Blu-ray Review: The Dead Center (2018)

Medical examiner Edward Graham (Bill Feehely) has been tasked with examining a John Doe (Jeremy Childs) suicide… which would be rather routine except for the fact the body has fuckin’ disappeared… well “disappeared” is the wrong word; more like “resurrected” and wandered away… as one does. Eventually our very confused former corpse lands himself in ye olde psychiatric hospital and under the care of Dr. Daniel Forrester (Shane Carruth)… a rather unorthodox medical professional who has raised the ire of the higher ups. Forrester does his best to deduce Doe’s boggle (namely insane-o mood swings unmanageable by normal methods), but he naturally could never guess that this dude has gone loco because he’s now a walking impossibility… and worse yet; those that get close to Doe are beginning to die. Will Graham (who won’t let a missing corpse lie) and Forrester solve these supernatural shenanigans before the body count rises? The Dead Center is one hell of a slow-burn sombre

DVD Review: Red Spring (2017)

Things have gone to shit up Canada way as Toronto has become completely lousy with vampires. A band of humans, who’s ranks include Ray (Jeff Sinasac, who also wrote and directed this fright flick), a man looking for his family… though they are most likely extinct, a soldier, a survivor of a vampire breeding camp, Vicky (Elysia White); who’s emergency shelter the group calls home… and more, have all teamed up in an effort to survive this post apocalyptic fang banger hellscape, but they are havin’ major issues getting their shit together. Now you may thing that this is like The Walking Dead, but vampires have replaced zombies… and you are dead-bang fuckin’ right… but that doesn’t mean this is not worth your time. Quite the contrary this flick is filled with strong characters you actually give a demonic damn about, with Sinasac and White leading the pack with he juiciest, most fleshed out roles, though the rest of the

Blu-ray Review: Toys Are Not For Children (1972)

I’m not going to candy coat it; Jamie Godard (Marcia Forbes) is all shades of fucked up. She’s a relative simpleton that masturbates on the regular with the stuffed animals her absentee father sends her (even though she’s a grown-ass woman)… and she calls out “Daddy” as she does it! Soon she finds herself married to her co-worker, though she can’t “consummate” the deal due to them pesky issues mentioned up yonder… and before you can say “oh, fuck no” she finds herself balls deep in the world of prostitution thanks to aging whore Pearl (Evelyn Kingsley) who was a favorite of her horny pops. Needless to say, things go south in more ways than one… Comprised of unlikable or unsympathetic characters, garish fashions, and not nearly as much titillation as one would expect from a picture like this; Toys Are Not For Children is not your average exploitation picture. Jamie and her mother (Fran Warren) seem to be in

Movie Review: Memory: The Origins of Alien (2019)

Memory: The Origins of Alien, the new film from Director Alexandre O. Philippe takes a whole new tack in investigating the creation of Ridley Scott’s Alien; he sets his eerie eyeballs mostly on the period of time before the film began shooting, rather than showing us yet another “making-of” piece… and that is refreshing as all fuck boils n’ ghouls! To that end, much heed is paid to what may have influenced Writer Dan O’Bannon (Return of the Living Dead) to create this story in the first place with the much mentioned It: The Terror From Beyond Space and Mario Bava’s Planet of the Vampires, to lesser known (but obvious) inspiration culled from the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and E.C. Comics, while creating his own unforgettable mythology and world building. Time is also spent examining cool-as-all-fuck late artist H.R. Giger’s undeniable influence on all things xenomorph, as well as what Scott brought to the table (though as the only surviving

Short Review: IT… the uhhh… let’s say Adult Version

Look this shit isn’t going to be for everyone, and is so far beyond NSFW (the film reviewed, not the actual revoltin’ review… well, I mean it’s gonna contain my normal number of “fucks” but they’ll be referring to actual fucking for the most part) that if you have a major stick up your ass about such things you should just move on to ghoulish greener pastures… any way, on with the show! When you think of Pennywise what is the first thing anyone thinks of… go on, I’ll wait… naturally, it’s a spinner making sweet, sweet love to her big ass boyfriend! IT Wants Her Small Tits (this one just had to have a fetish… I mean beyond Stephen King inspired pornography that is), stars Anna Mae (clever name) who, has a nightmare where she finds herself balls deep in Derry, and you just know that creepy clown will show his face… and he does, but before you can

Blu-ray Review: Killer Crocodile (1989)

Surely riding on the shit-hot success of that legendary legend Jaws: The Revenge or the announcement of an upcoming sequel to Alligator; Italy birthed Killer Crocodile… a film that features a killer crocodile (I mean c’mon, it’s right there in the title folks)… and a fuckin’ huge one to boot! When a group of youngish(?)… they could be anywhere from twenty to forty depending on the light and angle… environmentalists go fucking around in a toxic waste dump of a swamp (created by the one/two punch of a crooked judge and a shady corporation), one of their group ends up in a rather devoured state thanks to the fucking school bus sized mutant croc that calls that monstrous marsh home sweet home! As you can guess, the group want to protect the beast (environmentalists, remember?), no matter how much of a murder machine the bastard obviously is. Let me tell ya, keeping that lethal lizard alive isn’t going to be

Blu-ray Review: Itsy Bitsy (2019): Dan XIII’s take!

Kara (Elizabeth Roberts) has a lot going for her… all of it bad. She is a former pill-popper, she killed one of her kids in a car accident, and her marriage has fallen to shit and back… so naturally Kara wants to get the hell out of dodge. To that end, she shoves her still-living brood, Jesse (Arman Darbo) and Cambria (Chloe Perrin0), into the car and moves cross country to take a position as caregiver to former treasure hunter Walter (Bruce Davison). Long story short; Walter owns an ancient artifact that contains a fucking huge spider that is tied to the spirit of a goddess, and that beastly bitch gets loose causing all manner of mayhem for our heroes… eventually. You see, the thing is, Itsy Bitsy has a bit of a focus problem. Is it a heavy-handed domestic drama, or is it a delirious creature feature? It’s both, and therein lies a problem pacing wise, and let’s be

Blu-ray Review: Wax Mask (1997)

Paris: the early 1900’s: As a new age begins, a wax museum, operated by Boris Volkoff (Robert Hossein) and his strange assistants, is set to open and all of the city seems to be balls deep into that prospect. Along with that, there have been a rash of disappearances, mainly involving children and prostitutes. Swept up in the mix is young fashion designer Sonia (Romina Mondello), who’s mother was murdered twelve years prior. I wonder if there is a connection? As this fright flick contains zero mystery for the audience (it’s based on Gaston Leroux’s The Waxwork Museum which has been the basis of roughly eleven-billionty films, most famously as House of Wax starring Vincent Price in 1953), we know Volkoff is up to no good… and holy hell is he ever, as his wax creations are made of living victims and arcane science! Before long ol’ Sonia, along with her bland-as-shit pal Andrea (Serventi Longhi), are deep into the

Movie Review: The Dark Place (2014)

Keegan Dark (Blaise Godbe Lipman) and his boyfriend Wil (Timo Descamps), are two dudes just livin’ their lives gifted with X-Men (eidetic memory and a knack for fixing that which should not be able to be fixed respectively). Our heroes make a trek to repair K-dawgs relationship with momma-dukes Celeste (Shannon Day); but the woman has moved on and started a new family… family which includes her new beau’s son Adrian (Andy Copeland) who is balls deep into the notion he can replace Keegan in Celeste’s life. Things go over like a fart in a submarine, and soon Wil is M.I.A., Celeste is in a coma… and Keegan is immediately blamed as the cause by the local authorities, but our hero suspects Adrian is the cause of all that static. In order to solve the mystery at hand, Keegan will have to own up to some deep, dark family secrets while using his mental prowess to piece together the clues!

Game Review: ‘Frostpunk: Console Edition’

You’ve heard of Steampunk, Cyberpunk, and you may have heard of Dieselpunk but the question is, are you ready for Frostpunk? The makers of This War of Mine, 11 Bit Studios, gave me the opportunity to play the console edition of their city-building game, Frostpunk. As mentioned, Frostpunk is a city-building game where players take on the role of the “Captain”, the leader of a band of survivors from London in an alternative universe where the world is plunged into a never-ending winter apocalypse. As the leader, you have to establish a city around a giant generator that’s also the only source of heat that will keep your people alive. You have to direct your people where to go and scavenge materials from the frozen wasteland to be used to either build industry, or power the generator. Along the way, you will be asked to make some choices that can affect the morale of your people. If you lose the
