Let’s take a very, very deep dive into the Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection as we feast our eerie eyeballs on every film and the eerie extras these devilish discs contain! (Fair warning: this is going to be one hell of an insanely long-ass review!!!) Kicking things of we have the Frankenstein Complete Legacy Collection Frankenstein (1931): Ol’ Doc Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) and his deformed assistant Fritz (Dwight Frye) are up to the totally reasonable and completely sane task of digging up graves and disassembling corpses with the intent of putting the best bits together like a human jigsaw puzzle. Well, thanks to janky science and lightning they succeed, but the end result isn’t the human perfection for which they strove; rather he is a misshapen monstrosity (played to putrid perfection by Boris Karloff) possessed of great strength,a child

Movie Review: Strange Nature (2018)

Coming up at eleven: Mutant frogs; will they spell the downfall of life as we know it? The real news clips that begin Strange Nature certainly make a case for it. After that we get down to the real meat and potatoes of the film; a mother, (and former teen pop sensation…random for sure; but the video they show of her hit song is priceless) named Kim (Lisa Sheridan) and her son Brody (Jonah Beres) return to the rural town she grew up in; the woods of which are lousy with those aforementioned frogs, plus a mutant kid…but not like crazy monster or anything; she goes to school and all, she just looks like she’s starring in the high school production of The Hills Have Eyes: The Musical (how is that not a thing?!!), and reports of folks going missing in the woods. Anyway, Kim and her father Chuck (Bruce Bohne) begin investigating local farms for clues as to what

Movie Review: Muse (2017)

Lit Prof. Samuel Salomon (now there’s a name that would make ol’ Stan Lee green with envy that he didn’t thunk of it first…oh, and he’s played by Elliot Cowan) is one grief stricken mother fucker. You see, a year ago his girlfriend bought the farm and he hasn’t been able to work since! Along with that major bummer, he keeps having nightmares of a mystery woman gettin’ hers at the hands of some arcane acolytes during one of your occult rituals that the kids dig so much these days. As fate and fright flick conventions would have it; the woman turns up dead in the really real world in the same manner of demise as peeped in our hero’s dream. Because common sense has never been an attribute of any protagonist in a horror film ever, Sammy visits the crime seen and encounters Rachel (Franka Potente); a lady that had the same damn nocturnal torment as S-dawg! The dynamic

Blu-ray Review: The Horror of Party Beach (1964)

Scientist Hank Green (John Scott) attends a beach party with his world class booze hound of a girlfriend Tina (Marilyn Clarke) while at the same time, some real asshole sailors chuck a barrel of leaking radioactive waste into the drink which contaminates the bones of long dead sailors on a sunken ship which causes them to fuse with marine life and become sea creatures with what looks like mouths full of Ballpark Franks…man, I just love fucking science…Meanwhile on the beach an unholy combo of The Beach Boys and Buddy Holly and the Crickets croon some do-woppin’ bullshit about making a left hand turn in a car then going to jail as the camera whip pans to a girl’s ass when a muscle bound hunk mentions hot dog buns. I may need to lie down before this is over… Anyway much making of the out occurs, some greasers show up and start some static, Tina is killed (although how she

Movie Review: Blood Clots (2018)

As is the case with more than a few arcane anthologies these days, Blood Clots skips the tried and true wrap-around feature and just gets with the gettin’ by presenting seven stories (called “clots”) with no discernible thread. so without further ado, let’s lay our eerie eyeballs on these things one by one and see how they stack up! Clot I: Hell of a Day: (Director/Writer: Evan Hughes) An injured woman takes shelter in an abandoned restaurant as a zombie apocalypse rages outside the structure. Soon the creatures start their shimmy shamble shenanigans and end up coming inside, so our heroine descends into the basement and locks herself in. Will she survive with her sanity and body parts intact? This one was a solid lil’ zombie flick cum psychological thriller. The film was definitely shot and acted well, and the effects were damn solid and should satisfy a gore hounds blood tooth nicely. All in all a strong way to
