-La Janisse, “We knew he could do something witchy that also tied into notions of broadcasting, screen ubiquity and ‘infected’ channels that invoke audiences to join the Cult of Monster.” Along with this year’s addition of Janisse as Festival Director (author of House of Psychotic Women, founder of the Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies and Spectacular Optical Publications), Monster Fest 2016 boasts an impressive programming team that includes

Spoon Fed Horror

Expect more from your entertainment. Don’t be spoon fed. Whether film, literature, music, even video gaming…refuse to be dumbed down. As I move over the half way point in post production for “Death House” I’ve had time to reflect on the film and wonder how it will be received. The latest news on yet another “Friday the 13th” installment is it will be an origins story. I guess my question is…was there ever that much there in the first place to warrant an origin backstory? Doesn’t it defeat the point of making a simple slasher film to entertain, scare and titillate? Do we really need an origins story whether on Pamela Vorhees or Jason or how Camp Crystal Lake was founded? The Millennial Generation and after are said to be too literal. They need everything spelled out for them. They have all the information they need on their phones. Why think? Why extrapolate? Hell, why even dream? School is taught

SCREAM’: Psycho RECAP: Is Audry The Killer Or Fall Girl?

It already been one week since Scream premiered. Can you believe it? So episode 2 was pretty much slow paced. Not much of the killer’s appearance, but more red-haring action for Audry Jenson aka bi-curious, and Emma’s recovery. Last episode Emma broke into Troy James’ [Emma’s stepsister’s father’s brother] barn and then into his house, only to find newspaper clippings from the Lakewood massacre hung creepily on the walls. As Emma was snooping further into the home she’s met by somebody or something in the doorway, which leads her to SCREAM. Now in episode 2, that entire..whatever, didn’t even seem to have happened. It wasn’t even mentioned, it was as if it never happened! On a different note, this season seemingly mirrors I Know What You Did Last Summer, right down to the hallucinations. Which isn’t really a bad thing, Scream 3′ did the same thing sort of. [ahem] Remember Sidney Prescott’s nap on the couch in her ranch in
