Blu-ray Review: The Chinese Boxer (1970)

So peep this shit; a real ballsy mother fucker by the name of Diao Erh-yeh (Chao Hsiung) strolls on into the Chung Yi Chinese kung-fu school and starts whipping ass like a human tornado… until the school’s Master arrives and delivers an absolutely savage beating to that crass Judo master! Defeat goes over like a fart in church for Diao, and he vows revenge in the form of “karate-men” … and indeed, men that know karate (eventually joined by a couple of samurai, because fuck yeah!) bestow an absolute shitstorm of karate-based murder and mayhem on the student body of Chung Yi… which leaves the town rather defenseless and an easy target for karate-men conquest… which involves more casino ownership than karate… This doesn’t sit well with Chung Yi star pupil/karate abuse survivor Lei Ming (Jimmy Wang Yu… who wrote and directed this picture with production from the legendary Shaw Brothers Studios) so he decides to undergo some of that

Blu-ray Review: The Old Ways (2020)

Cristina (Brigitte Kali Canales), a journalist from L.A., has returned home down Mexico way to investigate some local ruins. There are a few snags on this workcation however, as the heroin addicted, childhood exorcism witness has been set up by her cousin who believes she is possessed. To that end she experiences the hospitality (read: her ass is chained to a bed in a dank cell and she’s forced to drink more goat milk than one would assume to be pleasurable) of an ancient bruja,,, a shaman witch if you will, named Luz (Julia Vera) and her son Javi (Sal Lopez) who go right ahead and work an exorcism on her ass right quick! Cristina naturally she assumes this is bullshit (her own past be damned!), but before you can say no bueno, that bruja begins pulling human teeth and snakes out of her belly… just reached right on in and pulled that shit out , they did… well, the

Blu-ray Review: Frankenstein’s Daughter (1958)

Trudy Morton (Sandra Knight) is having some real horror humdinger nightmares in which she pictures herself as a monster out on the town, but it certainly won’t stand in the way of a good game of tennis… as it shouldn’t. The gaggle of Grease cast members she calls friends think it’s all a load of bullshit, except for Trudy’s frenemy Suzie (Sally Todd), who experienced the same “dream”. As fate would have it, the elderly scientist uncle Trudy lives with, Carter Morgan (Felix Maurice Locher) by name, has a real douchebag of a lab assistant; the rude-as-fuck, Felix Flankin lookin’ motherfucker Oliver Frank (Donald Murphy)… short for Frankenstein ‘natch… who is working a side-hustle in the lab; making a “female” creature out of random body-parts (no surprise given Oliver’s family history) while Carter aims to eliminate all disease in the world. Oh, and Oliver has been spiking Trudy’s daily fruit punch with a formula that turns her into a scantily

Game Review: ‘Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water’

When it comes to horror games one always stood out to me as being truly scary and actually invoked nightmares for me in the past, and that’s Fatal Frame. I was super disappointed that after the game’s third installment that they stopped releasing it in the US, but when I heard about the series fifth installment being re-released for consols I said “You son of a bitch, I’m in!”. Let’s see if the series is still had its scares or if it’s lost it, lets check out Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. First a big thank you to Koei Tecmo for the reviewing opportunity! Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water takes place on Hikami Mountain that is a popular location for people to commit suicide much like the real-life suicide forest of Japan. The game follows three playable characters, Yuri a young woman with a developing sixth sense, Ren an author with a connection to the events on the

Movie Review: “Sunod” (A Night of Horror International Film Festival)

Director Carlo Ledesma takes viewers on a wild ride of the supernatural in Sunod (AKA Followed; Philippines, 2019), which captured the awards for Best International Feature Film, Best Performance in an International Feature Film (Carmina Villarroel), and Best International Feature Film Director (Ledesma) at the recent A Night of Horror International Film Festival in Australia. Although the film sometimes deals in familiar fear-fare trappings, the overall result is a gripping chiller well worth a watch. Villarroel portrays Olivia, a single mother to teen daughter Anelle (Krystal Brimner) who is hospitalized with a heart condition. Olivia asserts herself, out of financial desperation, into a new night job at a call center. Her place of employment happens to be the same building that served as a hospital in the 1970s, and savvy horror movie viewers know that nothing good ever comes of being in a former hospital. Below the call center are abandoned floors. When Olivia finds herself on one of those

Product Review: Demon Wolf Ring By Serpent Forge

Whether you’re out riding your bike, attending parties, or slaying creatures of the night, it helps to have unique jewelry to hold your attire together, and no one knows unique jewelry better than Serpent Forge! Founded in 2012 in Sydney, Australia, Serpent Forge makes unique biker jewelry may it be rings, pendants, or bracelets made from 100% sterling silver and gold. I want to give a big thank you to Serpent Forge for making this review possible! The ring I got is called the Demon Wolf, quite fitting, made of silver, and looks like an awesome Werewolf, and it also reminds me of the wolf art on the poster for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The ring has some weight to it but fits amazingly comfortably on my finger and does not interfere with my finger’s movement. The amazing quality of the designs will surely grab the attention of friends and family as well as strangers as you can’t find these rings

DVD Review: The Amityville Moon (2021)

Down Amityville way, professional fuck-up Detective Kimball (Trey McCurley) takes the “Light Duty Highway” and is assigned to investigate missing woman at a church-run rehabilitation facility for wayward women. While there he meets the rag-tag denizens of that haunted half-way house, including new girl Mandy (genre mainstay Augie Duke), who is having none of this dreaded domicile’s bullshit… bullshit that includes an escalating number of missing persons. Now, just who is responsible for these vanishing acts? Could it be low-key beard-meister Father Peter (David B. Meadows)? How about hissing pop-eyed Sister Ruth (A nightmare on Elm Street 4’s Tuesday Knight)? Maybe professional papal weird-o Father Michael (Michael Cervantes)? Well whoever the fuck it is, it’s a hundo-P guarantee they are a mother fuckin’ werewolf! Speaking of werewolves… you know what always gets me about these particular creature features, the big transformation scene. If the person changing is anywhere in the proximity of another, non-werewolf type of person, then said non-werewolf

Movie Review: “Lair” (A Night of Horror International Film Festival)

You’ll rarely find a character that you can’t wait to see get his as much as you will with paranormal researcher/exploiter Steven Caramore (Corey Johnson) in the U.K. feature Lair. As if being responsible for his business partner Ben’s (Oded Fehr) slaughtering of his wife and child, Caramore then sets up shop in a London apartment building, outfitting one flat with allegedly cursed objects while rigging up cameras in a neighboring one to watch what happens to an unsuspecting family in the first flat. The vacationing family in question brings their own personal demons into the mix — lots of arguing, bickering, bruised egos, and teen rebellion — and really they should have demanded a refund on their vacation rental as soon as Caramore told them — on their second day of the stay — that he placed a cursed doll in their flat, a toy to which little Lily (Lara Mount) took an instant liking. But Lily and her

Product Review: JuJu Energy

Energy drinks and gaming go together like chocolate and peanut butter, but with so many brands on the market now it’s hard to choose which is the best, and healthier option as so many energy drinks are just back with sugar and caffeine. Let me introduce you to JuJu Energy! A big thank you to JuJu for letting me try out one of their products and making this review happen! With their NO BS policy, everything you need to know what’s in the powder mix is on the label, and their website gives complete transparency so you know what you’re putting in you. I got the flavor Watermelon Crush, the powder in the tub is very fine and dissolves well in water. I also was sent a 16OZ shaker cup, in HORROR FUEL colors, of course, I will say when you want to use the shaker, make sure you have the lid on very tight as I experience small leaks

Movie Review: “Last Survivors” (Arrow Video FrightFest Halloween Edition)

Last Survivors, the latest entry in the thriller subgenre of “children beginning to question their parents’ philosophies after an apocalyptic event” (this year’s Gaia being one example) is a solid outing fueled by fine performances from its three leads. Troy (Stephen Moyer) is a stern man who has raised his adult son Jake (Drew Van Acker) from very young childhood in a remote mountain area, with the two of them living off the land and storing venison jerky for long winters. Troy has been training Jake to kill any intruders without hesitation to protect what is theirs, and Jake declares himself ready to do so. When Troy is injured during one such confrontation, he tells Jake where a supply of medicine is hidden. The young man goes to fetch it and spies a woman just outside of their property. He has second thoughts about shooting her, and instead breaks into her house, where he learns that her name is Henrietta
