‘Something’s Awry Productions’ Are Here! Don’t Miss Them At FilmQuest Film Festival

There are a lot of projects that come to Horrorfuel. Some look really cool and exciting and the odd one looks a little…not quite as exciting. However, there is no exaggeration in my extreme interest and excitement for ‘Something’s Awry Productions’ short films that I was just lucky enough to watch the trailers for. I have to admit, I was hooked with the opening tag and loved every second of the trailer. My only wish is that I could have watched the entire films! Luckily, you get that chance! Provo, UT, September 7, 2017 – Something’s Awry Productions will screen two animated shorts, ‘MARY & MARSHA IN THE MANOR OF MADNESS’ and ‘THE GIFT OF THE WOODS’, at the FilmQuest Film Festival on Friday September 15th. Hello my Little Monsters. If you’ve come here today, that means you know what today is and what I have in store for you. Yep, you guessed it. it’s time to highlight yet another of those wonderful Women of Horror. Lately I’ve been thinking of actresses that have made a contribution to the genre, but may have only a few horror titles on their resumes. And the reason I would like to highlight these ladies is because were they to come back to the genre, it would be a very welcome return. One such actress is the lovely and talented Ms. Natasha Henstridge. Natasha is a product of Canada, as she was born in Springdale, Newfoundland and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The ‘Lore’ T.V. Show Has An Official Trailer

Last week, we announced that the upcoming Lore T.V. show has an official release date of Friday, October 13th. We included a brief teaser trailer in that article. As with most teaser trailers, we really weren’t shown a lot of what we can expect from the television show itself. Well, this morning a new, “official” trailer was released and it is chock-full of creepy images! The Lore T.V. show will be based on the popular Lore podcast, hosted by Aaron Mahnke, and it will give us 6 distinct episodes. Each episode will cover a piece of folklore that has given us many of our modern horror staples–werewolves, vampires, changelings and many other paranormal entities. The shows will use a combination of animation, narration and live action re-enactments. Lethal Injektion Releasing New LP on the 15th

Known for their terrifying music videos (one which starred Horror Fuel favorite Samhain) and rocking beats, band Lethal Injektion will be released their brand new LP ‘Judgement Night’ on the 15th. Killer Clowns with giant nose rings aside, Lethal Injektion is a pretty kickass band, with a sound that reminds me of a lot of the metal and punk that was coming out in the mid 2000’s. While and LP isn’t a full album by any means, it’s at least a little taste of whats to come.

‘Friday The 13th’ Game Gets Expanded

So, by now hopefully everyone has heard of the ‘Friday The 13th’ game for PS4 and Xbox One. And…you have probably heard that, despite being a really cool idea for a game, it has more bugs than ‘Arachnophobia’. Fortunately, the developers are working hard to fix all of the issues while expanding the game. Just announced is a Part 4 map and a new version of Jason (with brand new kills…that’s really why you play the game anyway, isn’t it? There’s no shame in that.) Also, added to this map (and rumoured to be added to already existing maps) is a rain element that makes Chrystal Lake even more haunting. Hopefully they get this game figured out and keep adding new elements to it.

Indie horror film ‘Bacchanalia’ is finally coming to DVD in North America! Order it now from Amazon. Movie Review: ‘Dogged’ Is Laden With Disturbingly Dark Secrets

A young man named Sam is returning from university to his boyhood home, located in a village on a tidal island called Farthing Island. The purpose of his visit is to attend the funeral of a young girl who died in a tragic, albeit mysterious, accident, and to also attend the community’s annual Festival of Thanks. Of course sometimes going back home isn’t as comforting an experience as one would hope, and in the wake of the recent tragedy this small town is cloaked in a shroud of secrecy. Attack of the Rotten Tomatoes

The Sites Rotten Tomatoes ruined the summer 2017 boxoffice. The New York Times published this article on film review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes (read here). The site has been around almost twenty years. I was first introduced to it back in 2003-2004. As the Internet gained more of a foothold, Rotten Tomatoes expanded its base; and now, according to this article, its power to influence box office performance. Sounds like those parents who subscribe to the “not my kid” mentality. Couldn’t possibly be US, it has to be the school, society…anyone but us and the bad product we made. I wrote a similar article, which could be a companion piece (here) a few months earlier when another finger pointing article on RT got some press. ‘IT’ Review: A High-floating Masterpiece Or Sludge From The Sewer?

I hope that at this point in society we can come together as one and declare clowns as fucking creepy. White painted faces, colorful, ill fitting clothes, and whacko smiles that are the stuff of nightmares; all EXTREMELY fucking creepy. Pennywise however, the shapeshifting killer clown who prowls on the children of Derry Maine, goes a step beyond. And clown shoes take awful big steps. Pennwise is downright disturbing. A big hand to Bills Skarsgard, whose joint popping, drooling, cross eyed performance is about the furthest thing from funny in the world. And yet much of The Dancing Clown’s power is robbed from him as the film continues on and he is apparently content with just fucking around. A (stupid looking) leper here, a (even stupider looking) evil flute lady thing there, and not a whole lot of effective child munching.
