Blu-ray Review: The Funhouse (1981)

After some truly creepy shit with a young kid waltzing right into the middle of his naked sisters shower… you know the kind in these flicks, where our heroine absently soaps up her breasts more than anyone in the history of ever has done… and pretends to kill her, slasher style along with stern warning from her father (not shower based) to stay away from the local carnival/recent murder site (I bet those words have been strung together more times than we can imagine), Amy Harper (Elizabeth Berridge) and her friends head directly to the local carnival/recent murder site. After much fairground fuckery, including a sideshow featuring deformed animals and fetuses (fun for the whole family!), a magic show featuring Marco the Magnificent (the Phantom of the Paradise himself, William Finley), and a disastrous visit to the resident mystic, Madame Zena (Sylvia Miles), Amy and the gang decide to stick around after hours and spend the night in the eponymous

Movie Review: You Need To Sink Your Fangs Into 'House Of Darkness'

Movie Review: You Need To Sink Your Fangs Into ‘House Of Darkness’

From the moment I hear Justin Long is starring in a movie it automatically goes on my watch list. So when I heard his new movie is a vampire flick, House of Darkness, I just had to sink my teeth into it. Long stars alongside Kate Bosworth, Gia Crovatin, and Lucy Walters in this vampire tale about a “player” who takes home a woman he just met at a bar. When the two arrive at her mansion he thinks he’s about to get lucky, but in reality, his luck has just run out. As you’ve probably guessed, I’m a fan of Long’s work, however, his character in this movie is a complete and total douche. We have all met that guy, an asshole who is just out to get laid and will do anything to get his target in the sack. He’s sarcastic and manipulative and way more confident than he should be, that’s the character in a nutshell. I

Movie Review: “Wedding 93” (Fortean Film Festival)

Take the elements of a found-footage horror movie and add in the fact that the film is a documentary, and you have the intriguing feature Wedding 93. In fine Fortean style, director Paul Zagaris’ documentary leaves the interpretation of the proceedings up to individual viewers. Using film footage recently obtained by Zagaris from sources who wish to remain anonymous, Wedding 93 shows how a traditional rural wedding in 1993 Cambodia takes a disastrous turn. Bol, a well-off farmer, is set for an arranged marriage with Rah, who felt forced into the arrangement by her mother. As the festivities begin, a happy Bol sits next to a stone-faced Rah. The bride-to-be begins crying, and then displays chilling behavior that leads some wedding guests to believe she is possessed by an occult entity. The proceedings were captured on two different cameras by members of the wedding party. With jump-scare shots that could have come from a narrative found footage film, the footage
